Obama already got a Nobel Peace Prize without doing anything at all. And now, he’s been awarded a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, without ever even having practiced the martial art.
Yes, really.
[O]ut of the Seoul sky, President Lee Myung-bak hands over to the American leader a tae kwon do outfit. And then Lee, who practices tae kwon do himself, presents Obama with a coveted black belt. After zero long years of study.
He’s also sure to win an Academy Award for Best Leading Actor in the critically acclaimed film, “Healing America: The Road to Socialized Health Care”. Yeah, the movie doesn’t exist, but so what?
And hey, so what if he’s never practiced martial arts? He’s still got teh ninja skills… sort of. It may not do him any good in a fist fight — Obama always seemed like the cower and hide type to me — but it isn’t the hard work, dedication, and training that matters. Obama’s the great uniter, our Dear Leader, and it’s only appearances that count.
I’ve been studying Kenpo Karate for four and a half years, have broken my fingers and toes, sprained my wrists, knees and ankles, have literally shed blood, sweat and tears and this piece of crap gets a Black Belt before me? With no effort?
Big Don,
Don’t worry about it. He’s the Messiah after all…he deserves all these bonuses for the hard work he’s put in over the whole past 9 months or so…chuckle…giggle…uproariously laughing…
Oh yeah, BTW, Mr. Black Belt homeboy is also thinking of giving about a third of Afghanistan to the Taliban if they stop being big meanies and shoot missiles at our bases. Saw that little gem at Blackfive (and MEMRI’s talking about it as well…). Can’t wait to see how this “smart diplomacy” works out…
I just threw up in my mouth a little . . . disgusting.
Cassy, you’re putting us on, right? This has to be an April Fool’s joke.
Every day I think that we’ve reached the bottom of the barrel in the whole Barry worship thing. Then I remember that you should look under the barrel as well.
Update to my previous comment: I bow to no one in my disgust of our current president. However, a friend of mine, whose father lives in Korea, replied with the following when I sent her the link:
In Korea the black belts do not mean much without color stripes on them, something about the color of the stripe being the indicator of level, so maybe they were just giving him a beginner uniform…my understanding from my time there is the plain black is like plain white over here, it’s a student color.
In other words, they gave Obama a belt signifying his extraordinary level of accomplishment in tae kwon do, which can best be described as “dick”. Diddly, bupkis and squat, if you don’t want to be a potty mouth like me.
As a student of Taekwondo (World Taekwondo Federation), who after more than 4 years of training earned my 1st Dan (Black Belt) earlier this year, I was – at first – insulted at this honor.
But then I recall how many people recieve honary degrees from univsities and the like. Based on the article, it has been said Mr. Obama studied while in the Illinois Senate. I would surmise that the amount of time he was rthere might – MIGHT – have him at 5th Gup, or about half-way to Black belt.
There are terms of derision such as ‘McDojang’ or ‘McDojo’ applied to schools that hand out Black Belts for little more than sufficient tuition monies paid (regardless of commitment, ability or training). With all due respect to Presidents Lee Myung-bak, President Obama’s rank will always be known as a ‘Paper Black Belt’.
@physics geek: to a true Taekwondo Martial Artist, a 1st Dan (a/k/a 1st-degree Black Belt) is someone who has demonstrated they are ready to learn. It is a separation of the ‘kids from the adults’, if you take my meaning.
Equating TKD to College Education, President Obama has just been awarded his GED.
He probably watched “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” with his kids. What more qualification does he need?
Spot-on observations, Cassy. Is it true that if you look up ’empty suit’ in the dictionary, you’ll find Barry O’s picture?

Black belt and Peace Prize? Isn’t there a contradiction in there somewhere? 🙂
I achieved black belt rank over 30 years ago and have studied martial arts for most of my life. From where I stand none of you have the mental capacity to surpass green belt! Master G
