Texas Longhorns Embrace The Hate

Texas Longhorns embrace the hate from everyone. This is the last football season that the Longhorns will be in the Big 12. They will go into the best conference ever, the South Eastern Conference (SEC), in July 2024.

When not posing as social justice warriors, ESPN covers college football and holds one of the biggest and most lucrative contracts with the SEC. So why wouldn’t you want to go to the SEC? It’s all about the Benjamins, baby. Show me the money!

Okay, now the groundwork is laid. Moving to the SEC is not the only reason Texas Longhorns are getting shade thrown their way. Apparently, the University of Texas at Austin is hated by many people.

Snippets and quotes from Fox News:

“We can sit there and be a punching bag, or we can go attack the people that we’re going to play. And I think that they’ve assumed that responsibility to say, ‘Hey, we’re gonna go after everybody else too.’ I think that that’s the right mentality to have.” – Steve Sarkisian, Head Coach, University of Texas at Austin

“We’re the University of Texas. Nobody likes us. That’s OK. We embrace the hate.” -Steve Sarkisian

And now there is a new reason to hate the Longhorns.

A tee shirt. In a speech last year, head coach Steve Sarkisian said something similar ahead of their game against Texas Tech. So, this isn’t anything new.

The head coach is still using that to inspire his players for his last season in the Big 12, and he’s not apologetic about it either. Good for him. It’s not the first time the head coach has faced controversy and stood tall when facing the mob.

Texas Athletic Director Chris Del Conte is not backing down from it either.

“We know we have to embrace the hate this year,” Del Conte said. “Everyone in the Big 12 is mad at us because they think we broke up the Big 12, they think we broke up the Pac-12, because we left. We left for what’s right for the University of Texas and that is my job. That’s our job as leadership to protect the brand and put ourselves in the best position to be successful. So we have the T-shirts that we gave our staff and kids (that say) ‘Embrace the Hate.’ That’s our mantra this year.” Heartland College Sports

But, the words “Embrace The Hate” on a tee shirt will be sold on the university coop website. It’s hateful and represents white supremacy, wails the little delicates. <eye roll>

Among the many hyper-sensitive trolls online who get offended by the sun shining, the school’s chapter of the American Association of University Professors also responded.

“Exactly who at @utaustin authorized this literally hateful use of the Longhorn brand? Asking for all faculty working to instill a positive learning community in our classes and on campus. Surely there are better ways to show UT pride,” the group wrote on X. – Fox News

Other outbursts

And more ridiculousness from a few other dainty discontented.

“I am guessing this is sports-related, but to anyone not in on that, it appears to be a white supremacist message,” one person responded on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Now, what in the no-Black-people-work-here hell is this? Come on UT. You’re the flagship university of Texas. Let’s do better.”

“Not good, y’all. As a triple UT alum, I am not proud of this,” another person wrote. – Fox News

You know what, I think I’ll make Embrace the Hate my mantra, too, Mr. Del Conte. I like it. We need it. I wonder if we can ask some of these coaches and athletic directors who refuse to bow down to the offended to run for office. Or better yet, start a side hustle to teach conservatives how to embrace the hate, stand up, and fight back.

Embrace the Hate is white supremacy, my goodness gracious. Next, they’ll tell us that cheering for an SEC team is racist or that college football, in general, is racist. Shut up!

And allow me to be the first to welcome you to the SEC. I think you’ll like it here amongst the champions. I like your grit and determination. You’ll fit right in here. And while I am a Georgia fan by marriage, you’ll have a soft spot in my heart.

A prime example of “wokeness”, i.e. the ability to fond racism, sexism, ableism (or a set of -isms to be determined later) in absolutely everything.

Sorry to be That Guy but can someone explain why so much hate is getting directed towards them?
