Retired General and Trump Chief of Staff John Kelly has spilled the tea on former President Donald Trump and his “alleged” comments towards the military. I expect a smiting because Kelly is a Gold Star Dad who lost a Marine son, Robert, in 2010. As a Blue Star Mom, we do not contradict Gold Star parents under any circumstances. I expect and accept the smiting because John Kelly was and is wrong about Trump.
I grew up in the business world dealing with a lot of huge egos, but when it comes to power and egos, those businessmen have nothing on military generals. Milley, Austin, Kelly and now CQ Brown are political cyphers. Why do we even have Generals? We should make the Command Sergeants Major our the big dogs. They do all the work, right.
John Kelly is now affirming unflattering stories about the military and Donald Trump. From the Washington Examiner:
More than three years after an Atlantic article cited four sources claiming Trump called dead soldiers “losers” and dead Marines “suckers,” John Kelly, who served under Trump from July 2017 to January 2019, supported the reporting in a statement to CNN.
“What can I add that has not already been said?” Kelly said when asked if he had comments about his former boss. “A person that thinks those who defend their country in uniform, or are shot down or seriously wounded in combat, or spend years being tortured as POWs are all ‘suckers’ because ‘there is nothing in it for them.'”
“A person that did not want to be seen in the presence of military amputees because ‘it doesn’t look good for me.’ A person who demonstrated open contempt for a Gold Star family — for all Gold Star families — on TV during the 2016 campaign, and rants that our most precious heroes who gave their lives in America’s defense are ‘losers’ and wouldn’t visit their graves in France,” he continued.

In another 2017 incident, Trump allegedly insisted that no wounded veterans get the spotlight in a large military parade he was attempting to have planned.
“Those are the heroes,” Kelly replied, according to his book, “The Divider: Trump in the White House.”
“In our society, there’s only one group of people who are more heroic than they are – and they are buried over in Arlington.”
“I don’t want them,” Trump allegedly shot back. “It doesn’t look good for me.”
That episode mirrored a similar account in the recent profile from The Atlantic recounting Trump’s anger at having a wounded Army Captain sing for the chairman.
Wait, just a gosh darn minute. This Welcome Home Ceremony where a wounded Army Captain sang “God Bless America”? Milley is an effing liar.
I may have gotten tear-eyed when the Captain presented them all with his Challenge Coin.

Kelly further tore into Trump for being untruthful to the public.
“A person who is not truthful regarding his position on the protection of unborn life, on women, on minorities, on evangelical Christians, on Jews, on working men and women,” Kelly said in a statement.
Trump has publicly insisted that veterans and military service members “love me.”
Throughout his presidency, he crowed about trying to boost military pay, fighting to ensure soldiers got the weapons they needed, and working to end wars.

As a Blue Star parent, of a Marine, no less (and quite concerned about what the Biden Junta may do next summer) – those stars, whatever the color, do NOT miraculously make us into saints, not to be questioned. Sometimes the contrary!

Howy says: I said this at the time, and was told to shut up, and I will say it again. The father of a Gold Star family stood on the dias at the Democratic Party Presidential nominating convention and called Trump a racist. I have adamant respect sympathy and consolation for families who have lost loved ones in war, but they are not above criticism when they directly enter into politics. Trump never belittled this families sacrifice nor demeaned them in any disrespectful terms. He simply defended himself against outrageous accusations made at an entirely political event by a Democrat. Gold Star families do not possess unassailable moral authority when they willingly walk under the ropes into the political ring.
