Great Glock Commercial and Weekend Links

Glock. The Free Market and the Second Amendment in one user-friendly package! Of course not everyone sees it that way. The liberals in power work really hard to to destroy both the free marketplace AND the 2A. Case in point: here, here, and here. But to be fair, not every liberal is against gun ownership, just most of them. I actually do know a few libs, just not many, who even own guns and shoot them regularly.

Television, especially the three big networks, can be a very hostile environment to gun manufacturers by restricting free speech, limiting their advertising ability. Take this Glock commercial below: a strong and independent woman – the antithesis of the government-dependent females that liberals work so hard to project. This Glock commercial also flies in the face of the liberal argument against gun rights that the average gun-toting citizen is more likely to get shot by his/her own gun than to use successfully in self-protection. Personally, I think it’s pretty great, and she has my birthday gun.

Fun, wasn’t it? Now, purists would say that intruders don’t always come through the front door – which is an argument for always having your firearm on you. But of course in this particular commercial, she didn’t have any place to wear it. Others would argue that in home protection, a lock box slows you down, and a hiding place is much more effective. Maybe. But if you have kids, you need your firearms locked up. In this particular situation though, I would have already had the gun in my hand when I went to the door the first time. But I get the point, don’t you?

My ONLY real problem with this scenario, and by virtue the commercial, is that once the intruder crossed the threshold of her home, she should have put at least one in the center of body mass. If it were real life, that intruder would go through a revolving door after he’s booked; he may or may not go back to her home, but he WILL go to someone else’s.

Having a weapon IN the home is a good choice and necessary in order for home defense. It’s also our RIGHT. Sure its a commercial for Glock that should get lots more airtime… but the real bottom line in the commercial is that she has one, and is willing to defend herself.

A nice hidden message, in plain sight.

Great commercial, love the message. To be picky, she has her fingers up on the slide in the closeup of the Glock in her hands. And yes, as soon as he broke down my door, he would have been plugged, but that wouldn’t have made it acceptable(eye roll) to place on television, although I think most of the commercial networks have bans on gun advertising anyway.
Additionally, she just arrived home, which meant that either 1. she wasn’t carrying while she was out shopping, etc. 2. she was carrying and then put the gun in the safe, which didn’t make a lot of sense.

Keep some everyday items at strategic places around your home. I have done so with the following scheme: 1) does the item blend into its surrounding, so it wouldn’t necessarily be obvious to an intruder; 2) its location is based upon its potential use; 3) I’ve envisioned how I would use it and under what circumstances; 4) I’ve also thought about how I might use in combination, if necessary. These are secondary defense sources, should I not be able to use the primary ones.
