While Mooch Michelle Obama continues her taxpayer-funded extended Hawaiian holiday celebrating her Big 5-0, the One is back, his tired, divisive, rhetoric-filled baggage in tow.
Get ready, folks. As the 2014 midterms approach, and the albatross of ObamaCratTaxCare hanging around his neck like a mildewed Hawaiian lei, Captain ShamWow, failing in his quest to hock wealth redistribution masquerading as healthcare, is looking to reclaim his lost mojo by regurgitating his 2012 re-election message of “income inequality.” With Rolling Stone magazine willingly assisting in marketing the haggard message of entitlement for him—how coincidental!—he’ll soon be taking his Tax the Rich Tour 2014 show on the road. But what King Barry would like us all to ignore is that the divide between the rich and the poor in this country has reportedly grown wider on his watch, while the middle class continues contracting, its paychecks shrinking and, with price increases and regulations on just about everything, is struggling to hang on. And this is without the new taxes, regs, and massive healthcare cost increases about to hit us square in the pocketbook in 2014 alone.
Just a few of the pesky stats:
Unemployment by group as of December, 2013 (down slightly, which appears a shred of good news, though some have accused this administration of fudging numbers to shine a positive light on unemployment rates stuck at high levels during its entire reign):
- Men: 6.7 Percent (previous: 7.0 percent)
- Women: 6.2 percent (previous: 6.4 percent)
- Teenagers: 20.8 percent (previous: 22.2 percent)
- Whites: 6.2 percent (previous: 6.3 percent)
- Blacks: 12.5 percent (previous: 13.1 percent)
- Hispanics: 8.7 percent (previous: 9.1 percent)
- Asians (not seasonally adjusted): 5.3 percent (previous: 5.2 percent)
- The labor force participation rate increased slightly to 63.0 percent, up from its previous 62.8 percent. This economic indicator has not been this bad since March 1978.
- The rate of unemployment among families earning less than $20,000 has topped 21 percent, nearly matching the rate for all workers during the 1930s Great Depression.
- Research by University of California economist Emmanuel Saez reveals that since the Obama recovery started in June 2009, the average income of the top 1% increased 11.2% in real terms through 2011. The bottom 99%, in contrast, saw their incomes decrease by 0.4%. (Other research shows that “since the economic recovery started in June 2009, household incomes are down 5.7%, the Sentier data show, and they are down more than 8% since Obama took office.”)
- Saez finds that “as a result, 121% of the gains in real income during Obama’s recovery have gone to the top 1%. By comparison, the top 1% captured 65% of income gains during the Bush expansion of 2002-07, and 45% of the gains under Clinton’s expansion in the 1990s.” You can find more of Saez’s research here.
- 47 million-plus Americans are on food stamps, and rising.
- Disability recipients have ballooned. In 1968: 51 workers for every person on disability. Today: 13 workers for every person on disability.
- 4.7 million Americans have received notices that their current healthcare plans will be cancelled. That number will inflate exponentially as employees will begin losing their employer-sponsored plans as well as a direct result of the ACA.
I could go on. But the stats don’t get any better.
The beauty of the America I grew up in was the promise that anyone—anyone—could rise above, or capitalize upon, our birth circumstances to become anything our hearts could imagine. The ugliness of progressivism is keeping far too many of us right were we are, and pushing even more into poverty. The path to wild success these days is paved, unintended or otherwise, with repressive taxation, excessive regulation, and executive decrees.
Barack Obama has proven himself willing and able to do whatever it takes to keep his party in power. So when Mr. Zero claims he yearns to equalize income in this country, that he’s fighting for the middle class, it’s nothing but cheap, desperate pandering because his party’s control of the upper chamber is in peril. And, by the way, what I hear Obama saying is (1) guaranteed equal incomes for all, aka equalized poverty, (2) further deteriorating job opportunities while addicting more of us to the Nanny State, and (3) spreading the misery around. All the while, as some estimates report, significantly increasing his own wealth during his presidency. Mr. Obama is an unabashed crony-capitalist, and a raging hypocrite. While he sees himself and his cohorts as entitled to their “earned” fortunes, he sanctimoniously vilifies the rich, a crowd to which he belongs, and punishes those of us who work our tails off trying to accomplish the same. The smart money is on resoundingly rejecting the divisive Class Warfare twaddle dripping from his lips. Because, by now, we should all be able to tell when Barack Obama is lying.
Over the weekend, I was listening to political pundits discussing the colossal steaming pile of Donkey dung that is ObamaCare—that has now cost upwards of two million…
