Handmaid’s Tale Fantasy Spreads Through Liberal Women

Since the second election of President Donald Trump last week, sales of The Handmaid’s Tale dystopian novel put it back in the top ten. As a strong Conservative Christian woman, I have not read the book and have no desire to read it. The subjects of the book are not my cuppa. I don’t have fantasies that tend that way. The fantasy is going viral through the women of The Left. If you add the book and Trump together, those women have some wicked weird fantasies. It really seems with the popularity of the book and series that the females and the female cosplayers have a weird dystopian bdsm sex fantasy

If you have avoided the Handmaid’s Tale, like me, here is a synopsis of the plot:

The Handmaid’s Tale is a futuristic dystopian novel[6] by Canadian author Margaret Atwood published in 1985.[7] It is set in a near-future New England in a patriarchal, totalitarian theonomic state known as the Republic of Gilead, which has overthrown the United States government.[8] Offred is the central character and narrator and one of the “Handmaids”: women who are forcibly assigned to produce children for the “Commanders”, who are the ruling class in Gilead.

Ick. But, wait there’s more. Christianity is the main villain and power behind the patriarchy:

Like the Kingdom of God, the Republic of Gilead is both now and not yet. Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel The Handmaid’s Tale conjures a theocratic dystopia—a version of the United States taken over by fundamentalist Christians after a terrorist attack on Washington. Women are now divided into rigid classes determined by an idiosyncratic interpretation of the Bible. Atwood’s protagonist, Offred, is a Handmaid—a fallen woman who is forced to bear children for righteous couples—and the book follows her sufferings under the Gilead regime. Atwood paints in garish strokes intended to shock: This new society calls homosexuality “gender treachery” and forbids women to read, own property, or choose their own clothing.

The Lesbian couple is ready to go to war or to the wall because of their Handmaid’s Tale fantasies:

Writing in Salon, Hanh Nguyen is ready to run with the theme:

We’re all Under His Eye once again.

With the reelection of Donald Trump as president this past week, sales of Margaret Atwood’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” have experienced a surge in sales

The novel saw a 6,866% rise in sales based on Amazon figures early Thursday, reports CNN. Before Election Day the books ranked at 209, but shot up to No. 3 after the election. It places 9th on Barnes & Noble’s list of bestsellers. Written in 1985, “The Handmaid’s Tale” presents a totalitarian society known as Gilead in which fertile women are enslaved and sexually assaulted in order to bear children for the ruling class. The book inspired Hulu’s Emmy -winning TV series adaptation of the same name starring Elisabeth Moss.

The themes of the novel and series have resonated as reproductive rights like abortion and other health care concerns have been rolled back. The novel was also popular during Trump’s first term as president.

Not for nothing that the book was written during President Ronald Reagan’s second term. These women have been harboring these fantasies for 40 years. My friends have been too busy studying, working, traveling and then there is range time. And, my friends aren’t the ones who jumped on the mask, government shutdown and vaccine mandate bandwagon. That was Liberal women. AND men. Remember:

That wasn’t the people on the Right. The Left jumps into Fascism and Cults every chance they get. They make up fantasies to start fascistic movements.

If men (the patriarchy) won’t oppress them then women will oppress each other.

What a collection of numpties. More from Salon:

Before the election, Atwood had tweeted on X an editorial cartoon that referenced “The Handmaid’s Tale” in a hopeful fashion, in which women lined up and dressed in the oppressive handmaid’s cloak and hood would emerge from the voting booth in modern attire. After the election, however, she posted the photo of a weeping Lady Liberty with the caption, “Despair is not an option.”

These women are going to be soooooo disappointed. They have had the Handmaid’s Tale fantasies, some for forty years, and yet they are having to oppress themselves. Damn that Donald Trump. I can’t stop laughing.

Wait a minute, I thought they were all going to embrace 4B and swear off men altogether.
    Talk about cognitive dissociation!

    • GWB says:

Well, they’re going to swear off men, but TRUMP the AVENGER will force them to have sex, anyway. Because, you know, they have no agency in any of this.

  • Lewis says:

“Kamala Harris supporters have shaved their heads, made blue bracelets, and will be wearing mask… so they can easily identity each other.”

So easily identifiable! Thank God, now if we see one of these coming we can quick take a detour!

