Star Wars – Senator Mark Kelly Versus Elon Musk

Everyone used to think astronauts were so smart. Must be, right? They passed lots of tests. The only people who think that now have never heard Bill Nelson, former astronaut, former Senator and current NASA Administrator speak. Dear God. Watch this here. Right! Now, former astronaut and current sitting Senator Mark Kelly is going to add to the stupid by picking a fight with tech entrepreneur, DOGE tech support and Space X owner Elon Musk. We are going to call this battle “Star Wars”.

Democrats have gone extra insane since Trump whooped them on November 5, 2024. Astronaut and Navy Captain Mark Kelly has long been extra and has added some special sauce to that extra. When he got back from visiting Ukraine, he posted about that war torn country with a dig or two at President Trump. From The Mary Sue:

Billionaire Elon Musk and Democratic Senator Mark Kelly have traded barbs, following the latter’s recent trip to Ukraine. For context, the Arizona Senator shared images of his visit to Ukraine in a thread on X, amid the Trump administration’s seeming pushback against the war torn country and its President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“What I saw proved to me we can’t give up on the Ukrainian people. Everyone wants this war to end, but any agreement has to protect Ukraine’s security and can’t be a giveaway to Putin,” Kelly wrote in the caption of the photos, referencing the growing sentiment that Trump is sympathizing with Russia amid the Russia-Ukraine war.

Aw, for cryin’ out loud. Nobody here likes Vladimir Putin. We spit on Vladimir Putin. Well, not literally. I was raised to be a lady, but we all despise Putin. Even though it would be easy to say Putin is like Darth Vader in Star Wars, he’s really more like Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine. Nobody roots for him to win. But how many people have to die in the meat grinder before the war lovers blood lust is sated?

More from The Mary Sue:

In reply to Kelly’s X post, Musk branded him “a traitor,” even though the U.S. and Ukraine have (at least before Trump’s second term) long maintained cordial and strategic relations. Despite that, Musk’s disapproval of Kelly’s trip to Ukraine is perhaps unsurprising, since the billionaire and DOGE leader has echoed Trump’s criticisms of Zelenskyy in the past. Last week, he joined the administration’s Zelenskyy pile-on by labeling the president as “cruel and inhumane” for his supposed refusal to “seek peace” with Russia — an anti-Ukraine sentiment that he reiterated with his message to Kelly.

Traitor is way harsh for Elon to say. But our DOGE Luke Skywalker is young and new to this political game. I think Kelly is just naive about the geopolitical games being dangerously played. But Kelly responded to Elon’s traitor:

Kelly even made a video asserting that while he made an oath to the United States when he commissioned in the Navy, he (Kelly) was sure the only oath Musk took was to fellow billionaires. Oy:

I told you Kelly is dumb as a box of rocks on Tatooine in Star Wars. Elon Musk came to the United States in 1992 as a college student. Musk took the oath of citizenship a decade later in 2002. According to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, the oath Musk took is not dissimilar to the oath Kelly took when he commissioned:

Oath

“I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God.”

Note: In certain circumstances there can be a modification or waiver of the Oath of Allegiance. See the USCIS Policy Manual.

The principles embodied in the Oath are codified in Section 337(a) in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), which provides that all applicants shall take an oath that incorporates the substance of the following:

Support the Constitution;
Renounce and abjure absolutely and entirely all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which the applicant was before a subject or citizen;
Support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;
Bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and
A. Bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; or
B. Perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; or
C. Perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law.

Kelly should not wrap himself in the oath he probably took many times, every promotion, in the United States Navy.

Now, let us all enjoy the Star Wars when Musk sends up a rocket to rescue the stranded astronauts.

    My $$$$$$$ is on Musk. Kelly’s merely a paid passenger, and a whiny one at that.

  • Cameron says:

    Senator Kelly, you have made your career of of your wife’s head wound. STFU already.

  • Mad Celt says:

    Kelly got indoctrinated into a worldview that his oath could not deal with in logic. Think of the poor, dumb followers of Jim Jones who actually thought they were serving Christ. Right up to the moment they had to chose between the Poisoned Flavor Aid or a bullet to the skull.
