You have got to be kidding me.

You have got to be kidding me.

The House actually passed a resolution condemning Joe Wilson’s outburst against Obama. You have got to be kidding me.

The House passed a “resolution of disapproval,” considered the mildest form of punishment for a member, by a 240-179 vote that fell largely along partisan lines. Seven Republicans voted to rebuke Wilson, while 12 Democrats voted against the measure.

Wilson addressed the chamber, but did not apologize for shouting at President Barack Obama during the joint session last week.

“I think it is clear there are far more important issues than what we are doing right now,” Wilson said. “It is time we move on.”

Republicans didn’t defend Wilson’s finger-pointing shout at Obama during the joint session. But they stressed that Wilson had already apologized privately to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) called the resolution a “partisan stunt.”

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.), who did almost all the talking for the Democratic side, said it wasn’t partisanship, but enforcing the rules and decorum of the House.

“Silence gives consent,” Clyburn said. “We cannot be silent because we cannot consent to his conduct.”

The seven idiotic Republicans who voted for this abomination were:

Rep. Anh Cao (R-LA)
Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (R-MO)
Rep. Jeff Flake (R-AZ)
Rep. Bob Inglis (R-SC)
Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC)
Rep. Thomas Petri (R-WI)
Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA)

Sadly, my representative is included in the list (Rep. Jones). And yet twelve Democrats actually stood up against this craziness, and they were:

Rep. Michael Arcuri (D-NY)
Rep. William Delahunt (D-MA)
Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ)
Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY)
Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH)
Rep. Daniel Maffei (D-NY)
Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY)
Rep. James McDermott (D-WA)
Rep. Gwen Moore (D-WI)
Rep. Gene Taylor (D-MS)
Rep. Harry Teague (D-NM)

Oh, and let’s not forget that Joe Wilson is RAAAAAACIST!!! now, too:

Making an obvious reference to the Ku Klux Klan, Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., said Tuesday that people will be putting on “white hoods and white uniforms again and riding through the countryside” if emerging racist attitudes, which he says were subtly supported by Wilson, are not rebuked. He said Wilson must be disciplined as an example.

Gee, how original. Someone criticizes Obama and of course, they must be a racist.

Joe Wilson himself pointed out that Obama accepted his apology after Wilson both publicly apologized and then privately apologized as well. Why are Democrats still getting their panties all in a bunch? For most normal, mature people the issue would be over, but Democrats are still whining like 3rd graders.

Because being rude and disrespectful to the president was apparently only OK when the president has an (R) next to his name. Democrats certainly were never respectful to the president from 2000 – 2008. We have video proof of Democrats being just as rude and disruptive to President Bush in 2005.

And of course, like most incidents liberals get angry about, they aren’t really that angry about it. It’s just another manufactured outrage to cloud the real issue at hand. The more they can bring up the “YOU LIE!” outburst, the less people might think about what Obama was actually lying about — that his government run health care plan will cover illegal aliens. No one brings that inconvenient little tidbit up, because they don’t want you to think about that.

Of course, most disturbing is the notion that politicians now feel that being rude and disruptive to the president is worthy of a freaking House resolution. While of course people should be civil, I wonder just how the Founding Fathers would feel about that.

Even Kucinich gets one right, occasionally.

My local paper actually printed Maureen Dowd’s newest abomination citing racism, despite the fact that several days before, on the day of its original publication, the White House itself decried the column as nonsense. I was flabbergasted.

And, I’ve been saying it ever since Obama was nominated. If this guy becomes president, *thinking* anything bad about anything remotely related to him will brand you as a racist. It’s going to be a long three years.

  • Some hack at Fox, whose name I failed to catch, was asking a guest about Wilson’s membership in Sons of Confederate Veterans, along with his support for flying the Confederate flag over the SC statehouse. The obvious implication was that Wilson must be ‘racist’. These leaps of logic defy belief.

  • What a flippin’ joke. It boggles the mind……

  • MotherOfMayhem says:

Hail King Obama! Now all you white folk are no longer allowed to speak or look directly at a black man, or it will be considered racist.

I called Bob Inglis’ office just now and he claims that technically he broke the House rules, and so when the vote came up, he had no choice in the matter… Eh, take it for what it’s worth.
