Did ISIS Smuggle A Dirty Bomb Into Europe?

Usually when a loud-mouthed jihadist insists he’s smuggled anything of consequence into a Western country, we take the claim with a heavy dose of doubt. But ISIS is unlike any other terrorist group the world has ever known. They are a well-funded, heavily armed, and highly trained army with a laser focus on worldwide dominance in the vein of Hitler’s Germany. And when they say they’ve smuggled a “radioactive device” into a European country, we’d best take them at their word.

The news follows the recent claim posted on Twitter by alleged weapons maker, Muslim al-Britani, that ISIS had obtained a “dirty bomb.” The group claims to have gotten hold of uranium after a recent raid on Mosul University.

“O by the way Islamic State does have a Dirty bomb. We found Radioactive [sic] material from Mosul University.”

Muslim-Al-Britani’s Twitter account is now suspended—big shocker—but a screen shot grabbed by the SITE Intelligence Group, a for-profit Bethesda-based company that tracks the online activity of white supremacist and jihadi organizations, yields this chilling message:

ISIS Twitter Dirty Bomb

Could it simply be propaganda intended to frighten Europeans? Sure. But even if that’s all it is, it will have achieved its goal: To terrorize. Should we therefore ignore it? Absolutely not. Better safe than sorry, because a reactive stance, which is typically the modus operandi of the Obama Administration, is always fraught with dire consequences.
