Sunday Morning Cafe Cocktails

Mimosa, Bloody Mary, nice flute of champagne — or maybe a favorite tipple in your coffee. Make yourself one and join me at our own Algonquin Round Table, the spirit of Dorothy Parker abides.

Happy Sunday, dear friends! Four days until New Years and we’ll have to get used to the fact that the first quarter of the 21st century is complete. How amazing when I feel that the 1990s were just yesterday. I propose we pour extra champagne today and Uber our way home for lazy afternoon naps. A few things I’d like to bring to your attention — as Our Betters on the Left never seem to sleep. Pass the plates, dig into brunch, and let’s get to it. L’Chaim!

Remember, Gavin Newsom is running for President

Governor Hairgel is poised to do a Zimbabwe-lite on California farmers of pallor …

For a peek into how California Governor Gavin Newsom would rule the country if elected President, look no further than his California Agricultural Land Equity Task Force. This ambiguous agency was buried within the state budget in 2022 during Newsom’s statewide Covid lockdown, when media was not allowed near the governor or Legislature.

“Established in the California Budget Act of 2022 (AB 179, Ting), the California Agricultural Land Equity Task Force is an independent 13-member body directed to ‘submit a report (by Jan. 1, 2026) to the Legislature and Governor…that includes a set of policy recommendations on how to address the agricultural land equity crisis.’”

You read that right. Gavin Newsom created a task force to address “the agricultural land equity crisis.”

What agricultural land equity crisis?

The report the Equity Task Force recently released recommending a land grab from white farmers reads like a “How To” Marxism 101 manual at UC Berkeley.

One of their primary grievances is that “demographic trends in landownership differ greatly from those of agricultural labor in California;” i.e. not enough farm workers own the land on which they work.

Say what? The baristas who work at Starbucks don’t own the company. School teachers don’t ‘own’ the schools they work at. Most employees — from Home Depot to your local hospital, do not own their place of employment. But the [white] people who own farms are a problem?

The report even recommends the development of local ordinances to restrict citizens from purchasing land unless they are part of a certain minority group.

This report has caught the attention of U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins. But make no mistake, this is what faces the rest of America if Newscum gets anywhere near the Oval Office.

For all those Democrats who flunked high school civics

Sunday must read

Here a gem you should not miss — David Thompson’s “The Year Reheated”.

In which we marvel at the mental contortions of our self-imagined betters.

Pour yourself an adult beverage of choice and settle in for a great read.

Mom wears the cape

A brave Los Angeles mom rushing to her frightened family slammed her $150,000 Mercedes G-Wagon into a home invasion gang’s alleged getaway vehicle on Saturday afternoon — and it was all caught on camera.

The dramatic video showed the moment the heroic mom zoomed into the suspect’s vehicle outside her Sherman Oaks home after she received a panicked phone call from her young kids and their grandmother, telling her thieves were trying to break into the house while the family was inside.

Standing ovation for a fast-thinking mom. Unfortunately, while Sherman Oaks is a very nice, upscale neighborhood, there is no place in Los Angeles that can be considered ‘safe’. Pro-criminal policies at local and state level enable this kind of brazen home-invasion and thugs go where the money is.

Sadly, dears, our Sunday brunch has come to an end. And it is our last Sunday of 2025. Go enjoy the rest of your day and we’ll pick this up in 2026. Cheers!

I am nearing my 80th decade and I can tell you that civics classes died in the late 1960’s! My older brother could not stop giving us re-runs a from civics class the entire year he had them. I could not wait! When I rolled into that senior year, nothing, nada, not allowed! It still rankles after all these years! Just sayin’……..
