At what point does Fani Willis and her constant screwing around (literally and figuratively) become enough of an embarrassment for the people of Fulton County, Georgia?
While Judge Scott McAfee basically threw Fani Willis a lifeline by allowing her to stay on the Trump RICO case (so long as she fired her ex-lover Nathan Wade, who then resigned), the Fulton County Board of Ethics decided almost a month ago that they didn’t have jurisdiction over Willis and the ethics complaints being made against her. Uh, what now?
The Fulton County Board of Ethics was expected to hear two complaints against Willis after her romance with a special prosecutor on the election interference case involving former President Trump raised concerns of a conflict of interest.
The board determined it does not have jurisdiction over Willis, who is a state constitutional officer in her role, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The Hill requested comment from the Board of Ethics’s secretary and the clerk to the Fulton County Board of Commissioners.
Fulton County resident Steven Kramer filed one of the complaints, citing Willis’s relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade and questioning whether she improperly benefited from his hiring.
“The extra resources and financial costs for the court and the district attorney’s office, both paid for by Fulton County taxpayers like me, are to deal with this improper relationship,” Kramer wrote in his Feb. 14 complaint.
Well, wasn’t that super helpful! There are other legislative bodies who are investigating Fani Willis and the conduct by her office – specifically the Georgia state Senate Special Committee on Investigations, and the House Judiciary Committee (regarding the alleged misuse of federal funding) – but in the meantime, Willis is still working on the Trump case in Georgia while the defense appeals the case.
But because this is Fani Willis, and have already established that she is venal and unethical, there’s a new wrench in the works. And this one, if proven, would be a felony charge. Buckle up, everyone.
In a Tuesday interview with legal analyst Phil Holloway, attorney Christopher Kachouroff, who is representing Trump co-defendant Harrison Floyd, alleged that Willis recorded a phone call between her and one of Kachouroff’s Maryland-based colleagues without their knowledge.
“She did reach out to us, one of my colleagues in Maryland, and was rude, abrupt with him on the phone, and he was dealing with the Maryland case and I was dealing with the Georgia case, and she ended up recording him,” Kachouroff said.
While the majority of states have one-party consent laws that allow a conversation to be recorded so long as one person consents, there are 11 states, including Maryland, that require two-party consent. Under Maryland’s Wiretap Act, recording a private conversation without consent from both parties is punishable by up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $10,000, or both.
Asked by Holloway if he was alleging that Willis illegally recorded the call, Kachouroff replied, “Oh yeah, it’s a felony in Maryland.”
Floyd, who served as a senior campaign staffer for Trump’s 2020 campaign, was indicted in Georgia on three felony counts stemming from his alleged efforts to help Trump overturn his loss in the state. The charges include racketeering, conspiracy to solicit false statements and influencing witnesses. He is also facing federal charges for allegedly assaulting an FBI agent in Maryland. He has pleaded not guilty.

Now, I am not a lawyer, so I have no idea how the law works across state lines in a case like this. Georgia only requires one-party consent to recording calls, but Fani Willis placed the call to Maryland, which requires two-party consent. Kachouroff would have to have some solid legal evidence to make that claim – and who told him that a recording was even made? Guess what? FANI WILLIS DID. She gave a recording of the phone call to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution to prove a point about her case against Harrison Floyd!

Well now, this has escalated quickly

This woman is a legal GENIUS. You sure picked a winner, Fulton County!
I have doubts that an actual felony case in Maryland will be brought against Willis, but I am more than happy to be proven wrong. Regardless, the accusation gives the Fulton County District Attorney and her office another potential “own goal,” where she continues to look completely inept and arrogant, while still insisting that she is the best person to prosecute Donald Trump in Georgia. Until the Georgia Court of Appeals decides on whether or not they will review Judge McAfee’s ruling, Fani Willis is going to continue to be the proverbial bull in a china shop, wrecking her own case and not giving a damn because she thinks she is untouchable.