  • Mad Celt says:

These women were mentally ill long before anyone had heard of Kamala Harris and will be ill when Harris is senile.

  • Cameron says:

I really feel bad for the young men who are in the dating pool right now.

    • Scott says:

Yep. My son asks me regularly if there’s something wrong with him, and I keep telling him no bud, in your generation, Sheldon had it right.. “bitches be crazy”.. being indoctrinated since they were first exposed to govt run “education”, it’s not surprising that so many of them are mentally ill and unable to think rationally.. But it is sad..

  • Tim says:

Haven’t read it and don’t intend to, but looks like it’s describing a number of Muslim countries.

Oh, c’mon, Toni. If you’re going to write about these bizarre cultists, you really need to do something like “Since the SECOND COMING of TRUMP, the Avenger,…”. Go re-watch the original Ghostbusters for ideas. Because that’s how these people are viewing it – as if they’ve just seen a hand writing on the wall, “Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin.”

As a strong Conservative Christian woman, I have not read the book and have no desire to read it.
Heh. It seems to be the ONLY book these women have read. And, like most romance novels about certain kinks, it doesn’t correspond to reality in almost any way.

the female cosplayers have a weird dystopian bdsm sex fantasy
“Dystopian” being a key word there. Because BDSM is fairly tame as a kink nowadays.

an idiosyncratic interpretation of the Bible
That’s a pretty mild way of saying “bat-s**t crazy version of the Bible that’s more Koran than Bible.” But at least it’s an acknowledgement that it is NOT based on the actual Christian Bible.

as reproductive rights like abortion and other health care concerns have been rolled back
There is SO MUCH wrong with that sentence. Oy vey.

Kamala Harris supporters have shaved their heads
So, they’re admitting they’re NAZI collaborators?

    What a collection of numpties.
Ahhh, thank you for reminding me of that word. It’s a beautiful one.

When you get to the line, “They make up fantasies to start fascistic movements”, you get a duplicated tweet, then a quote followed by the same paragraph un-quoted. Weird.

  • Scott says:

These “progressive” women really do seem to have overriding BDSM fantasies, or serious daddy issues (or both).. I’m DAMN glad I’m well past the whole dating thing!

Years ago a friend of nine DJ’d in some pretty extreme clubs. He reported that all those blue hair, nose ring, my body feminists couldn’t wait to get on their knees and put the collar on. It was almost Freudian

  • M. Elston says:

That looks like a AI pix they created. None of the real pix of the shaved headed, blue bracelet XX’s were even that attractive, slim, or had that kind of eye makeup – plus no piercings? Fake pix.

  • Teacher_in_Tejas says:

Don’t forget Atwood originally got the idea for the book after watching the Mullahs in Iran send women’s rights and the whole country back about eight centuries in the late 70s, She admitted as such in early interviews, then she had to join the left in criticizing the Christian right in this country, and changed her tune. And of course the fact that she, as a good progressive would be pilloried if she dares criticize Islam, which as we all know is the true oppressor of women, Nope can’t have that.

  • John C. says:

The ironic thing is that conservative men would fight to the death to prevent something like “Gilead”, while liberal men would bemoan it while they sat on their hands.

  • Richard says:

    @ Tim
Atwood in fact got the idea for the costumes from a visit to Afghanistan.

  • Deoxy says:

“Before the election, Atwood had tweeted on X an editorial cartoon that referenced “The Handmaid’s Tale” in a hopeful fashion, in which women lined up and dressed in the oppressive handmaid’s cloak and hood would emerge from the voting booth in modern attire.”

I though that was a pretty accurate cartoon for what happened, actually – they were living in a dystopian regime that supported fundamentalist Islam (a MUCH closer fit to Handmaid’s Tale than any Christian group of any significant size that has ever existed), and after voting, they aren’t.

  • jbspry says:

Shaved heads, pussy hats, crimson robes, white bonnets…
For fierce, fiery, fearsome freedom fighters, feminists sure do love them some regimentation.

  • Wonkl says:

Just to be contrary, I remember reading the book, probably in the early 90s. I thought it was a decent read. Strong character development, and a nice job of moving her plot along.

I mean, she’s batshit crazy, overbearing and condescending (based on radio interviews) but an extraordinarily accomplished writer and technologist (she has a number of significant patents)
