cindy sheehan, barack obama, and the anti-war left

anti-war leftist cindy sheehan, feeling quite left out in the age of obama, has penned a letter to the narcissist in chief threatening to camp out at the washington memorial – all for peas, er peace.

cindy says this:

Dear Mr. Obama,

I hear that you were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize recently in Oslo, Norway and that, in addition to that spiffy medal, it comes with 1.4 million tax-free dollars that you are going to “donate to charity.”

I just want to let you know that there are still some of us in the US who oppose the wars, even though you are president, and its nothing personal, but I vehemently oppose your wars and especially oppose the escalation of troops to Afghanistan and the fact that there has been no de-escalation from Iraq.

It has been super-tough being a peace activist since you took office, because a lot of my colleagues supported your candidacy and gave you a “wait and see”and “give him a chance,” while I have been working against these policies since Bush was president and have never stopped.

Well, I don´t know if you have heard, but I am planning on setting up a Camp right across the street from your house on the lawn of the Washington Monument called–Camp OUT NOW–Not only will it be an anti-war Camp, but it will also be a community for people who have lost their jobs and homes during the past years of the Goldman Sachs depression. Also, while the need is rising, the city of Washington, DC is cutting back on services for the poor.

Mr. Obama, Camp OUT NOW will provide services to these people AND be the launching pad for what we hope will end the mad wars for profit and imperial power in Iraq-Afghanistan-Pakistan.

You proposed a “Just War” theory during your Nobel acceptance speech and I just want to also let you know that we don´t think, and never have thought, these wars are “Just,” but we think what we are doing, beginning March 13th is extremely, “Just.” I think if you thought about it really hard, you would agree. We are saving the lives of Americans and our brothers and sisters in the Middle East.

Well, Mr. Obama, the reason that I am writing to you is to apply for part of that money that you will be donating to charity. We don´t need all of it, but my coalition–Peace of the Action–could use a couple of hundred thousand of it!

Please go to www.PeaceoftheAction.org for more info about our efforts, which we are hoping will, “Make you do it.”

You can go to www.Paypal.com and put in my email address: Cindy@CindySheehansSoapbox.com to make a donation online, or mail a check to:

PO BOX 6264
Vacaville, Ca 95696

You did say, time and again, during your campaign that we the people had to “make you,” and Peace of the Action will do just that! We just want to be of service to show you the way to Peace.

Thanks for your consideration,

Cindy Sheehan
Director of the Peace of the Action Coalition

poor cindy – at least she is consistent – but i hope she doesn’t hold her breath for any $$. with the ascention of obama, there is no anti-war movement left. the anti-war lefties say they’re ‘tired’. and frankly the media is no longer interested in embarrassing a president so they get little-to-no coverage even when they do protest.

the truth always comes out in the end. it was never about war, costs, and innocents killed for them anyway — it was always about a visceral hatred for president bush and the gluttonous, complicit media that gleefully promoted that hatred.

Maybe the big O, before he signs the $1.1 trillion new spending package, can take a little cash from the $2.7 million being given to study surgical procedures in outer space and give it to Cindy. It makes about as much sense. Then perhaps he can walk across the street to Camp Out Now, hand over a couple of bucks to her personally and have a weenie roast with the loon.

  • Scarlett says:

Of course there’s still an “anti-war movement”!! We do have our own issues with the president on sending more troops and in regards to closing down the tax-funding torture camp aka Guantanamo Bay but by in large, we are willing to give him some time to do what needs to be done well. It is impossible to clean up Bush’s messes in a short amount of time. Sometimes you have to get involved a bit more to clean up a freakin mistake like Iraq and Afghanistan. So buzz off.

  • Ken says:

“in regards to closing down the tax-funding torture camp aka Guantanamo Bay”

Scarlett, since you’re so adamant about declaring that our armed forces are “torturers”, I’m sure you can provide a story that proves torture took place at Gitmo. I’d love to read it. I look forward to your link, but I won’t hold my breath.

“we are willing to give him some time to do what needs to be done well.”

Translation: “He’s OUR guy so its ok when he lies”.

“It is impossible to clean up Bush’s messes in a short amount of time.”

