Salon Preaches Donald Trump Is The Devil

Election Day is almost here, and with swing states being key this cycle, it is no surprise that the desperate left is now comparing Donald Trump to none other than Satan himself. I guess calling him Hitler has been a bit worn lately.

The Victory Girls have set Salon’s writers straight on a few occasions. Here I am to add to the pile.

A writing ecclesiastic over at Salon has taken it upon himself to compare Donald Trump to the devil.

But really, this is nothing new. Both sides like to name-call; it has become a part of America’s politics. It’s just the way it’s going to be from now on.

And before we go any further, yes, I am aware that a Trump supporter called out, “Kamala is the devil,” at the Madison Square Garden rally, which is probably where this preacher man, Nathaniel Manderson, who twaddles over on Salon from time to time got the idea for his latest gig at the online rag.

That’s not true; Manderson called Trump the antichrist earlier this year.

In an article published on progressive news website Salon, Nathaniel Manderson said his fellow evangelical believers should reject the former president. “If evangelical Christians really want to save this country and redeem the message of Christ — as I believe most of them do — they must begin by renouncing the Antichrist who has led them so far into darkness,” the journalist and former pastor wrote. – Newsweek

Nathaniel Manderson, an ex-construction worker turned pastor and a proud self-identified white man, has written up a whopper of a commentary today for Salon.

The reverend sits amongst his people at the local coffee shop while he pontificates and bangs out his latest drivel, comparing Donald Trump to Satan. He offers up the example in the Bible when Satan uses three temptations on Jesus Christ.

As I consider the temptations in my own life, I realize that the current leadership of the evangelical church in America — which is my own religious background — has fallen prey to the temptations offered by Donald Trump. These temptations are eerily similar to the temptations the devil offered Jesus in the desert, before Jesus began his ministry. – Salon

Why anyone would think it is a good idea to put such sacrilegious content online in writing speaks volumes of the opinion writer-man. As a pastor, he should know better. Referring to false witnessing.

Oh, but it gets worse.

Manderson attempts to tell us that Donald Trump is the devil because he’s greedy, or the American people are selfish, or something like that. So, I guess Americans are greedy for wanting to provide better for their families instead of relying on government handouts?

Dear readers, the following provided quote that you are about to read, you may not want to have a mouthful of coffee, for it may spew from your nostrils due to your reflex to uncontrollable laughter.

Somehow or other, for many evangelical Christians, paying proper wages to the working class, offering opportunities to the disadvantaged and welcoming foreigners have become evil things, and providing tax breaks for billionaires has become a foundation of the Christian faith. Trump has offered evangelical leaders almost limitless bags of cash, and those leaders will do anything to get their hands on it. – Salon

He claims Trump has offered evangelical leaders almost limitless bags of cash. Wow. I’d like to see that. But I guess since it’s just a commentary piece, no proof needs to be given.

And I can’t decide if Manderson is stealing conservative values to make it his own or if he has lost all remnants of common sense. I guess fiscal responsibility, human dignity, and peace through strength are all forms of the devil’s temptations now.

The fact that he is trying to use this as how the left sees themselves is indeed laughable.

Next, we have the preacher telling us how Donald Trump has taken Christians away from their mission by offering them protection and safety.

It should be obvious that Jesus Christ did not live a safe life, a protected life or a comfortable life. Promises of protection and safety would have taken him off course just as Trump’s temptations have taken the evangelical leadership away from what should be their true mission. – Salon

Indeed, following Christ does not promise a life of luxury and protection. The Bible teaches us a lot of things, and I suggest reading it for yourself instead of taking the word from another man.

Put on your armor and be watchful; the devil looks for someone to devour. And the devil is not Trump.

The last of Nathaniel Manderson’s rantings about Trump being the devil concerns power and corruption. I’m not going to lie; I agree with some of the things he discusses in his last point. But how he has the nerve to tie Donald Trump to the church, delving off into some form of watered-down Christianity, is beyond me.

The church has strayed from its one true God message, but it’s not because of Donald J. Trump or his supporters. No, sir, that started a very long time ago with power and corruption all its own, tied to no politician but resting on all of us.

Two more days, ya’ll, two more days. And then what? Well, stay tuned and break open your Bible.

