The asinine kneeling protests continue. On Friday night, an entire high school football team AND coaches took a knee while our National Anthem played.

That’s all great and wonderful for the Garfield HS football team, but will this really make a difference? According to their coach, Joey Thomas, its ALL about oppression combined with focusing on issues and finding solutions. Once that happens, no one will have to kneel.

“You have to talk with kids about the social injustices that are going on because they’re dealing with it regardless,” Thomas added. “Let’s just talk about it. How are you killing these African American males on camera and we can’t even get a day in court…are you kidding me? When is enough, enough? But if you look at history, nothing changes in history until you’re willing to sacrifice.”

Willing to sacrifice? RIGHT. But first, lets revisit the history or our National Anthem. On that day and night so very long ago, Americans were defending a young country against Britain who was, quite frankly, pissed off that they lost a prime colony and wanted it back. They were attacking homes, towns, ships, and kidnapping Americans into slavery on board their own ships. Hence the supposedly problematic 3rd stanza of the Anthem.

So WHOSE agenda are the players at Garfield HS following? Do they REALLY understand that kneeling without action accomplishes nothing? What adversity and sacrifice have they overcome by kneeling while the Anthem is played? Not. One. Damn. Thing. Guess who sacrificed, overcame adversity and in doing so accomplished so much? Yes, that’s correct. A guy named Martin Luther King Jr.
