Even the AFGE, the federal government workers union, has had enough of the Democrat shutdown games. They issued a very blunt statement this morning.
As Politico points out, as the shutdown continues, there are significant programs that will be negatively impacted on November 1, unless the Democrats face reality.
SNAP has 40 million people using the program. Which is mind-boggling enough. Yet it evidently takes about $9 billion a MONTH per Politico to keep the food and snacks flowing. WIC and Head Start are also affected. As is our military.
Members of the military will miss paychecks on Friday if Trump doesn’t intervene like he did earlier this month, when he paid active-duty servicemembers by tapping about $6.5 billion meant for military research and development efforts. But it could be hard to make the same move again since that pot of cash had about $10 billion left before the president pulled from it last time.
Of course, when a private donor, who we find out is Timothy Mellon, donates $130 million to cover our soldier’s pay, the Democrats throw a shit fit and demand an investigation. Yes, really.
Not… how it works. You have, I have we all have been privately paying for troops every paycheck . This person walked forward to pick up the tab; while our contribution is stuck behind an adult pissing match called our government.

Say stupid things Anne and enjoy the rake smacking you in the face. Our tax dollars pay our troops salaries and medical care. A private donation doesn’t negate that fact.
Democrats have been trying to blame President Trump for the shutdown. Yet every single time a vote on a CLEAN RESOLUTION with zero pork in it comes up for a vote, the Democrats turn tail and run. With the exception of Senator John Fetterman.
The federal workers union, AFGE, has had enough.
This week, Congress pushed our nation into the fourth week of a full government shutdown – an avoidable crisis that is harming families, communities, and the very institutions that hold our country together. Both political parties have made their point, and still there is no clear end in sight.
Today I’m making mine: it’s time to pass a clean continuing resolution and end this shutdown today. No half measures, and no gamesmanship.
Oh, but there’s more.
The statement could increase pressure on Democrats to budge from their stance. Senate Democrats have insisted that they won’t vote to reopen the government without a commitment from Republicans and President Donald Trump on extending health care subsidies through the Affordable Care Act, which are set to expire at the end of the year. Without them, health insurance premiums on Obamacare markets will skyrocket for many individuals and families.
First of all, the AFGE statement SHOULD put pressure on the Democrats to stop their games. Secondly, it’s the Democrats who voted in Obamacare and never gave Republicans time to read that damned bill. Third, it’s the Democrats who voted the Obamacare timeline in, the one that is this year. Fourth, Democrats want our tax dollars spent on healthcare for those here illegally. And then everyone wonders why
A. insurance premiums have gone up every year and will continue to do so
B. Due to the rising costs of Obamacare and other factors, insurers have been pulling out of rural communities and states over the last few years.
But the Democrats want their games and are ignoring reality.

The federal workers union isn’t playing those games.
Reopen the government immediately under a clean continuing resolution that allows continued debate on larger issues.
Ensure back pay for every single employee who has served or been forced to stay home through no fault of their own.
Work together on a bipartisan basis to address important policy matters like addressing rising costs and fixing the broken appropriations process.
None of these steps favor one political side over another. They favor the American people – who expect stability from their government and responsibility from their leaders.
The national interest requires Congress to act immediately to bring every federal employee back to work, pay them for the work they’ve already done (or been locked out from doing), and continue having the debates and disagreements that are the hallmark of a strong democracy – without punishing the people who keep our nation running.
The government belongs to all of us. Let’s open it back up and keep America moving forward.
Yes, this statement is most definitely aimed at the Democrats. Why?
Per @BradOnMessage 100% of AFGE’s political donations went to Democrats in 2024 (that is how significant this moment is for Democrats). https://t.co/RIL8lrAfGV

Well, isn’t that something? HotAir’s Ed Morrissey took a look and found that ninety four percent of the AFGE members campaign donations went to Democrats.
If the Democrats continue their shutdown games after this blunt warning, the fallout from the AFGE and others will be quite the show.