You mean trafficking women and children? I’m pretty sure that is evil.

In 2020, there was someone local who wrote letters to the editor spewing this same garbage. He even paid for ads in the local paper, complete with cherry-picked Bible verses to “prove” that Trump was evil incarnate, and that his followers were being led down the path to hell. After a while it went from annoying to hilarious, as his ads became more and more unhinged. No sign of him this election year, though. If I remember correctly, he was some kind of medical professional. Could be he lost enough patients that he decided to lie low this time.

All of them are just pure evil !!!!!

  • Mad Celt says:

They are afraid Trump will end most of their pet projects such as abortion, open borders, gay rights and free stuff to buy votes. Not that He was thought a devil but Christ was considered a danger to the Israeli status quo, who was corrupt to the core.

    • GWB says:

Actually, He was accused of being demon-possessed multiple times in Scripture. It’s a standard accusation when someone starts hitting too close to home about your sin.

  • GWB says:

Well, Salon is on a first name basis with the Devil, so they should know, right?

(I’ll go read the post now.)

Sorry, Mr Manderson, but you are NOT an evangelical Christian. You’re a Progressive. That puts you in the place of an anti-Christ.

As I consider the temptations in my own life
You seem to be holding them up to a different standard than Christ’s.

These temptations are eerily similar to the temptations the devil offered Jesus in the desert, before Jesus began his ministry.
Obviously you didn’t take away from that story one of the prime evangelical points: the Devil can quote Scripture, too. Only a right reading of Scripture will make the Devil flee. (And, in case the point is lost on you, again, Mr Manderson, I’m putting you in the role of Tempter, here.)

paying proper wages to the working class, offering opportunities to the disadvantaged and welcoming foreigners
And, right there, you out yourself as Progressive, not Christian. Because the first is the place of the employer, not the government, and definitely not the government’s job to set. And the second is a common linguistic sleight of hand to claim not having government force employers to hire unqualified people is the same as someone hating retarded people and not hiring them. (Progressivism is the perfecter of the motte-and-bailey argument!) And welcoming foreigners (another twisting of words; a favorite pastime of the Devil) is not the same as letting anyone who wants to to come over our border and start living off of our (government-mandated, because he’s a Progressive) charity.

It also demonstrates he has never absorbed the lessons throughout Scripture of what government’s job is. It is NOT to force the people to be virtuous. It is to enforce justice and defend from invasion (you know, like millions and millions of foreigners coming to live in your country). That’s pretty much it. It’s not to have compassion on the less fortunate (there is actually a verse in Scripture about not favoring the poor, either, in your judgments, but to do right), or to starve your family to feed the poor. Heck, let’s just toss Paul into the mix: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”

Progressivism does away with all the governors placed on Christian virtues and turns them not only into Law, but mandates government force you at the muzzle of a gun to perform them. All the while ignoring true virtue as not enough.

Trump has offered evangelical leaders almost limitless bags of cash
OK, now you’ve gone from a blaspheming Progressive to a nut case. Where are these offers of bags of cash? Are they in the room with you right now?

And I can’t decide if Manderson is stealing conservative values to make it his own or if he has lost all remnants of common sense.
    Yes.

    Promises of protection and safety
Wow. Gaslighting for sure. Because this is exactly the promise Progressivism makes. It’s the very essence of Julia’s life from the old 0bamaCare ads – protection and safety from cradle to grave.

And the devil is not Trump.
No, but I will remind everyone he is also not your savior, nor even the savior of the country. He is merely a man – sinful and flawed. And he is not a conservative, though he is not bent on our destruction as Progressives are (so they can build their utopia). He is merely a Democrat who loves America as it has been. That means he is still to the right of a LOT of recent Republican nominees for President. And that makes him, perhaps, the essential man right now.

The church has strayed from its one true God message, but it’s not because of Donald J. Trump or his supporters.
Nope. Primarily because of people like this Mr Manderson, who twist Scripture to mean that which it does not. And to make men into angels (or gods) without the redemptive power of Christ’s blood or the necessary understanding of Man’s sinfulness. And, yes, by the lack of attention given to the seductive words of Satan and by not calling them out for lies the are.
