Obama Hosts Democrat-Only Dinner Ahead of Speech

According to Democrats, including President Obama, the results of the midterm election means that people want to see bipartisanship in Congress.

Apparently, that “bipartisanship” doesn’t stretch as far as actually inviting Republicans for dinner at the White House tonight.

When asked why Obama wouldn’t break bread with GOP leaders, Earnest replied, “We’ve had any number of countless conversations with Republicans.”

“If it were only dinner that was required,” he added when pressed on whether Obama was preventing compromise with Republicans.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., Sens. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Robert Menendez, D-N.J., are among those who will dine at the White House.

It has been announced that the president will be giving a primetime speech tomorrow night to announce his plans for “executive action” in regards to immigration.

At least some of the estimated 5 million illegal immigrants who would be spared from deportation are also expected to be made eligible for work permits. But the eligible immigrants would not be entitled to federal benefits — including health care tax credits — under the plan, administration officials said Wednesday.

The president in 2012 used executive action to delay deportation for some of the millions of young people brought the U.S. illegally by their parents.

It looks like the 18 Democrats who will be eating dinner at the White House tonight will be receiving their freshly-printed talking points in person. Bribing lawmakers to allow the president to sidestep the Constitution always goes down better with Wagyu steak and a good Cabernet.

The Republicans are preparing for a fight in the courts, and Speaker John Boehner has hired law professor and known liberal Jonathan Turley to present the challenge. Despite being a liberal, Professor Turley is deeply concerned about the unconstitutional expansion of executive power.

We will be watching the president’s speech and the Republicans’ response tomorrow night.
