The Bureau of Prisons Built a Men’s Unit Inside a Women’s Prison and the Men Still Aren’t Happy

They actually did it. Federal Medical Center Carswell, a women’s prison in Fort Worth, Texas, now has a separate unit for male inmates who identify as women. The courts couldn’t agree on what to do with them. D.C. District Judge Royce Lamberth, a Reagan appointee, blocked their transfer out of women’s facilities. Another judge ordered them kept away from the female population. So the Bureau of Prisons carved out a men’s wing inside the women’s prison and started moving more of them there.
