yes, but, there’s still a war on terror

i am really glad that obama ended the war on terror aren’t you? it’s awesome to see that the ‘overseas contingency operation’ is alive and well and having success at breaking up terrorist cells and catching bad guys who would hurt us or our interests. check this out:

the wall street journal reports that a task force of law enforcement officers took down a suspected cell of terrorists in new york city this weekend — just a couple of days after 9/11:

Authorities executed search warrants and seized evidence early Monday at locations in the Queens borough of New York City as part of a terrorism investigation, according to a senior official familiar with the case.

This person said some counterterrorism officials were concerned that the individual at the center of the investigation may have had access to, or an interest in acquiring, materials that could be used for a chemical, biological or radiological device. One aspect of the probe involves whether the person had some contact or connections with suspicious individuals overseas, the official said.

this particular raid suggests links to a Denver-based terror cell plotting another attack on the scale of 9/11!

in a separate report, fox news says that a SEAL force conducted a raid in somalia to take down a terrorist leader wanted by the fbi:

Navy Seals from US Special Operations Forces conducted a raid in southern Somalia on Monday that killed Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan, one of 4 co-conspirators wanted in the 2002 bombing of an Israel owned hotel in Mombasa, Kenya, two senior U.S. military officials told Fox News.

Ten days ago President Obama signed the Execute Order for Nabhan, who since 2006 was on the FBI’s list of most wanted terrorists. He was also wanted for the attacks on the U.S. Embassy in Kenya in 1998.

so, whatever The One chooses to call ‘IT’ in order to appease a fanatical base is fine as long as we keep the country safe. and whether the nutroots like it or not, that’s a war on terror that i can support and actions i can get behind. it is much more then one man anyway.

of course i am fully aware that if president bush were still in office, the nutroots would be eviscerating him over these actions and telling him to pay more attention to his failing domestic policies.

I don’t care what he calls it, I’m just glad to see its getting done.

I imagine that President Obama will wind up getting Bin Laden something Shrub could never do for all his ridiculous cowboy bravado.

  • Paul says:

Shrub was too consumed with vengeance. It clouded his objectivity and disrupted an effective search for bin Laden. It also resulted in Abu Graib and Gitmo. We need a level headed, clear thinking, smart Commander in Chief and that’s clearly Barack Obama.

  • micky says:

    Right Pennie.
As Afghanistan is worse than its ever been, Obama doesnt want more troops in there and hes paying all his attention to your stinkin healthcare.
Besides, he kept almost all of the Bush policies he said during the election that were o so evil. So if he does catch him, it’ll be because Bush laid the proper ground work, andhe knows it

  • A_Reluctant_Pundit says:

Micky wrong. It is most likely that President Obama will follow Gen. McChrystal’s lead should he request for more boots on the ground and do a surge quickly instead of what Bush did, waiting and waiting, while soldiers and civilians died.

  • BikerDan says:

Obama kept most of Bush war plans in place. He knows that he is not perceived as having balls of steel.

  • micky says:

    Pundit.
How can I be wrong when all you offer is a “most likely” ? wise up.
Obamas awfully slow at ther switch here. if I remember correctly it was Bush who was famous for ground surges, Obama will follow that lead, Bushs lead. Obama, not so much, all hes done is reduce troops and his European buddies told em to get screwed when he asked for more.
Oh, and the transfers from Iraq dont count, thats already part of the count.

“How can I be wrong when all you offer is a “most likely” ? wise up.”

In their world Micky they use “most likely” scenarios as evidence. Amazing isn’t it?

I guess we will see if he is going to follow Bush’s lead in Afghanistan, because last time I heard the dems were all saying no new troops for Afghanistan.

This idiot should not only be reprimanded by the full House, he should be suspended as any employ would be for misconduct. The fact that his popularity was enhanced by this episode only reinforces the ignorance of his constituants and the state of SC itself.

  • kate says:

hi sonny — missed a lot of those civics classes in school i imagine.

joe wilson doesn’t work for nancy ‘liar’ pelosi or the rest of the clowns in leadership in the congress who pulled this little stunt today. he works for the people in his district in the great state of south carolina that elected him. if they think a reprimand was not enough, they can take steps to remove him. they aren’t likely to do that sonny. byeeee

  • kate says:

and sonny… i hate to be rude. but this comment was for the other thread wasn’t it? put the bong down for a while. k?

  • Sonny says:

oops. Can you move it over?

  • Sam says:

I have a lot more confidence in President Obama’s ability to excute the War on Terror. President Bush was not stable or steady. He was way to reactionary and caused more problems then solved them. President Obama has already proven in 8 months that he has a keen head on his shoulders and is willing to play chess with mice until the right time to pounce.

  • Ken says:

“President Obama has already proven in 8 months that he has a keen head on his shoulders and is willing to play chess with mice until the right time to pounce.”

Any your evidence of this is what? Please provide specifics.

  • micky says:

    Sam, you cant be serious.
In Bushs first 8 months of either war he accomplished way more than Obama has in his first 8, by miles !
If Obama does have any successes in either war it will more than likely be because he follows Bushs policies, adopts them, as he already has most of them. Hes not a leader when it comes to military matters, he can only lead in commmunities where the leadership is a tattered mess. The military and its astounding leaders leave him no room or opportunity to weasel his nose in and act like hes in charge.

“Its all already handled Mr. President. Sit down, shut up, go back to your projects and let the adults go to work”
