If you have children, this video is the stuff of your nightmares. As the mother of a child the same age as the boy at the center of this story, it strikes way too close to home. The first question anyone should be asking about this story is “Why would a child of eight be driven to take their own life?”. Well in this case the answer is one that is all too commonly tossed around by the media and celebrities these days-bullying. Only in this case, it wasn’t just mocking and making someone feel bad about themselves, it was actual physical abuse. I will warn people who have good hearts, watching the video below will make you sick to your stomach. This precious child is knocked unconscious and other children walk into the bathroom, see him passed out and only take the opportunity to mock him, nudge him, or even kick him while he is out.

As a parent I want to understand what THE HELL is wrong with the people who are raising the children in this Cincinnati, OH school. Why do children who are just eight or nine years old simply walk past a classmate who is passed out in the bathroom?? Why do they not seek help immediately? Why are there no adults being told to help this child? Does the adult to the left in the video above not see Gabriel’s legs? I would certainly hope that my son would come find an adult quickly, and I have faith that he would. But then, my child is highly empathetic to others-something I take no credit for since he has always been that way. I simply thank God that he has never lost that quality and pray that he never will. Unfortunately for little Gabriel, none of the children who are walking in and out of this bathroom seem to be empathetic at all.
The assault, and that is exactly what this is mind you, is described in an article published by the Daily Mail:
“Immediately before the shocking assault, the video shows the assailant, who is wearing a red and gray coat and sporting a dyed hairstyle, walking into the bathroom.
In the early parts of the footage, the boy is seen consorting with his friends.
At one point, he knocks another classmate down to the floor by hitting him in the stomach, sending him down on all fours.
The boy with the dyed hair is then seen leaving the bathroom. He returns moments later and greets Gabriel, who is wearing a hooded jacket, in the bathroom.
It appears as if the boy and Gabriel are shaking hands. What happens next is unclear.
Gabriel falls suddenly to the ground and appears unconscious, though it is impossible to discern what exactly the boy did to him.
Attorneys for Gabriel’s mother who saw the video claim that he was thrown against the wall, though that is difficult to discern from the footage that has been released.”
“According to her attorneys, Reynolds didn’t learn of the bullying until the attorneys received a copy of a police investigative file that contained an email from a homicide detective to school officials describing the surveillance video.”
Could this sweet child, previously described by those who knew and loved him as a “happy go lucky kid”, have been saved had the school simply come clean with his mother about what had happened? Do they know the full story of what had been going on prior to this horrific incident? I doubt that the school had any clue as to what was truly going on here. I do think that they saw a huge lawsuit looming over their heads with this video. I sincerely hope that the law finds them all wanting and throws the proverbial book at everyone in a “leadership” role in that school and even the district. Our children deserve better. Our society deserves better. Certainly this sweet boy deserved better.
Things like this make me very glad that my son is older now, and not in a school like this. May God watch over this poor family, and may the “children” in the video and their “parents” get what they deserve in life…
Scott,
I could not agree more. As the mother of a child the same age it turns my stomach. Mostly I fail to understand what is wrong with the parents and the other children. Their lack of empathy is truly disturbing to me.
There are those times when “The deeper the sorrow the less the tongue has it” seems to apply. This is one of them. In prayer for all, VALman
VALman,
Amen to that sir. Amen.
