Thoughts For Republicans On The State Of The Union

This is an election year, as you are well aware. Tonight’s State of the Union address will, with God’s beneficence, will be Creepy Joe Biden’s last SOTU. With that in mind, I would like to offer some thoughts to the Republicans on behavior and expectations. I know they both need and welcome the help.

DO NOT HECKLE ANYONE, ESPECIALLY DEMENTIA JOE

In the name of all that is Holy keep your yaps shut. Two years ago, Lauren (WTH) Boebert heckled Joe when he was about to talk about burn pits and his son Beau dying. Leave it, that’s what I tell my dog when he is about to touch something he shouldn’t. Each Congresscritter should be assigned a battle buddy who will remind him/her to “leave it” if they are about to heckle Joe.

Last year it was the irrepressible Marjorie Taylor-Green leading the heckling. From the L.A. Times:

In his address a year ago, he was handed a minor triumph by Republican zealots, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, whose heckling and the back-and-forth that followed showed he can still be quick on his feet. The president should hope for more of that kind of help again this year.

It went something like this:

I disagree that it showed Biden “can still be quick on his feet”, but it gave fodder to the Legacy Media. The L.A.Times is hoping that Joe is lucky enough to get heckled again.

So here’s a television recommendation rarely made before. This will be a State of the Union speech worth watching — even if the president isn’t lucky enough to get heckled again.

Y’all put on your Sunday Go To Meeting manners, and if some looks like they are going to have heckling thoughts, battle buddies remember “Leave It”. Biden will lie outrageously and you will be expected to heckle.

DON’T LOWER EXPECTATIONS

Please don’t lower, but raise expectations on Biden’s SOTU tonight. The New Republic thinks Biden should show vigor. Hell yeah, even if that vigor comes from his Adderall cocktail. Talk up the vigor:

For Biden, the substance of any potential in-the-moment sparring may matter less than the demonstration of energy behind the effort. “He needs to show a degree of vitality that helps answer the questions about his age,” said Matt Bennett, a Democratic strategist and the executive vice president of public affairs at Third Way. “Last year, he was completely in command. He actually owned the House Republicans who were shouting at him—and he was funny, and loose, and he ad-libbed well, and it really worked.”

I still disagree that he was on top of his game or loose, but he didn’t blank out for ten seconds. Keep those expectations high, gang. Guy Benson is spot on here:

You don’t have to do anything to raise expectations. You don’t have to gush. Just smile benignly. That will raise them enough.

REPUBLICAN ORDERS FOR THE DAY BEHAVE AND SMILE. That isn’t asking too much, I hope.

  • In brief… “Bend over and act like you’re enjoying it.”

But perhaps something could be done with “decorum.” A member could rise at each lie (at least once, and possibly more often for each sentence), and say “Mr. Speaker, I object to this falsehood, and request that it be stricken from the Congressional Record.”

Although, personally, I’m hoping that Mike Johnson has been practicing his paper ripping.

    • Toni Williams says:

I want the Pubbies to behave so that the legacy media will have to work harder to gaslight the sheep.
