Martha’s Vineyard Locals are Bored with Obamas

President Obama and his family are enjoying their sixth late-summer vacation at Martha’s Vineyard, and the locals are largely responding with . . . meh.

No more ice cream confections such as “Barack My World,” or “Magnificent Malia Milkshake” and “Sashalicious Smoothie,” in honor of the Obama daughters. While there are still those who take pictures of the Presidential motorcade (over twelve vehicles in all) as they head out to Farm Neck Golf Club, the crowds are smaller, and the gawkers are fewer.

Obama himself seems less interested in connecting with the 100,000-plus people who crowd the island during the summer months, preferring to remain with the First Family at their rented vacation home, a seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom, $22.5 million sanctuary. Of course the President did manage to rub elbows with celebrities and athletes while playing golf. Michelle Obama once went to lunch at a downtown restaurant, and didn’t even bother to wave at the people on the street.

Oh, but the First Family did take a bike ride for the cameras one day, and no one looked like they were having fun, except for the President.

The British Daily Mail noticed that Malia Obama certainly looked unimpressed. Perhaps it’s because at seventeen Malia has entered the sullen teenager phase. Or perhaps she was happier earlier in the summer when she was interning on Lena Dunham’s HBO series, “Girls,” in New York City, and hanging out with friends in Soho.

Or maybe she’s just tiring of that whole Presidential kid routine, and she’s eager to bust out and do something on her own.

Guess what? We’re tired of the Obamas, too. And we’re looking forward to the day when Obama’s presidential term comes to an end.
