joe wilson’s resolution of disapproval

joe wilson’s resolution of disapproval

well, the dems did it. by a 240-179 vote (with 5 present votes), the house of representatives has approved a ‘resolution of disapproval’ of congressman joe wilson’s ‘you lie!’ shout out to obama during the speech to congress on obamacare.

we know that the house democrats had offered joe wilson ‘a deal’ in which if he had publicly apologized on the floor of the house, there would be no resolution, but wilson rejected the offer of having nancy pelosi rub his nose in it.

besides the radical policy changes, these are the kinds petty political moves that happen when you lose elections.

you can see the text of the reprimand by going here and below are those who crossed over party lines in their vote:

Even though the vote was largely partisan, there were a few departures from party loyalty. Seven Republicans voted to rebuke Wilson: Rep. Joseph Cao of Louisiana, Joanne Emerson of Missouri, Jeff Flake of Arizona, Walter Jones of North Carolina, Tom Petri of Wisconsin, Dana Rohrabacher of California and fellow South Carolinian Bob Inglis.

But 12 Democrats voted no on the resolution: Michael Arcuri of New York, Bill Delahunt of Massachusetts, Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona, Maurice Hinchey of New York, Paul Hodes of New Hampshire, Dennis Kucinich of Ohio, Dan Maffei of New York, Eric Massa of New York, James McDermott of Washington, Gwen Moore of Wisconsin, Gene Taylor of Mississippi and Harry Teague of Arizona.

this is ridiculous. marquess of queensberry rules my butt. i still think his outburst was a spontaneous moment and in these days, we are seeing these ‘moments’ all over the country. obama IS a liar on obamacare and so is pelosi on the CIA interrogations – and the list of lying democrats go on and on.

  • Paul says:

Steny Hoyer offered an out for the racist Wilson in and effort to
end all of this. It was Joe Wilson’s own pride and the mileage he is getting for being the new darling to teabaggers that prompted this resolution of diapproval. It’s his own fault.

  • Scarlett says:

Joe Wilson deserved so much more like a sanction by the body! He has been incorrigible: just do or say something stupid and then play the victim role when you’re called out on it. That’s all he’s done for the last week while quietly raising a million dollar war chest! Joe Wilson is not only a heckler, he is also a racist.

  • PenniePan says:

Scarlett he should have had his racist azz expelled not disciplined or sanctioned. This has started a terrible precedent and will only get worse. I am glad they did something though. I hope it sends a message to the others in the loser party that they need to tow the line because we’re in charge.

  • PenniePan says:

By the way I would like to tell the people of South Carolina that they are officially an embarassment to the United States for elected this idiot racist.

  • Jenevieve says:

I think this was a necessary move because Barack Obama is being disrespected as a president in ways we’ve never seen before. It needs to stop before there is no stopping it. He is our most vulnerable president in regards to personal safety so we need to be careful.

  • BillinTX says:

I agree with the resolution. Now lets let them get back to talking about healthcare reform. Remember that this isn’t about the people but the institution. You stand when the judge comes to the courtroom, even if you think he’s a corrupt hack, out of respect for the court as an institution and the rule of law.

This is no different. The House could not function if 435 members could say whatever they want without regard to the rules. The Presidency is an institution too. You can’t just scream out like this in disrespect.

Now Joe Wilson is a national figure with a huge campaign re-election fund. I say a slap on the hand is a nice exchange.

  • BikerDan says:

I guess Nancy Pelosi and her flying monkeys felt they had to do something for her leftists back home to get that warm cozy feeling. But this is nothing more then a slap on the hand. It’s the least of 4 sanctions possible that they can give. The worst is expulsion, then censure, then reprimand, and finally this one, an expression of disapproval. Joe Wilson is definately the winner.

  • kate says:

Hey Pennie, I’m sure the people of South Carolina wear your comment like a badge of honor.

  • gene says:

all the racist wilson had to do was apologize and there’d be no resolution.

  • micky says:

Racist, racist, racist, bla bla bla…
Thats all a matter of opinion, the fact is the presidents a liar whether any of you like it or not, he lied to you moonbats and he lied to the whole country.
    Hes a liar

  • Marsha says:

Pennie, Paul, Scarlett and Gene. You sound silly.

