The New York Times are excited to present the newest addition to the Portland protest scene: The Wall of Vets. So now it’s not just the “Wall of Moms,” and the “Wall of Dads” (with leaf blowers — how dad-like!) wading into the fray to protect protesters rioters from “Trump’s Stormtroopers.” Vets have joined up, too. And the NYT is like, SQUEEE!
One of the vets, Duston Obermeyer, who said he was a thrice-deployed Marine, told the NYT:
“Our veterans are here specifically to support the rights of the protesters to protest.”
Another Wall of Vets participant, Clint Hall, carried a sign which read “Disabled Veterans for BLM.” He also claimed that the tear gas that the federal officers fired to disperse the protesters rioters “felt worse than the tear gas he recalled from his time in the Army.”
Yet another Wall of Vets sign read:
“I am an American patriot. Federal troops defend property, but this does not give them the right to take away my constitutional freedom.”
And yet there was the sign holder, protesting under the protection of the First Amendment. Go figure.
Other men claiming vet status said they were there to express anger about how the feds treated a Navy veteran who challenged them. Earlier in the week, in the midst of rioting, Christopher David sauntered up to the officers with a question. He wanted to know if their actions were constitutional. As if these agents were going to stop and discuss the First Amendment over a steaming cup of Stumptown.
It did not go well.

How dare they! Because not only was David a veteran, but he’s a graduate of the US Naval Academy, too!
You know who else is a USNA graduate? Carter Page, and he graduated with honors, too. Never mind, though, he was part of Trump’s team.
But vets at the milblog This Ain’t Hell also had thoughts about Christopher David, whom they called “Lt. Sparkle Pony:”
“Lt. David knew exactly what he was doing and planned to make a spectacle of himself. He slathered himself up with Veteran patches with sole purpose of getting himself confronted by officers. “
“No, Christopher David walked up to a group of Officers trying to put an end to this nonsense and then has the temerity to act as if he is standing up to some kind of tyranny.”
However, this is whom the Wall of Vets are seeking to avenge.
I wonder: do these vets stand with this man? Gabe Johnson, a 48-year-old former Marine implored protesters rioters to stop destroying his city. He also carried an American flag into the fray.
Oh, and Gabe Johnson is black, too.

But even though the New York Times is eager to promote the Wall of Vets because of their veteran status, just remember: not all military vets are worth honoring.
Like this traitor, for example.

Let’s be blunt: just because someone is a vet, or a mom, or dad, or whoever gives off warm fuzzies, doesn’t mean they have any special credibility whatsoever. In fact, if they’re defending rioters, they’re also complicit in the violence.
As David Marcus wrote in The Federalist:
“Any single person on the streets giving cover to this violent mayhem is themselves a participant in the rioting and destruction.”
That goes for the Wall of Vets, too. Because they’re not being patriots, but instead are supporting anarchists who want to first tear down Portland, and eventually the nation.

Spot on Kim! Vindeman is vet too, and Kerry, and quite a few others (my sisters husband included), but they’ve shit all over their service since leaving the military, and are not worthy of shining a MOH recipients boots… Also, just because these shitbags claim to be vets doesn’t mean they are, or that they served honorably if they are. As you pointed out, there’s the side of law and order, and the side of terrorist rioters. These fools have chosen their side…
Just like the fictional parents chaperoning the riots, most of these supposed veterans are only impersonating the part.
You know who else is a USNA graduate?
Jimmy Carter.
You know who is a USMA graduate? That dude who was a commie and advocated for the overthrow of the Constitution.

This. And it’s a horrible mistake conservatives make. Which is why it’s a particular tactic of the progs.
Has anyone vetted these ‘vets’?

Aren’t we past the Cindy Sheehan syndrome yet? You don’t get the moral high ground because of some group you claim to belong to. Nor are you immune from honest criticism, no matter how many “cards” you can play.
And in this situation, I’d bet that at least half of these “vets” are phonies.
