Sunday Morning Cafe Cocktails

Mimosa, Bloody Mary, nice flute of champagne — or maybe a favorite tipple in your coffee. Make yourself one and join me at our own Algonquin Round Table, the spirit of Dorothy Parker abides.

It is not just Sunday, but Father’s Day! Let me do the pouring and let’s all lift our glasses in honor of all the Dads, Grandpas, Uncles and Sons who have embraced the full measure of their masculinity and are doing (or have done) their best work in the field of Fatherhood. I lost my own dad six-years ago, but not a day goes by where I don’t see or hear something I’d love to share with him.

Whether here or forward deployed to a secret destination, to all our dads, CHEERS! Let’s get to it.

Gropers gonna grope

Even if we were to consider Dementia Joe’s age and mental incompetence meant the loss of understanding what is acceptable behavior, the Oval Office Potted Plant has been handsy with little kids and a not-so-stealthy hair sniffer for decades. Biden defenders are quick to say that any of us who recognize that attempt at feeling up a little side-boob are Bad People for trying to taint a sweet moment between old friends.

Dears, have some more champagne to wash away the nasty taste in your mouth and know you are not obligated to believe their gaslighting.

CA Woke Lysenkoists are at it again

Up until [glances at watch] five minutes ago, infertility in human beings meant either the male or the female suffered from a physical abnormality that rendered them unable to reproduce. Unable to produce sperm because of being rendered sterile by a past disease? Fallopian tubes damaged by previous ectopic pregnancies? These abnormalities are tragic for a married couple who yearns for their own children. But two, healthy, sperm-producing males are not “infertile” as a couple because of abnormalities. It isn’t a medical condition that can be corrected.

SB-729 would repeal and add to sections of the state’s current Health and Safety Code and Insurance Code so that same-sex couples unable to reproduce together would be considered “infertile,” and insurance companies would be required to cover costs for treatments such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) or surrogacy.

Of course, everything must bend to Queering America …

The Democrat-sponsored bill was introduced by State Sen. Caroline Menjivar, who said that the legislation “will ensure that queer couples no longer have to pay more out of pocket to start families than non-queer families.”

I’m agog at the narcissism and hubris that demands same-sex couples, or even singles who don’t want to be bothered with finding a partner, are to be granted access to some of the most expensive infertility options on the table — PAID FOR BY EVERYONE ELSE’S premiums — cuz it’s just not fair two sperm producers don’t have a convenient uterus in the cupboard.

Oh wait. It’s going to cover IVF with some woman’s rented womb!

This is not only reducing women non-men* to another wing of “sex work”, but to bring a child into this world and deliberately depriving that child of a mother?

Yeah, baby. Fathers of the Year.

Ouch, I just cringed so hard I think I cramped a neck muscle. More booze, please.

Another real man steps up to the plate.

One Minnesota shop class teacher is bringing his real-world business experience to the classroom, helping prepare students for future careers. (snip)

(Rob) Van Der Hagen is an industrial tech teacher at BOLD High School in Olivia, Minn. He began his teaching career after the pandemic where he found himself in need of a new profession. After selling his auto parts stores, Van Der Hagen told FOX9 the idea of teaching crept into his mind around 2021. He joined BOLD High School’s Industrial Tech Program last fall.

Van De Hagen runs his class like a business. He gets projects from the community and has his students learning hands-on. And his expectations for the students are what he would have of as any employee —

“In our shops, it’s real world. They’re treated as such. Perfection is expected. They’ve got to do the job. Customer satisfaction. All that stuff.”

His students are grateful, and why not? They are getting invaluable experience in the real world where they will be expected to perform.

Van Der Hagen could have just retired. Instead, he looked at what he could do, in his own small way, to help turn youngsters into productive adults. He is the kind of teacher we desperately need across the country. The kind of person teacher’s unions sneer at as “unqualified” with dark hints at being a sinister plot.

But Van Der Hagen is doing his students proud. We certainly need more of him or any retired nurse, doctor, lawyer, chef, musician, architect, et al, in the classroom over the purple-haired, septum-pierced, gender-fluid harridans bragging about pronoun enforcement on TikTok.

Yes, I’ve been a bit more verbose this Sunday. This last week’s chapping of my hide was one of the chappiest yet and shows little sign of slowing down. But politics is downstream of culture and, boy howdy, my darlings, are we in an actual fight about the culture our il-liberal Leftist neighbors had told us was settled science.

Now, go enjoy the day, spend some of that time on your dad (he might not say it out loud, but that call or visit from you will make his year). Hug him close because …

“The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot.” —Michael Altshuler

See you next Sunday. Cheers!

Yes, and not entirely. Hedonism is one piece of Progressivism, but another large one is transhumanism. This gets a bot of both – you get the hedonism of homosexuality but also the transhumanism of simply creating a baby in vitro simply assigning it to whomever. The world for which Progressivism aims is one where we (well, certain of “we”, anyway) are gods – forcing nature to our will in every way and simply ignoring it when it won’t bow.

And, kudos to Mr Van Der Hagen. Teaching responsibility and skill is how you make adults.