“The House general code of conduct requires that ‘a lawmaker shall conduct himself at all times in a manner which shall reflect creditably on the House of Representatives.'” http://usgovinfo.about.com/blhousecode.htm

If this is a requirement then almost all of the members should be reprimanded, all of them to me seem to be acting reprehensibly. HAHA!

Kate I had something clever to say about the Zombie video but the comments are off…. whaaaa.

  • micky says:

    ” because we’re in charge.”

thinks so ? Did you really mean for all this to happen ? Or do you know the difference between “in charge” and “in control” ?
Cuz you guys is certainly not in control

  • micky says:

    He did apologize Gene

    sheesh

  • gene says:

nope. the requirement was the leadership wanted an apology from the floor. but his arrogance and his pride got the best of him.

he said “you lie” in front of millions, but he wants his apology over the phone in private to be enough. wrong.

  • gene says:

the repubics want this racism to go just away and get about the people’s bidness but they didn’t think that when it was about a blow job now did they?

  • Jane says:

Gene yes. It seems that Wilson is now a folk hero to the Teabaggers who admire him because he stood up to an uppity president. Bravo!

  • Barbie says:

I’d like to know who the 5 were that voted “present”… the weasel voters. Anyone?

  • kate says:

barbie the 5 ‘present’ voters were all democrats:

    eliot engel (ny)
    bill foster (ill)
    barney fwank (mass)
    carol shea-porter (nh)
    ike skelton (mo)

    figures. 🙂

  • micky says:

    Gene, you’re wrong,and cheap.
Obama lied way more than Clinton in only 8 short months compared to Bills 8 years
Please get back to business and pass this POS bill, please do, please

  • Boz says:

Well damn! Here’s a good teachable moment for all you schoolchildren. When you act like a frikin, disrespectful azzhole towards the highest position in the country just turn yourself into a martyr! Then you get campaign funds, you get votes from the local idiots, and you get all the young pssy working for you as staffers. Hope all you RepubliKKKans are happy with his slap on the wrist.

  • micky says:

Gene, Obama accepted it. What ? Obama saying its cool isnt good enough now ?

  • Lola says:

Would it have killed him to offer an apology to the House? By not doing so he is keeping the pot stirred and the business of HCR is on the bakc burner.

  • Ken says:

Oh such outrage!!!! How dare Wilson tell the truth!!!

I love this whole thing. Remember how this worked out when you went after Rush, dems? You people really aren’t too smart are you? People are seeing you for the distracting, petty, immature, ignorant, and hypocritical liars that you are.

Please keep it up!!! This is making it so much easier! Thank you!!!

  • Ken says:

“By not doing so he is keeping the pot stirred and the business of HCR is on the bakc burner.”

No, Lola, the dems are doing that, not Wilson.

  • Ginny's_Mom says:

What’s with Dana Rohrabacher voting for this crapola? That shocks me.

  • Ginny's_Mom says:

“Obama lied way more than Clinton”

Wow. I really disagree with that. Clinton’s whole presidency was lies and deception, eight years worth.

  • micky says:

As I said Gs mom, its only been 8 months and Obama hasnt let up on the lies yet

  • Rope says:

I would like just one of you penni, scarlett, jane or gene to show just one instance where Joe Wilson has shown in any way he’s a racist. The president accepted his apology, Nancy Pelsoi said its enough let’s move on. Please explain to me how saying “you lie” makes one a racist. Oh and you’re gonna need to explain it to the one too, because he himself sees nothing racist about Joe Wilson. I just ask for one instance, something in his life that shows he’s racist. Come on maybe all of you can get together and come up with one.

  • Ken says:

That’s ok, Rope, it’s gonna backfire on them. They think that accusing everyone of being racist will silence them. Such pure ignorance won’t last long.

  • micky says:

“I am not going to apologize again. I apologized to the president on Wednesday night. I was advised then that, ‘Thank you, now let’s get on to a civil discussion of the issues,'” Wilson said. “I’ve apologized one time. The apology was accepted by the president, by the vice president, who I know. I am not apologizing again.”

    ‘See this matter end’
In an interview taped Friday and broadcast Sunday evening, Obama said he accepted and appreciated Wilson’s apology, which was delivered through White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel. Obama said he preferred to move past the incident and focus on the broad health care overhaul that took him to the Capitol in the first place. ”

So, Obama is happy with the apology and wants to move on yet everyone thinks Wilson should apologize to everyone else ? Did he also call all of them liars ?
    ===========================
I’m not even going to bother answering to the racist sh*t anymore. It’s utterly asinine and ridiculous coming from people who cant stop bragging about “the first black president” !

