Army Mission Statement: Duty, Honor, Country No Longer Apply

The Army has a new mission statement. It’s now a word salad that makes it glaringly clear that Duty, Honor, Country no longer apply, but is, in fact, only a “slogan” because reasons.

This week, West Point superintendent Lt. Gen. Steve W. Gilland presented the revised mission statement. According to the statement, cadets will be taught “Army values,” which include courage, honor, duty, respect, selflessness, loyalty, and integrity.

The move was communicated by the superintendent in a letter to all supporters of the institution and “the Long Gray Line” on Monday. He mentioned that Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George and Secretary Christine E. Wormuth approved of it. Yet, the official slogan of the service is “Duty, Honor, Country.”

Gen. George stated, “Duty, Honor, Country is foundational to the United States Military Academy’s culture and will always remain our motto. It defines who we are as an institution and as graduates of West Point. These three hallowed words are the hallmark of the cadet experience and bind the Long Gray Line together across our great history.” The mandate to “assess ourselves regularly” led to a revision in the mission statement’s language.

The new mission is a complete word salad that parrots today’s woke inclusive mantras and inspires no one. For example:

RESPECT

Treat people as they should be treated. In the Soldier’s Code, we pledge to “treat others with dignity and respect while expecting others to do the same.”

SELFLESS SERVICE

Put the welfare of the nation, the Army and your subordinates before your own. Selfless service is larger than just one person.

Was it dignified and respectful to have members of our military kicked out due to asinine vaccine mandates? NO.

Was it selfless service when the Secretary of Defense goes AWOL and leaves everyone including Biden himself in the dark about his medical issues? NO.

Was it respectful and selfless to put our military at risk during the Afghanistan withdrawal which left thirteen of our own killed in action? Not. One. Bit.

The new motto goes further.

HONOR

Live up to Army values. The nation’s highest military award is The Medal of Honor. This award goes to Soldiers who make honor a matter of daily living — Soldiers who develop the habit of being honorable, and solidify that habit with every value choice they make. Honor is a matter of carrying out, acting, and living the values of respect, duty, loyalty, selfless service, integrity and personal courage in everything you do.

INTEGRITY

Do what’s right, legally and morally. Integrity is a quality you develop by adhering to moral principles.

Is there honor and integrity in putting pronouns and transgender ideologies first in our military? No. Did the Secretary of Defense conduct himself with honor and integrity these last few months? No, Lloyd did not.

Furthermore, the Medal of Honor is not a participation trophy. It is not something that just falls into one’s lap for doing their job. It is not a reward for showing up. It is an honor that is earned by going above and beyond in crucial moments that matter, IN BATTLE. There is a reason why all those who wear the Medal of Honor call themselves RECIPIENTS:

The living Recipients do not view the Medal of Honor as something that was won, like one might win a race. They view the Medal as something that was bestowed upon them to carry as a symbol of the sacrifices of all who have served.

So, hardcore bedrock VALUES are now being replaced with feel-good word salads. This benefits our military how? According to the letter the Army sent out to the West Point Cadets, it seems that Duty, Honor, and Country aren’t inspirational enough and doesn’t speak to the mission of the Army as a whole. WOW.

Remember Spenser Rapone, the Commie Cadet

And now, not too many years later, the Army’s mission is no longer that of discipline, strength, Duty, Honor, or Country. In fact, country is omitted altogether. Is it any wonder that recruiting numbers are down?

The MacArthur Society of West Point Graduates is, understandably, NOT pleased.

The problem with this change is West Point isn’t Bud Light. And never should be.

West Point is the cradle for Army values as the formerly monastic, professional school for soldiers. It’s the castle keep for maintaining the Army values to keep the Army’s promise to the American People – “This We’ll Defend.” The seven Army Values are an expansion of what West Point brings to the Army for most of our Nation’s history from its motto “Duty, Honor, Country.”

No one can improve on the Gettysburg Address as a statement of America’s national purpose. Likewise, no one can improve on the bedrock values of Duty, Honor, Country for West Point and the U.S. Army with flexible, corporate “Army Values.”

Read it all. And then reflect upon what Duty, Honor, Country really means. From General Douglas MacArthur:

“Your mission remains fixed, determined, unchanging. It is to win our wars.”

THAT is and should always be the mission and values of our Army and our military as a whole.

DEI is just the OCD version of DIE. Most of the young people who would otherwise enlist know that, and are staying away. If you want to recruit people who are willing to die for the country, you must provide a country worth dying for.

Considering the behavior of Austin and Milley, and many others, we have a senior officer corps that is corrupt, incompetent and disloyal.

The service academies have long been cesspools, and should have been closed long ago.
