Will Trump block Comey from testifying about Flynn and Russia? [video]

Short answer: No.

Former FBI Director, James Comey, is set to testify before Congress next week about whether President Trump pressured him to drop an investigation surrounding Mike Flynn’s ties to Russia. It is now being reported that Trump may try to block Comey from testifying by asserting executive privilege. Executive privilege allows the president to keep conversations with his advisors private.

The way this has been reported leads us to believe that Trump is actively seeking a way to keep Comey from testifying, but there is no proof that this question has emerged because of Trump’s actions. This is quite possibly another case of reporters thinking of ways to trap Trump into looking bad – along the lines of the familiar questioning: “So, when did you stop beating your wife?” This teaches us not to accept the premise that Trump is actually trying to assert executive privilege – simply wait for more facts to emerge before we judge whether Trump wants something to be hidden or not.

This just proves that these people have not learned anything yet about how Trump operates. He is not a man that thinks he needs to hide anything! When people operate on a straightforward level as he does, there is none of this double dealing or need to cover tracks. This of course is shocking to the political establishment because they know of no other way to operate – in their world ulterior motive is a given. They are still playing by their rules, but they don’t realize the game has changed. Bigly.

So while the White House has not given a definite answer on the question yet, I predict James Comey will testify as scheduled, but if he doesn’t, the reason will not be because executive privilege was asserted. Somebody else may be trying to hide something, but it won’t be Trump.

Trump would not be able to assert privilege for those things that he has already disclosed publicly. But whatever that might be, it’s not much. Check Twitter for all the evidence that’s available and it will be lacking much substance (isn’t that the problem that liberals have with his tweets anyway?). As to the actual legal grounds for claiming coercion or obstruction, Trump has tweeted about these conversations he had with Comey and what Comey has revealed so far falls short of any wrongdoing on Trump’s part. Trump said something to the effect, “Flynn is a good guy and I hope you can see a way to let this go.” If that’s coercion or obstruction, then a president may never give his opinion on anything. The liberals keep building up their hopes but they’ll have to do a lot better than that. I hope they fail.