  • PenniePan says:

Micky actually you said “Obama lied way more than Clinton in only 8 short months compared to Bills 8 years”

When Ginny’s Mom disagreed with you saying Clinton lied way more, you changed what you said to this “its only been 8 months and Obama hasnt let up on the lies yet”.

So you lie, change your story, refute yourself even to fellow conservatives when the proof is in your words right here for all to see. Like the robots they are, Rope and Ken will defend your words. It just makes them look like robots. You are the biggest blowhard I have ever seen. I thought Clinton was a blowhard but you beat him. Sad.

  • Ken says:

“Like the robots they are, Rope and Ken will defend your words.”

Micky doesn’t need me, or anybody else, to defend his words Pennie.

    He’s an adult, unlike you.

“It just makes them look like robots.”

Gosh, that sounds familiar, Pennie! Almost like something the Obama supporters have been called from day one. I have never seen anyone so purely incapable of independent thought in my life.

  • micky says:

Pennie, thats pretty lame. Give it up in your hunt to destroy me, you’re too dumb.
The point is this but you havent figured it out yet. What I’m trying to say without sounding like your kindergarten teacher is that if Obama has lied this much in 8 months and he does 8 years he’ll of outdone Clinton.
Now go clean your braces orsomething

  • micky says:

This is classic, now Carter, the btraitor worst president by popular concensusand most polls has said its because of race. I guess you know you’re on the loosing end when you’ve got Carter coming to the front

  • micky says:

I’m gonna take a leap here at the risk of assuming too much, but here goes. I’m going to assme that Pennie, Gene, Gypsy, Jared and the others are not kept here for their stellar abilities to be able to discuss any issue with some level of cognition or understanding but more because they are tools. Examples of the idiocy that put this A hole in chief in place, examples of what happens to a section of our country when it spends 8 years consumed in hatred to the point they missed everything that gives anyone any clue why they should be glad they live in this country.
You guys forgot what it wasall about and let whatever conscience you had left morp into a high school battle of the teams mentallity.
Well, you guys will never graduate at the rate you’re going, you’re gonna stay stuck in your game driven by childish hate untill you’ve destroyed the whole campus killing all hope for future classes.
So the alumni, the adults havebeen forced to get up from the homes weworked so hard to build and come on down and spank you guys out of it.
Your cries of racism, your last desperate act of defiance makes you look just as that, desperate. We are spanking you guys, the country(the real country) is taking it all back.
Your congress will be out soon, your president no doubt at this point will never see a second term…
    Care of Rasmussen

Obamas numbers have been going down for months now
    57% dont like Pelosi
    Reid is trailing republicans
Only 33% think the country is headed in the right direction
GOP leads 47% to 39% on economic issues this month, up from a six-point lead in August. This is the biggest lead Republicans have held on the issue in nearly three years.
Recent polling finds that two-out-of-three American voters (67%) lack confidence that Congress knows what it’s doing when it comes to the economy.

Sixty percent (60%) of likely voters now say tax increases hurt the economy, up six points from last month. A Rasmussen Reports video report released earlier today shows that 47% of voters believe their own personal taxes will increase under the Obama administration, the highest level found since he was elected.

When it comes to the issues of government ethics and corruption, voters now trust Republicans slightly more, 35% to 34%. In August, Democrats held a three-point lead on the issue.

Sixty percent (60%) of voters nationwide believe that Obama is at least as ethical as most politicians, down from 74% when he took office in January.
    ———————————————————

    and it just keeps going
    I love it

WTH? Hilariously embarrassing for you and you don’t even know it. You sound like that old time comic who always used words slightly wrong, mispronouncing them as his gig for a laugh. If your going to try to play a shrink on a blog, you might want to know what you’re talking about first.

  • micky says:

Sorry Paul, the only reason I left you out of the mix is because you actually make an attempt once in a while.
Buit your assertion that I’m some kind of shrink goes to the cognition part.

Id gladly confront you on the specifics but since you only generalize in your critique of me I guess you can jump in with Pennie and the gang for now

  • Rope says:

Just checking back to see if any of the ones calling Wilson a racist has come up with one instance of racism in his background. I guess you need a little more time.

lol Penni I pretty sure mick can take care of himself, but nice try.

