Can you FEEL the excitement?? Celebrities met with Michelle Obama at the Time 100 Most Influential People Awards gala, and boy, were they thrilled. Did you know that Michelle Obama is the best First Lady we’ve ever had? Like, EVER?
Though the room was filled with luminaries from around the world, most were star-struck to be in First Lady’s company – even old friend Oprah Winfrey, her tablemate at the event. (See more in Gatecrasher, pages, 26-27)
“Seeing as how Michelle is the greatest First Lady we’ve ever known, not to take anything away from the other First Ladies, but I think its so fantastic that she’s tonight’s guest and leads the pack of influentials,” Winfrey told the Daily News.
“I think that we see that Michelle is someone of multi-dimensions, and that you don’t have to be just one thing, you can be many things,” said Diane Sawyer. “In many ways were just getting to know all that she can and will do.”
“She’s very warm. She’s very sane,” said “The View” co-host Joy Behar. “She’s not crazy like some people in politics.”
“Michelle is incredible, I think she’s amazing,” said designer and Beatles scion Stella McCartney, who also made Time’s list. “The half-American in me wants to dress her.”
Other nominees took things more in stride.
On being in the same category as Obama, Whoopi Goldberg quipped, “What does Michelle Obama think about being in the same category as Whoopi Goldberg? That’s the real question.”
First, can I just comment on the irony of Joy Behar commenting on someone’s sanity? That little tidbit made me giggle. I don’t think Joy Behar, of all people, is qualified to determine whether someone is considered crazy or sane.
And of course, no other First Ladies were ever multi-dimensional, were they? Like Oprah said, Michelle is the best First Lady EVER. Better than Abigail Adams, who had tremendous political influence with her husband, John Adams — so much so that she was referred to as “Mrs. President”. Better than the notably warm and generous Dolley Madison, who saved the potrait of George Washington from the White House in 1814 as it burned, set ablaze by the British. Better than Martha Washington, who — along with her husband George Washington — willingly sacrificed the quiet lives they cherished in order to lead a country that needed them. Better than Jacqueline Kennedy, who brought culture and history to the White House, and whose courage after her husband’s assassination inspired a nation. Better than Nancy Reagan, who showed amazing devotion to her husband and campaigned tirelessly for a multitude of charities, notably for preventing drug and alcohol abuse.
Michelle Obama is better than all these women. And why? Because she looks nice in haute couture. Because she’s got sculpted arms. I guess being in the White House for just over 100 days qualifies her to be the best First Lady ever. And of course, she doesn’t actually have to do anything notable to be the best First Lady ever. Oprah said so, and Michelle’s married to the Obamamessiah, so it must be so.
Really, all of this is sickening. And it’s disrespectful and demeaning to the history of our country, to the men and women who have fought and sacrificed and directed this country. Michelle has accomplished nothing as First Lady, yet we’re supposed to deify her. Disgusting.
Hat Tip: Jammie Wearing Fool
As much as I dislike her, even Hilary Clinton deserved some mention over Michelle Obama.
I agree with you. 100 days in does not make you the ‘greatest First Lady ever.” *sigh*
These folks need an intervention. Obama worship carried to another extreme.

might be good for a laugh
I am thrilled that your first mention of a truly worthy first lady was Abigail Adams! These pathetic progressives know nothing of honor, nothing of character, nothing of capability. They all hoover around their political-pop-culture idols and sleep through the destruction of our country by bobama and company. Makes me wish to vomit. But where are our patriots today? Where are the leaders who will protect and defend our constitution, which was so very expensive to obtain? As a conservative who cannot stomach the lies from politicians from either/any party, I crave a true patriot to step forward and ROCK THIS COUNTRY back to its foundations. Thanks for the blog…God speed.
Betty Ford, anyone? She is an incredibly brave woman.
“Seeing as how Michelle is the greatest First Lady we’ve ever known,”
…based on what?? Quitting her make work job at the hospital? Wearing $540 sneaks to a charity event?? Getting a dog for her daughters??? What has she done (other than marry The One™ ) to make her the “greatest First Lady we’ve ever known”?
I think it’s very telling that Diane Sawyer, a journalist, was unabashedly gushing about Michelle Obama, which pretty much proves that many journalists have a sort of hero-worship of the Obamas. I think we can pretty much forget about having any serious reporting for the next 4-8 years from the general media.
I have *never* expected any serious reporting from the general media. This is nothing new.
Well, these ‘progressives’ do have a limited view of history. Obama, Clinton, perhaps FDR… Well, lately it seems to be either Obama or nothing. You’re right, this is ridiculous. I need another drink.
Ignorance of history is a prerequisite for liberalism.
Michelle who?
You forget…she also planted a garden! I saw the photos…I now know I’ve been dressing all wrong when I’m digging up sod. There’s just nothing the woman can’t do…except maybe be grateful.
Since she’s been compared to a Klingon in looks, she should be labeled the greatest first lady in the solar system.
But some folks interviewed on CNN right after the election admitted that they voted just to see Michelle in the White House–that is equivalent to greatness, right?
She doesn’t even have to accomplish anything to be the greatest FL ever! She’s just that great.
Greatest? Since Imelda Marcos?
In the US line, it is way too early to tell.
And she has some competition, including some I don’t like very well.
In no particular order, I think of Laura Bush, Mamie Eisenhower, Bess Truman, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jacqueline Kennedy… and improbably others.
Heh. Some times my typos are my best work.
“… and improbably others.”
Of course I intended to write “…and probably others” like Betty Ford, Patricia Nixon.
Hillary Clinton should probably get a mention, but I’m not sure what part is “greatness”–not killing her husband, or not doing what would have been worse for the world, divorcing him…..
How about Edith Wilson? She was pretty much the President for a year. I suppose that pales in comparison to a political payoff job at a hospital though.
I really wouldn’t expect anything but a joke to come from anything related to the Time 100 though. I’ve rarely seen a bigger joke of an award. A mid level Nigerian government official has more influence than half the people that wind up on those lists.
Oprah is multi-dimensional: dumb and dumber.
Well, I must say, with how she’s wearing her bangs now, you can hardly see her forehead pulsating with hatred for capitalism and the white man’s Jew religion.
Michelle. Pfft.
Racist bitch.
Michelle O has established a new standard of being beautiful…
All michelle o has done so far,is simply be black. She has no foriegn cooth. She does nothing profound but gathers with other wealthy black people to make herself look imporntant. i myself am tired of the famed black office. over-exploitation of ones own race is a sign of true racism………………………..
