1 Million Injured in Iraq and Afghanistan: A Milestone Forgotten

Mine will be the most transparent administration in history, he said. It won’t be shady and secretive like the ones before mine (cough*evilboosh*cough), he said. I have nothing to hide, he said.

And since no politicians elected to represent us will say it, allow me:

HE LIED.

Oh, I know, we just didn’t understand what he meant. My bad, brah.

Perhaps that would be why we are hearing nothing of this egregious milestone and chapter in the War on Terror: One million veterans have been injured fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan- but we won’t hear about it because that saintly and oh-so-efficient department, the Veterans Administration, has stopped reporting on those injuries.

Wait, wha?

Yep, according to the International Business Times, the Veterans Administration is no longer publishing this information, citing security concerns (unheard of in this administration, amirite?). Sure.

Why is this such a slap in the face? Well, other than the obvious opacity inherent in this administration, there is this from the article:

VA ceased to disclose this data despite President Obama’s second-term campaign pledge that his administration would be open and transparent. Absent information about the number of soldiers that have sought government medical help and about the types of injuries they had, policymakers, Capitol Hill and health care professionals may be hamstrung in making decisions about funding for crucial veterans’ health programs and the treatments and diagnostic tools that should be researched and targeted. The reliability of future military strategies could be in jeopardy as well.

Silly troops, they don’t need more funding for sacrificing life and limb. Don’t they know the war is over? King Obama ended it!

Ah, another day and another slap in the face of the military by those in charge of the world. SSDD.

If I had ten middle fingers, they would all be waving politely in this administration’s general direction. Transparency my red-white-and-plaid ass.

Thanks for this necessary reminder of those who have sacrificed life and limb, ROS. Too many have forgotten.

The way that this administration treats our veterans and those currently serving turns my stomach. It’s obscene. But then, what do we expect from a man who has zero experience in anything, and has never done jack in service of his country. But then, “what difference does it make,” right Hillary?

I join you in the ten-middle-finger salute.
