You may have caught this little scene yesterday, as Al Sharpton escorted a wide-eyed Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake—she followed behind like a frightened puppy—from a press conference, flanked by security, who then got into a scuffle with a FOX news reporter when he simply tried to ask the mayor a couple of questions. You can watch that exchange here. What stood out most was that Mayor Rawlings-Blake was provided with adequate security, the very same thing she denied area residents and police, whom she reportedly ordered to “stand down.” The result was dozens of severe injuries to officers. On her watch.
So. Will there be any repercussions for the Mayor’s absolute dereliction of duty preceding, during, and after Monday night’s chaos? That’s the million-dollar question. And things are getting interesting: According to a self-described police officer named “Jeff” who called into a Baltimore area talk-radio show, the police want her out. Like now. And they’re organizing to do just that. Take a listen:

While everyone is focused on “Justice for Freddie Gray,” where is the justice for those brave officers who stood the line, as an incompetent mayor, wholly out of her league, reportedly ordered that they not defend the city, nor themselves?
Mayor Rawlings-Blake should give the police officers what they want: Her immediate, and unconditional, resignation.
