Yeah, let’s release terrorists into the U.S.!

Yeah, let’s release terrorists into the U.S.!

Our new Attorney General, Eric Holder, has just come up with the most brilliant plan. In this post-9/11 world, Democrats have been saying for years that it’s not just Republicans who can be tough on terror! Well, now that Democrats are finally completely in charge in Washington, what’s their brave new plan to keep Americans safe? Releasing terrorists into the United States!

Some of the Guantanamo Bay prisoners could be released into the United States while others could be put on trial in the American court system, Attorney General Eric Holder said on Wednesday.

Holder, who was chosen by President Barack Obama to lead the administration’s efforts to close the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba within a year, said the review of what to do with each of the prisoners had begun.

… Holder told reporters at the Justice Department that the administration’s review, made on a case-by-case basis, would determine whether the prisoners need to be put on trial or whether they can be released.

“For those who are in that second category, who can be released, there are a variety of options that we have. Among them is the possibility that we could release them into this country,” he said.

Holder said it was possible the 17 Chinese Muslims who have been held for years at Guantanamo, and two or three others prisoners, could be freed in the United States.

The 17 members of the Uighur ethic group have been cleared for release but have nonetheless remained at Guantanamo while the United States tries to find a country willing to take them. The U.S. government has said it cannot return them to China because they would face persecution there.

“We’ve been trying to come up with places for them,” Holder said of the Uighurs. Their lawyers have asked Obama to bring them to the United States.

Yeah, that’s brilliant. Let’s take men currently detained at Gitmo for terrorist activities and release them into the country that they would just love to do harm to. I mean, hey, without this new Gitmo-detainee-release program, why, it would just be so hard for these men to accomplish their goals. Eric Holder is just helping them bypass all those nasty laws.

Of course, one would think that Obama & Co. would take the hint when no European country would accept any of the Gitmo detainees. Could it be because they aren’t cute little innocent angels, and are dangerous, murderous terrorists who hate western civilization?

With plans like these, it will be a miracle if we can survive the next four years without another terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

But they’re all innocent. The europeans have been telling us this for years. Why won’t they take these poor downtrodden souls and offer them sanctuary in their own countries?

Obama is different, he’s willing to listen to other nations. Surely they will be willing to reciprocate with cooperation and support?

The sheer forcefulness of will and charm from our great teleprompter Messiah will ensure that there will be no terrorist attacks from these or any other terrorists wanting to attack us. Why can’t you all believe in the dream?

    No, I don’t believe it either. We’re screwed…

  • Kim du Toit says:

They can always leave one or two with me. I’d staple their feet to the floor and use them as workout punch-bags, then later, target practice at the range.

Hey… they’d do all that to ME, if they could.

Let’s all chip in and get them a house next to Eric Holder.

We WILL be attacked again. And Obamessiah and his media cronies WILL find a way to pass the blame.

Cassy is, of course, doing a great public service by reminding us all just how dangerous every single one of the Guantanamo detainees really is. After all, they’re in Guantanamo — that alone is evidence enough of their terrorist tendencies, right? The military doesn’t make mistakes. The Bush Administration certainly never made any mistakes. If they shipped someone to Guantanamo, it was because his terrorist activities were well known and thoroughly documented. Right? Right?

But not everyone has made as serious and comprehensive a study of the crimes of these detainees as Cassy Fiano has. So, Cassy, would you do us all a great favor, and remind us: Exactly what terrorist acts do we know were committed by the seventeen Chinese Uighurs? After all, if they are released, we need to know what to expect.

Thanks, Cassy. I just know you’ll come through with this vital information.

When Obama won the election, I was thinking to myself, What’s he really going to do about Guantanamo now? Because if he really starts releasing these people, and one of them is then involved in an attack on the U.S., surely the American people are going to screaming mad at the administration. Indeed, if he releases these prisoners and there is an attack on the U.S., even if it is not clear that any of the released prisoners are involved, surely there will be plenty of questions raised about whether some of them MIGHT have been involved. Whereas if he just keeps them locked up, there seems to be minimal political risk.

Well, it looks like Obama hasn’t thought of this, or thinks that if he releases these people they will just be so grateful and filled with love and respect for out new president that they wouldn’t dream of being involved in further terrorist acts, or maybe he has some plan on how he’s going to deflect the blame. Of course the media will do all they can to help him out, but if there was a really big terrorist attack, another 9/11 style attack, it would be tough to sweep it under the rug. I can’t help but wonder if he has a plan or if he is just incredibly naive.

