CNN is one of the largest international news organizations. Unlike us snarky bloggers, the anchors and reporters are supposedly trained professionals and are supposed to be less biased than we are. But CNN Anchor Ashley Banfield went for the story and acted the fool. She would have made the Star or the National Enquirer staff blush in fact. Ms. Banfield was interviewing Jeffrey Lord who is a Trump supporter and according to the Jerusalem Post asked him this:
“If you supplant the word ‘Jews’ for ‘Muslims’ in a lot of the rhetoric that we’ve had this morning, I think people would find it sort of cringe-worthy and reminiscent of a really ugly time in our history,” Banfield said. “There have been Jewish terrorist attacks. Should we therefore ask no Jews to please apply for a visa?”
Yes she did say that folks. She elaborated to the horror and rightful outrage of the Jerusalem Post and its readers (and this writer):
The CNN anchor then provided specifics examples: “From a period of 1980 to 1985 there were a reported 18 terror attacks committed in the United States by Jews, 15 of them committed by the Jewish Defense League,” Banfield said. ‘The head of the Jewish Defense league was in jail awaiting trial…accused of trying to bomb a mosque in Culver City, trying to bomb [US Congressman] Darrel Issa’s office, an Arab-American.”
Quick note for context. The JDL was a small terror group and were about as popular as Jews for Jesus (a group it should be noted that the JDL went after ferociously) with the Jewish community. To make her analogy fail more, the knuckleheads doing the aforementioned terrorist acts were local idiots. Sort of like the Klan and FALN and the Black Panthers (and other idiots) But Ms. Banfield is not talking about a specific terror group: she used a broad brush and used an old canard which Mr. Lord called her out for:
“Are you really saying to me that there’s an international Jewish conspiracy to take over the world?” Lord asked in response.

She pretty much implied that to the delight of the lovely jihadists and charming folks on neo nazi sites.
“There are no Jews coming to [the US] to destroy America,” Lord added.
That would be the difference. Note that most of us want better security after San Bernardino and Paris at the very least. Protection for our citizens and for actual immigrants while not importing terrorists is common sense. And yes Mr. Trump is a bigot Ms. Banfield but we knew that already. Trump has established himself as the big mouthed drunken uncle at the family reunion who spouts off some of the stupidest things after a few beers. CNN however matched Trump’s rant with a rant. Not a good idea.
Worth noting: the JDL is a home-grown terrorist organization, established by Meir Kahane in New York City and headquartered in the US. So importing Jewish terrorism was essentially a moot point.
Donald Trump is not a bigot, and it’s pathetic for you to write such a stupid thing. Muslims are causing havoc everywhere they go, why in God’s name would we want to import more of them into our country, our polity, our culture? At the very least we should ONLY allow in those who swear off Sharia, and are truly willing to culturally and civically assimilate, and pledge allegiance to our constitution and its principles. Because Islam is simply not compatible with enlightenment cultures, such as our own.