Gosh, how original, I see we’ve been watching Olbermann on a regular basis!!

“Sometimes you have to get involved a bit more to clean up a freakin mistake like Iraq and Afghanistan.”

A bit more involved? Is that liberal speak for “He had to be forced to take time away from his golf game to make a decision on Afghanistan.”???

    “So buzz off.”

    Very mature.

I think Cindy has the right idea here. Obama has been shelling out money to criminal organizations like ACORN, why not Cindy?!

  • PenniePan says:

Barack Obama is still very anti-war. He is one of us Scarlette. He can’t just move the colossal mistakes of Shrub on a dime. Be more patient. As far as Cindy Shehann… She is a die hard anti-war advocate. She doesn’t care about who is president, she just wants the bloodshed to end. She also knows she’ll get that from a democrat not a war monger republican.

  • Ken says:

“Barack Obama is still very anti-war.”

Really? What gave it away, was it his sending 30,000 troops to Afghanistan that makes him “anti-war”??

    God, you people are idiots.

  • Ken says:

Perhaps this is why Obama has a lower approval rating than JIMMY CARTER as a first term president:

    http://content.usatoday.com/communities/theoval/post/2009/12/poll-obama-job-approval-at-49/1

“The latest survey, taken Friday through Sunday, puts the president’s approval at 49%-46%. That is Obama’s narrowest margin of the year, with his approval matching his low point in early October and his disapproval matching his high point later that month.”

“Gallup Poll ratings for the others: George W. Bush was at 86%, in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks; John Kennedy at 77%; the elder George Bush at 71%; Dwight Eisenhower at 69%; Richard Nixon at 59%; Jimmy Carter at 57%; and Bill Clinton at 54%.”

    Ouch!!!

  • Dade says:

Kate, your conclusions are dead wrong.

“the truth always comes out in the end. it was never about war, costs, and innocents killed for them anyway — it was always about a visceral hatred for president bush and the gluttonous, complicit media that gleefully promoted that hatred.”

    Wrong, Kate.

It was never about visceral hatred for Junior. It was about war, costs, and innocents killed. The visceral hatred for Junior developed as a result of his decisions.

You can believe what you want to believe. But, speaking for myself, I’m telling you the way it is.

I’m not going to respond to anyone that replies to this post. If you believe that I was driven to hate Bush just for the sake of hatred, I have nothing to say to you.

  • Ken says:

“Kate, your conclusions are dead wrong.”

Well, it’s a matter of opinion, Dade. Kate is entitled to hers just as you are entitled to yours. However, you cannot ignore the fact that the left seems to be giving Obama a pass on the very same things that they attacked Bush for. That’s where the conclusions were drawn from.

“It was about war, costs, and innocents killed. The visceral hatred for Junior developed as a result of his decisions.”

I can definitely see your point on that and if that is your conclusion then so be it, there is nothihng wrong with that.

“I’m not going to respond to anyone that replies to this post. If you believe that I was driven to hate Bush just for the sake of hatred, I have nothing to say to you.”

Well, perhaps for you, that is true. If you say that is the reason that YOU don’t like Bush, then I believe you. I don’t know what good refusing to respond to anyone will do. That seems much more like Pennie, Scarlett, Jane, or the other trolls we have, not you.

  • Dade says:

    Ken,

Thank you for the respect implied by believing that my motives are sincere.

  • kate says:

dade i am sorry you took this post so personal. i have never lumped you in with what i call the far left moonbats (though i realize you are far left) who i write about here. i actually respect your positions though i strongly disagree with them. i am sorry you don’t respect mine.

  • micky says:

“Barack Obama is still very anti-war. He is one of us Scarlette. He can’t just move the colossal mistakes of Shrub on a dime. Be more patient.”

Right, thats why clueless Barry has had to retain so many of Bushs security and foreign policies and even enhancing a few of them.
Yeah, I believe Obama is limp wristed pansy ass when it comes to war but when hes been in that bind ( the dictation of common sense)he always seems to come down on the side of Bushs ideas.

  • Dade says:

    Kate,

I consider you a friend and I do respect your opinions.
