Those who actually watched the funeral of Charlie Kirk yesterday from beginning to end could tell this was no ordinary funeral.
As I said yesterday, it had more of the feeling of a Billy Graham revival crusade than anything else I’ve seen in a few decades. And despite the huge turnout in person, the number of people who watched the funeral via TV, streaming services, X, or Turning Point USA’s YouTube channel probably dwarfs the in-person numbers on the scale of hundreds of thousands. That won’t even count the clips from various speeches that will get shared around for a long time on social media, racking up even more views and influencing even more hearts and minds.
But the left has spent the last week and a half attempting to trash Charlie Kirk. They couldn’t defeat his arguments when he was alive, but have attempted to manipulate and demonize those same arguments after his death. Jasmine Crockett was the latest to pull this act, on the very morning of the funeral.
Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett likened assassinated Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk to a “confederate” on Sunday as she attempted to justify voting against a resolution honoring him.
Every Republican voted in support of the resolution on Friday, but 58 Democrats voted against it. On CNN’s “State of the Union,” Crockett cited the fact that he had criticized her as a reason she did not support the resolution.
“[A] month prior to him passing away, he had actually gotten out on his podcast … and he was talking negatively about me directly,” Crockett said. “So if there was any way that I was going to honor somebody who decided that they were just going to negatively talk about me and proclaim that I was somehow involved in the great white replacement? Yeah, I‘m not honoring that kind of stuff, especially as a civil rights attorney and … knowing that there were people that died, people that were willing to die, that worked to make sure that voices like mine could exist in this place.”
“So to me, just like we wanted to make sure that those Confederate relics were taken down, the idea of a new age relic being propped up was something that I just could not subscribe to,” she added. “And it is unfortunate that more of my colleagues, even on my side of the aisle, could not see the amount of harm that this man was attempting to inflict upon our communities.”
Scott Jennings spoke out on CNN after Crockett’s comments, but she and others are not going to change. They will just keep repeating the lies and the smears because Charlie Kirk is dead, and they can, because if they have to admit that the shooter swallowed all their rhetoric whole, and shot someone who disagreed with them simply because he believed what he had heard, then what does it all mean? They couldn’t POSSIBLY be the cause of Charlie’s death, because that would mean that they might have been wrong, and a very good man who was willing to engage in honest debate was murdered because he was talking to them.
So it is much easier for the left to ignore all the faith-filled elements of the funeral, ignore the testimonies of Charlie Kirk’s life, faith, beliefs, and the appeal of the Gospel message, and instead cherry-pick what they want to complain about. In this case, they will complain about the eulogy given by President Trump, especially when he said that unlike Charlie Kirk, he “hates” his opponents.
OK, people get that Trump was being funny here right? Like this was hilarious and I’m seeing folks analyzing it like a serious theological statement. I don’t believe Trump is a Christian, but he was obviously joking here.
Lighten up people!

Was that the best thing to say? Nope. Did Trump mean it as a joke, to contrast himself with Charlie Kirk? Probably. Was this the overwhelming message of any of the speeches given? No. Is this the line the left is using to bitch and moan about the funeral? Apparently, yes. They’re going to ignore everything Erika Kirk said about forgiveness and move straight to “RAGEFEST.”
Incredible. The widow forgave her husband's killer, ffs. pic.twitter.com/2Vp2AJK77H

Not to be outdone by HuffPost, CNN declared that Trump was using “divisive rhetoric” at the funeral – conveniently forgetting that Jasmine Crockett had just been on their network earlier in the day comparing Charlie Kirk a “Condeferate relic” because he hurt her feelings. And other “journalists” followed suit, choosing to focus on what President Trump said over the powerful message of forgiveness that Erika Kirk proclaimed.
This is all former CNN media reporter Oliver Darcy could muster in his newsletter Status about the Charlie Kirk memorial service.
Predictably, this was his conclusion, not the Gospel being proclaimed, emotional tributes, or Erika Kirk forgiving the suspect charged with murder. pic.twitter.com/6jm0Y52MqJ

This doesn’t even scratch the surface of the truly nasty people on X and Bluesky who are willing to say anything for engagement clicks and throwing red meat to the hard left base. And heaven help you if you DARE to express any level of sympathy for Erika Kirk. Aaron Rupar, who is an infamously dishonest broker on social media, did that. While not all of the replies were like this, far too many people are comfortable saying such utter vile garbage.
The reaction from many of Aaron’s followers: https://t.co/6nZDP3Frdh pic.twitter.com/g8WuWk6ox3

Anyone mocking Erika Kirk in this moment, or before, is simply a ghoul looking for attention.
They are noticing Erika Kirk has 3 K's in her name and calling her KKK. https://t.co/QS9PXooxTt

Yeah, the left is coping JUST GREAT.
The nation has said a formal farewell to Charlie Kirk, but now the real work begins. The left wants to selectively pick out what aggravates them, and ignore the rest of the messages of hope, faith, life eternal, and forgiveness. For those who listened to the whole of Charlie’s message, and the funeral itself, we are asked to live like Charlie – in courage for our faith, and in pity for those so in love with darkness that they would rather side with a murderer than examine their own souls.
