Mollie Tibbetts’ Murder: Where’s the outrage?

For a month, the country has wondered what happened to 20-year-old Mollie Tibbetts. The young woman went for a run one day and never returned. Her family waited, praying she would return  safely. Those prayers were dashed yesterday when a body believed to be Mollie’s was discovered in a field near of Brooklyn, Iowa. Charged with her murder is 24-year-old Cristhian Bahena Rivera. It is bad enough to know a promising young college student will never again return home, her life cut short in an act of violence. Worse, Rivera is an illegal alien — sorry, undocumented immigrant — who has lived in the area for some years. The real slap in the face, however, is the lack of outrage by the media. Buried in the vast majority of the coverage about Mollie’s murder is the fact she was killed by someone in this country illegally.

Solid police work led to Rivera’s arrest. A security video obtained during a neighborhood canvas led them to Rivera’s vehicle. That vehicle was seen driving back and forth during the time the video captured Mollie Tibbetts jogging. In an interview with police Monday, Rivera admitted he parked his car and run up behind Mollie. She reacted as most of us would. She pulled out her cell phone and warned him she would call the police.

“I can’t really speak to you about the motive,” Rick Rahn, special agent in charge at the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, said. “I can just tell you it seems that he followed her and seemed to be drawn to her on that particular day and for whatever reason he chose to abduct her.”

Rahn can’t tell us because Rivera oh-so-conveniently can’t remember what happened. All he told authorities is that he panicked. According to the New York Times, he “blocked” the memory of what happened next. He claims this is what happens when he gets upset. When he came back to himself, or however you want to describe it, he was in his car and he turned back around to an entrance to the cornfield. Oh, and there was part of a pair of headphones in his lap and he suddenly remembered he’d put “a woman” in the trunk of his car.

Did he call the police then?

No.

Did he open the trunk and try to help the young woman he’d kidnapped?

No.

Instead, Rivera parked the car, went around to the trunk and opened it up. Seeing blood on the young woman’s head, on Mollie’s head, I guess he panicked again. He pulled her out of the trunk, slung her over his shoulder and carried her deeper into the cornfield. This man, and I use that term loosely, left her there, covered with corn leaves. Not once did he try to help her. Not once did he let authorities know where she was. No, like the monster he is, he simply returned to his car and drove off.

Where is the media outrage over what happened to Mollie Tibbetts? Michelle Malkin said it best.

A family is without a beloved daughter. The nation is once again faced with the loss of a promising young life at the hands of someone who couldn’t be bothered to come to our country legally. Yet the media downplays Rivera’s immigration status because it doesn’t follow the approved narrative.

Mollie Tibbetts deserves better than that. Her family deserves better than that. Every immigrant who has come to this country legally, every one who has come here illegally but who has taken steps to correct their immigration status deserves better than that.

Where is the outrage

Little White Dove Warren pivoted to the “babies and mommas separated at the border” narrative to achieve moral equivalence. That’s what communists do.

    • Amanda Green says:

She’s shameless when it comes to promoting her cause du jour. Hasn’t a care one for the Tibbetts family, and she certainly doesn’t care about using them to try to score political points.

  • Barbara says:

Cheap labor is more important than US citizen lives. Money over pretty promising girls. Money over safety. Money over the young. Money over the law. Money over what the public demands. MONEY. This girl died for the money in some corporate dairy farmer’s (it is a corporate family who successfully lobbies for non-enforcement of all of our laws) pocket who is now “so sorry” this happened. Liar. Money. Greed. No more virtue signalling. It is money and that is all they care about and certainly not girls, women, children or even adults killed by their dead-eyed imported psychopaths. Anytime illegal aliens are whiningly mentioned MONEY should be shouted at them.

What will be interesting to see how it plays out is the owner’s claim they did check the SS# the killer gave them. The defense attorney says he’s “legal” (he pays taxes, after all). The state says, nope. He’s illegal and using a stolen SS#.

  • Bill G says:

“Where is the media outrage over what happened to Mollie Tibbetts? ” Missing.
But when the murderer’s lawyer came up with a claim that the killer really was here legally there was a sudden spurt of interest. It proved false, and the interest has died out again.

    • Amanda Green says:

Yep. Even more telling, however, is how they stopped with the claim of legality. They didn’t add the attorney’s definition meant only that he’d been supposedly paying his taxes, etc., not that he’d taken any steps to legalize his continued presence in our country.

  • Jim Mason says:

There’s no outrage because demcrats HATE us,and WANT us dead… They tell us this over and over.

  • Lee says:

Never has anyone who lived within 100 miles of a cornfield used the term “corn leaves”.

  • AR says:

Being from Iowa, there is definitely no shortage of outrage here. Additionally, the media in Iowa are running stories, updates and commentaries nonstop and my social media feeds are full of outrage from my fellow Iowans. I don’t know how this is playing outside the state, but it’s all anyone is talking about here.

    • Amanda Green says:

The media is too busy playing with Elizabeth Warren, et al, who are trying to make this into how we shouldn’t be trying to keep out illegal immigrants and separating families, etc. Same ole, same ole.

  • Sam L. says:

I’m sure the enemedia see this as strictly (very strictly) a local story.

    • Amanda Green says:

Judging by what AR says above, yep. Plus, it doesn’t fit the message they are trying to push. If it doesn’t fit the message, bury it.

  • GWB says:

He claims this is what happens when he gets upset.
This means he was psychotic and should be put down immediately.
    Period.

    • Amanda Green says:

Can’t you imaging the howls from the libs if they saw this? Hehehehehe

There might be exploding heads. VBEG

  • MikeE says:

Stephen King says Mollie’s death is no big deal. Stephen King is a dyed-in-the-hide Democrat and always has been.

  • Jim says:

Sam: ”I’m sure the enemedia see this as strictly (very strictly) a local story.”

It’s not just a local story; it made the local newspapers here in Australia.

  • Jim says:

    Hi Amanda,

The reporting this morning was up to date with the US reports and quite factual in it’s detailed telling. I think the underlying interest here in Australia is the issue of illegal immigration and the immigration of people who come from culturally different countries, e.g. Sudan, who are bringing with them ”tribal” patterns of aggressive behaviour. This is especially in the State of Victoria where car-jacking, armed home invasions, armed robberies of jewellery stores by machete-wielding gangs – the government will not call them gangs – of aggressive African youths has come out of nowhere. [The Police seem loathe to take a hard line about these Sudanese youths lest they be accused of discrimination so that, during a recent riot of 100 or so youths they chanted at the Police ”You can’t touch us!”] There are also issues with Lebanese family-based gangs. The longer term issue is the issue of illegal immigration auspiced by professional people smugglers living in countries to the North of Australia. Illegal immigration was a massive problem when the left wing [Labor] government discarded legal prohibitions when it was in power some years ago and thousands came by boat and thousands drowned. The Liberal Government now in power stopped the problem by sending people back and/or holding them in detention. The Social Justice Warriors want all our borders open to anyone who wants to come, but there is growing consensus that there have been too many immigrants, too quickly and little assimilation by many into the existing culture and society. Also we are a country of only about 25 million and the welfare costs in supporting thousands who are illiterate, do not speak English and not productive are massive. That does not seem to bother socialists who believe money grows on trees. The Federal Government is deporting immigrants with criminal records as quickly as it can.

“Where is the outrage?”, it’s reserved for those that have the audacity to point out that this criminal was here illegally, and that if we would build a wall, and get rid of those who have broken our laws to get here, that Mollie Tibbetts (and many others) would still be alive…
