Dirty Harry – Media Ignores Reid’s Misuse Of Campaign Funds

Dirty Harry is up to his dirty tricks  and the MSM is silent.. again! When will this story get some attention? Granted, I live in the State of Nevada and this story was first reported by a local reporter on his website, I am puzzled that it hasn’t gained steam on a national level.  In case you missed it, here is what happened.

The FEC sent the treasurer of Friends For Harry Reid, a letter, asking for clarification and a description for “holiday gifts” that was listed on his year end report. It seems that two separate disbursements were paid to a Ryan Elisabeth of Berkley, California. One of the disbursements was for the amount of $5,416.93 and the other was for $11,370. These were listed on the report as “holiday gifts.” Well it turns out that Ryan Elisabeth is actually Ryan Elisabeth Reid, the daughter of Rory Reid who is the son of guess who?  Rory Reid is the son of Senator Harry Reid. So Harry paid his grand daughter almost $17,000 out of his campaign funds for the purpose of holiday gifts, and no one says a word. Can you imagine how the media would have reacted had this been Senator Cruz instead of Senator Reid? This story would be running 24/7 all over the major networks with tar and feathers flying in the background and angry Rachel Maddow screaming off with his head!! All the Democrats up for reelection would be demanding investigations and he would be tried and fried within the first 24 hours of the story breaking.  Their heads would be popping so loud, I could hear them popping from my house. But it isn’t Senator Cruz, it is Senator Reid and for some reason, this story must not be news-worthy to the MSM.

Senator Reid’s campaign has until April 25th in order to comply with the FEC’s letter. However, Reid has announced that he will be paying the campaign back. He will reimburse the campaign the full amount that was paid to his grand daughter.

“I thought it would be nice to give supporters and staff thank-you gifts that had a personal connection and a Searchlight connection,” Reid said in a prepared statement. “But I have decided to reimburse the campaign for the amount of the expenditure.”

Ryan Reid had her own line of jewelry that was titled Ryan Elisabeth and was sold online from her website. Apparently, the website has since been removed. Reid’s campaign alleges that they have complied with the FEC rules making the claim that Ryan Elisabeth is a vendor and does not fall into the illegal category of giving gifts to family members. However, they received the letter last week and this week, Dirty Harry is writing a check to pay the campaign back. Maybe he is hoping that this will go away? The campaign will still have to respond to the letter, clarifying the description of holiday gifts. It is not known yet whether Harry’s actions or the clarification of the gifts will satisfy the FEC. If they fail to satisfy them by the 25th, then they will be subject to “audit or enforcement action.”

Regardless of the outcome, it is mind-boggling that this story has not gained traction from the unbiased, biased media. In fact, if you go to Rachel Maddow’s Facebook page, you will see that yesterday she posted a story on Rep Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash) regarding ethics questions, on the 25th she posted about Nebraska Republican candidate Shane Osborn and a fake Navy memo and today she posted on the results of the Christie investigation, but NOWHERE will you find the Reid story posted anywhere on her page. Also, if you do a quick Google search, you will be hard pressed to find anything on this except for a few Conservative sites. Although I was able to pull up a POLITICO article that I used as one of my sources in this blog. We could only hope that the same investigators that went after Governor Christie could be assigned to this one. They were able to get some answers within weeks. In fact, if they could head on over to the Benghazi, IRS, Fast & Furious and NSA investigations, that would be nice too.
