October isn’t just for fall, changing leaves and pumpkin spice anymore. Loudoun County Public Schools has added LGBTQ+ History Month to the calendar, because evidently June wasn’t enough. And once again, I’m left wondering why public schools are spending so much time on this stuff instead of just teaching kids.
Loudoun County Public Schools in Virginia has declared October 2026 LGBTQ+ History Month. In its proclamation, the district encourages staff, students and the community to honor and celebrate the history and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community during October and throughout the school year.
Throughout the school year only makes it worse, but October isn’t the issue either. The issue is why a public school district has decided that sexuality and gender identity are things students should be taught. Much less encouraged to honor and celebrate.

I could have sworn President Trump signed executive orders aimed at getting gender ideology out of public schools. He did. The problem is those orders deal largely with federal policy and federal funding. They don’t magically stop every local school district from doing things like this.
So here we are. Loudoun County can declare LGBTQ+ History Month, encourage students to celebrate it and keep pushing the subject throughout the school year.
Which brings me right back to the same question: Why?
These are public schools. Or maybe state-owned schools is more fitting these days. Teach kids to read. Teach them to write. Teach them math, science and history. Their sexuality and gender identity can be left off the lesson plan.
We already have Pride Month to deal with every June. There are Pride flags, parades, corporate logos and celebrations everywhere you look. But I guess June presents one little problem for the schools. The kids are out for summer. Well, we certainly can’t have them missing out, can we?
And remember, they aren’t simply acknowledging that LGBTQ people exist or teaching about someone who happens to be gay and also happens to be part of history. The district specifically wants students to honor and celebrate LGBTQ+ history. There’s a difference between teaching something and telling kids they should celebrate it.
If someone belongs in a history lesson, teach the history. We don’t need to sort everyone who ever did something important by who they slept with.
I’d like to suggest Christian History Month next. We can encourage all the students to learn about it, honor it, and celebrate it throughout the school year. Maybe we could create these too: Traditional Family Month, Mother-Father-Family Month, Religious Freedom Month, or even American Founding Month.
I’m sure nobody would have a problem with that.
That was one of my first questions. If Loudoun County wants LGBTQ+ History Month in its schools, can parents simply say no thanks and have their child sit this one out?
According to the district, there is nothing to opt out of because the proclamation doesn’t require students to participate in anything.
Well, that’s convenient.
If nothing is required, then what exactly does honor and celebrate mean once it makes its way into classrooms? Parents might want to pay very close attention to that.
Meanwhile, new CDC numbers show LGB identification among teenagers is dropping. Among ninth-grade girls, it fell from 30 percent in 2021 to 17 percent in 2025.
That’s quite a drop.
And while those numbers are heading down, Loudoun County schools are heading in the other direction, making sexual identity an even bigger part of school life. They have to create those liberal leaning demographic groups for future voting blocs, after all.
Here’s a thought. Just teach history. All of it.
If someone did something important, teach it. I don’t need to know who every historical figure slept with any more than kids need to know who George Washington found attractive. Not everything needs to be sorted by race, sex, sexuality or whatever other box we’ve decided everyone belongs in.
History is history. Teach what happened, who did it and why it mattered.
Then get back to reading, writing and arithmetic. We could probably use a little more of that.

Living veterans, and those that died for our country each get one day…sodomites get a full month ( or now two in Loudoun county).. once again, the left is telling g us what they value…and just as telling what they don’t
Anything that needs constant validation to exist, doesn’t.It’s a damnation-al moral crime to convince the innocent to sin,to fake validation for their selfish and wicked ways.
I have started using the hashtag #LGBTQ(silentP) on my website.
Yeah, I went to school in the days of quill pens and inkwells, but none of us knew, or cared, about our teachers’ sex lives. We knew that the vast majority were married, but really, we never thought about them f’ing. Who would?
Of course, we were very concerned about sex, for ourselves, because all teenagers are.
