We are truly living in the “find out,” as the government bureaucrats that make up the permanent Deep State continue to “f*** around” and then reap the consequences.
Today, it is FEMA. The organization has a new acting director appointed by President Trump, Cameron Hamilton, who has been a critic of the agency in the past, as POLITICO so helpfully reminded everyone. Given the spectacular disaster that FEMA is right now, a critic running the agency, who is in alignment with the president’s goals, is exactly what is needed.
Obviously, the staffers that make up FEMA see things differently and have their own political agendas, as we have seen. And despite the executive orders that Trump has issued to curtail spending, DOGE uncovered some FEMA employees sending millions to New York City for illegal migrants. Elon Musk broke that news on X, saying:
The @DOGE team just discovered that FEMA sent $59M LAST WEEK to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants.
Sending this money violated the law and is in gross insubordination to the President’s executive order.
That money is meant for American disaster relief and instead is being spent on high end hotels for illegals!
A clawback demand will be made today to recoup those funds.
Acting FEMA Administrator Hamilton responded promptly.

Hamilton also pointed out that Congress should not have tasked FEMA with paying for housing illegals through their “Shelter and Services Program,” which has shoveled out hundreds of millions of dollars. Well, it seems some FEMA employees didn’t think sending another $59 million would be noticed, or they just didn’t care.
Today, they are finding out they were wrong.
The Department of Homeland Security told Fox News that “four employees are being fired today for circumventing leadership and unilaterally making the egregious payment for hotels for migrants in New York City.”
The firings come after Elon Musk wrote on X Monday that “The DOGE team just discovered that FEMA sent $59M LAST WEEK to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants.”
“Firings include FEMA’s Chief Financial Officer, two program analysts and a grant specialist,” the DHS also said. “Under President Trump and Secretary Noem’s leadership, DHS will not sit idly and allow deep state activists to undermine the will and safety of the American people.”
As was reported, FEMA Chief Financial Officer Mary Comans was indeed fired.

Comans and her team are reported to be holding the pursestrings of FEMA, so firing them is sending a huge message.
Now, one of the problems that the Trump administration and DOGE have been running into have been judges insisting that the government continue on exactly as it always has, even issuing restraining orders to prevent USAID employees from being put on paid leave, or putting a hold on the buyout option that the administration was offering federal workers. It is possible that Comans and the other three who were fired may go straight to a judge to attempt to get their jobs back, as lawfare seems to be the rule of the day (at least until the Supreme Court is forced to step in). However, since Comans and the other FEMA employees are being fired “for cause” quite publicly, their attempt to save their jobs would definitely be harder. Is it possible that some lawyer would take up the case? Sure, and that will likely be their next move. Is it a smart move, considering they are being shown the door from the federal workforce, and will likely need to move on? Perhaps not.
What is obvious is that President Trump has lost patience with FEMA as an agency, and thinks that states should be allowed to handle their own disaster emergencies.

So, well done, Mary Comans and company. Your end run malfeasance may end up shuttering FEMA altogether! I’m sure many other FEMA employees will be lining up to thank you, if that happens.
We can’t say this often enough – there is a new sheriff in town. The status quo is being shattered into tiny little pieces. The power that has been invested over the course of time (and Congress’s inaction) in the Executive Branch is now being wielded by one very focused Donald Trump. The Deep State is trying to fight back in the courts, but eventually, the Supreme Court will have to step in and determine who runs the bureaucracy of the Executive Branch – the president, or the bureaucrats desperate to hang on to their jobs and power.

Wfjag says: I expect to see many of the issues which the Dems are trying to litigate becoming provisions in the Reconciliation bill which the Trump Administration will have the Republicans enact in the near future. I expect to see express power to put employees of leave with pay while agencies are audited, and for the buyouts. I expect that USAID will become a fairly minor State Dept program and grants to Non-Profits will have many restrictions and reporting requirements attached to them, including that the Non-Profit spend the grant money and account for the spending. The big avenues for hiding the grifts will be shut down, and that will cut off much of the money that’s been used to pay for the Dem astroturfing.
The omnibus appropriation bill expires on the Ides of March, meaning that FEMA, USAID, and all of the other wasteful programs run out of money. The GOP no longer needs Democratic votes, as long as it’s passed under reconciliation — which cannot be filibustered — and need to appropriate only the good and necessary things. We don’t have to fire FEMA or other workers if there is no money appropriated for their salaries!

This is the first time I’ve seen Schatz throw a tantrum,with all the investigations in the USAID going and all the illegal spending he shouldn’t be doing that, unless he himself took some funds to support the ever wasted rail project in Hawaii.
