Secretary Of Education Cocks Up Epic Ronald Reagan Quote

From time-to-time Victory Girls must ask if there is anyone in the Biden Administration who is competent in their position? With increasing clarity, it is obvious that the answer is NO. Usually we focus on two of the biggest failures in the Administration, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and Vice President Kamala Harris. Another player has entered the game for ridicule, Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona.

The Secretary of Education has managed to cock up one of the most epic Reagan quotations ever:

The best thing about Reagan’s great words was their clarity. There was no mistaking his meaning. Government programs are designed, not necessarily to help citizens, but to aid the government. Layers of bureaucracy and bureaucrats themselves often add layers of grief to the Average Joe’s problems. Most people understood the meaning. The Washington Examiner clarified this point also:

Reagan had a vision for a limited government, and his policies could be associated with the narrative that conservatives are anti-government while liberals are pro-government. In this particular conference, Reagan was speaking about how “government tends to be inefficient, to such a degree that instead of helping, it often causes harm instead,” according to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute.

It seems an easily understood principle, unless you are an expert in government education, like Miguel Cardona:

Cardona and other guests from the Biden administration had in-depth policy discussions with Western governors, covering various topics with a bipartisan approach. The governors representing the 22 westernmost states and territories passed four resolutions aimed at tackling issues such as the opioid epidemic and forestry and species management.

During one of the panels, Cardona discussed the Department of Education’s priorities, including reengaging students after the COVID-19 pandemic and providing them with training needed to excel in their careers. Cardona said the department will conduct “follow-up calls” with governors to support the needs of students across states.

After mentioning the follow-up calls, Cardona unironically cocked up the Reagan quote:

Yes, yes he can. For added terror, we have to think he has a speech writer. Or, a speech proofer. Somebody to check his work before he goes out and makes an utter and complete fool of himself. I just facepalmed. There truly is NO ONE competent in among the Bidenites.

The Blaze perfectly summed up the true paradox of this Education Secretary mangling that quote:

In an America where the centralized government is bigger and more powerful than ever, Cardona used Reagan’s words to advocate for the exact opposite vision of America from the one that Reagan dreamed of: Cardona is promising more government intervention, whereas Reagan envisioned an America with less.

What is even more ironic is that it was the education secretary, of all government officials, who butchered this famous American quote.

Perhaps it’s no surprise, then, that Reagan wanted to abolish the Education Department, a proposal that he eventually dropped because Congress did not support it.

Cardona began his career as a fourth grade teacher in Meriden, Connecticut. My remedy may seem familiar as a punishment. He should write 100 times:

“I will check my work before I turn it in”.