  • micky says:

Yeah but Rope, I’ll bet the calculator breaks if you add up all the times weve heard what a great move for diversity it was for us to be able to show the whole world that we can elect a black president.
Remember all that leading up to the election, and still ?
“If for any reason we can be glad that weve elected the first black American president, halleluja !”
Id say off the top of my head that at least 20% voted for the man just because of his color so they could all be so proud of themselves and wear their badge of anti racism on their sleeves by making the racist statement of the century.
And lets not forget one very important “FACT”
Obama did receve 97% of the black vote.

    Now whos racist ?

  • David says:

    Hey, Scarlett – (singing) la, la, la…. I’m a racist, you’re a racists, we’re all just l’il ol’ racists… la, la, la…

…race, race, race…. la, la, la…. … I don’t like anyone who doesn’t look EXACTLY like me… la, la, la.

…. I go through life ‘HATING’ every single person who looks even a teeny tiny itty bitty bit different from me…. la, la, la, la, laaaaaaaa.

HOW’S THAT FOR YA? DOES THIS SATISFY YOUR WIDDLE NEED TO BELIEVE THAT EVERYONE WHO DOESN’T AGREE WITH YOU IS A RACIST? HMMMMM???

Sheesh. Why don’t you Libs get a life…?

  • James says:

Well it’s interesting that Wilson refused to apologize on the floor but understandable. When you’re a member of “The Party of No” it means never having to say you’re sorry for anything, even embarassing the president in front of the world.

  • Iggy says:

I thought it was a waste of time doing this to Joe Wilson. I cannot believe the House put Joe Wilson as a priority over millions of Americans that need health insurance. I have had heard worse in my lifetime. I do not care what Joe Wilson said to the president doing his speech. The point is that I have to go one more day without health insurance because the House chose to punish this ignorant pig over helping the American people.

  • Rope says:

Iggy, please tell me you don’t believe the obamacare bill is going to be signed one day and poof you will have health coverage the next. Plus it was the democrats that kept Wilson in the spotlight and kept your precious bill from being center stage. So now who’s the ignorant pigs.

  • Iggy says:

Rope that is a good point but at least knowing I will have healthcare someday soon would be encouraging to me, a person who has lacked good healthcare all my life. Maybe you should read my post again. I am not a fan of democrats either. It is Joe Wilson is the ignorant pig.

  • Jane says:

Gentlemen we have a name for that here: GOP=Grand Obstructionist Party.

  • Ken says:

Yes, Jane, not wanting to piss away trillions of dollars on a system that wont work and that we have no plan to pay for is obstructionist.

What color is the sky in your world?

  • micky says:

James, briiliant, usally the minority is the party of no, ya know ?
    ———————————
Iggy, I’ll bet you really want them to fix that private sector so you could afford your own, right ? How is calling a liar a liar ignorant ?
    ———————————
whooo, these guys are on a roll, the “grand obstructionist party” and ” the party of no” . I’ll bet advertising firms everywhere have flooded your mail boxes

  • Amy says:

I am glad the Dems followed through with this–now if they could just show similar resolve in passing a strong health care bill!!

  • So the Dems who boo’d former President George W. Bush – what ever happened to them? Did Republicans publicly reprimand them? Did they ever bother to apologize to the President, even in private?

    No.

  • David says:

James, were you asleep? Mr. Wilson DID apologize – to the President! Sheesh.

  • Rope says:

It’s been 3 days and no one has come forth with one instance of racism in Joe Wilson’s background. I rest my case. Racist my arse. Even the one concurs.

  • micky says:

Yeah, even Obama is telling everyone to knock off the race crap and he doesnt think this fox hunt is necessary. It was him called a liar, it was him apologized to.
I personally wouldnt of apologized but rather would of reiterated the point more forcefully. But I guss Wilson needs to keep serving his constituants so, oh well.

  • Ken says:

    “Even the one concurs.”

Not only that, but our resident neo-socialist trolls are in the minority throughtout the entire country.

    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/healthcare/september_2009/12_say_most_opponents_of_obama_health_care_plan_are_racist

“Twelve percent (12%) of voters nationwide believe that most opponents of President Obama’s health care reform plan are racist. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 67% of voters disagree, and 21% are not sure.”

How sad for you. Keep it up though, you’re doing wonders for the Republican Party!