Meatbrain and plenty of other liberals seem to be confused about the distinction between a “war” and a “crime”. When someone commits a crime, we require evidence of guilt and we impose a sentence proportionate to that crime. When the sentence is over, he is released. When someone is captured in a war, he is put in a prisoner of war camp until the war is over, at which time he is released. The point is not to punish him for being a member of an enemy army — most people recognize that he likely sees that as his patriotic duty to his own country, or perhaps he was drafted and had no choice in the matter. Either way, we are not trying to punish him for serving his country. We just want to prevent him from killing our people. So we lock him up until the war is over. We don’t look for evidence that any particular enemy soldier actually killed one of our citizens or otherwise plotted against us. The fact that he is part of an enemy army is all that matters. This is not some crazy idea that the Bush administration thought of. This is how it is has been done by pretty much every country in the world since the beginning of recorded history. The U.S. took plenty of German soldiers and spies prisoner during World Wars I and II — when Democrats were president, I might note — without having individual trials for each soldier.

Yap yap yappity-yap yap yap yappity-yap yap yap yappity-yap yap yap yappity-yap…

Lots of hot air, no facts.

Where is the evidence that the Uighurs were ever “enemy soldiers” of any kind? Where is the evidence that they were ever “dangerous, murderous terrorists who hate western civilization”?

Cassy Fiano is living in a fantasy world. She lacks the courage to examine the basis of her views — or the lack thereof. She stays happily ignorant of the facts, and bases her beliefs solely on the bull puckey that circulates in the wingnut echo chamber.

I’ve never understood the logic of this so-called “problem.” Why the hell does this country face any moral responsibility for what some other country might or might not do to the people we send there?

It’s one thing if some other country refuses to take some prisoner that we believe originally came from there…but if they’re willing to, I don’t see the problem.

The only aspect of extradition that I DO have a problem with, is when we have reason to believe that the other nation would release this scumbag once he’s turned over to them. Even our allies have done this from time to time…the 1985 Achille Lauro incident comes to mind. I think the Italians let the terrorists go after our servicemen based in Sicily were forced to hand the bad guys over to the local authorities.

  • meat..brain says:

    Cassy?

    Hello?

Where are those facts that prove that the Uighurs are dangerous, SCAAAAARRRRRYYY terrorists who must never be let go?

    Hmmmmm?

No appetite for fact-based discussion of your views?

    Gee, what a surprise…

    “meatbrain”: aptly named.

You and your fellow dimbulb zombies think it’s a great idea to give Gitmo terrorists welfare checks to live in Amerikkka, no doubt! I second the motion: please provide us with your home address (and phone #, naturally, plus social security number so we can make sure you’re, ah, responsible) and we’ll ship these fine Chinese Muslim lads to YOUR HOUSE. If I were you, I’d be learning posthaste how to cook a little halal-Chinese fusion, to keep them in the style to which they’ve become accustomed.

Better idea: let’s bunk ’em at the “White” house with Hussein.

    Shit-for-Brain, er, I mean MeatBrain:

Also, one other quick response for you, you sharp sharpie, since thinking among you drooling shitsack Obama drones is not your strongest suit: the very fact that NO OTHER COUNTRY wants them back, and that China will execute them if they return, should tell you volumes about whether they’re SCAAAAAAAARRRRRY terrorists.

By all means, though, continue sneering and mocking Americans who are justifiably outraged at this kind of behavior—they’re starting to pay attention, and blowback is gonna be a real bitch.

Note that, just like Cassy, “Legio” is unable to provide any fact-based argument that supports the assertion that the Uighurs are dangerous.

Exactly what terrorist acts do we know were committed by the seventeen Chinese Uighurs?

  • Jay is ignorant says:

“When someone is captured in a war, he is put in a prisoner of war camp until the war is over, at which time he is released.”

This is what you said Jay. Here is the problem with that…….WE ARE NOT IN ANY REAL WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The war on terror is like the war on drugs…a joke. Can’t really have a POW if there is no actual war, now can you?

The fact is, people have been rounded up and arrested in this supposed war on terror and the Iraq conflict (we have not actually declared war since even before Vietnam) with no regard to whether they did anything wrong other than being in the wrong place at the right time.

I am just passing through and will not be back, but feel free to respond, I just won’t see it
