Ron DeSantis: Please Don’t Pick Lara Trump For Rubio’s Seat

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will soon be tasked with appointing a replacement for Marco Rubio, the Senior Senator from Florida. We like Donald Trump’s choice of Rubio as Secretary of State. What a step up from twat spangle Antony Blinken! Blinken looks like he knows he could not get hired to scan packages at UPS. Governor DeSantis is blessed with a wealth of talent in the Sunshine Shine. So much talent that he has absolutely no reason to pick the chattering classes current favorite: Lara Trump.

We are still hoping that Mrs. Trump will take herself out of the running. According to The Western Journal, as of today, she has not:

Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump said Monday it would be “an honor” to represent the state of Florida in the U.S. Senate.

A vacancy is likely to emerge in January after Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida is confirmed as secretary of State in the Trump administration.

Trump, the wife of Eric Trump, the eldest son of President-elect Donald Trump, has been mentioned as a possible contender for the post.

On Monday, speaking to WABC hosts John Catsimatidis and Rita Cosby, she offered her take on the speculation.

“This is obviously up to the governor,” she said, adding that she had not yet spoken to DeSantis about the vacancy.

“I do know the Make-America-Great-Again-America-First agenda better than anyone,” she said. “I’ve lived it for nine years right alongside Donald Trump.”

“I’ve been really honored to serve as co-chair of the RNC throughtout the duration of his campaign,” she said.

“If I’m asked to serve in the capacity of the United States Senate, it’s something I would seriously consider,” she said.

“We need great people in the Senate,” she said, to confirm the president-elect’s appointments and move his agenda forward.

“(S)eriously consider”. Noooooo! Lara Trump did a fine job as Co-chair of the Republican National Committee with Michael Whatley. Compared to Ronna Romney McDaniels that’s a low bar. Ronna was a disaster of nuclear proportions for the Republican Party. On the other hand…

Not just “No”, but “Hale NO”! Just say no to a Nepo wife parachuting in to Florida from North Carolina on Trump Force One with her husband and two kids in carpetbags. She’ll bring in her auto-tune and pitch correcting software for her music career.

I am not a fan of inherited or willed seats either. Like say, Debbie Dingel who inherited her congressional seat from her husband who inherited it from his Dad. I am not a fan of political dynasties of any kind. Anyone from the Kennedy or Bush families need to sit out for a generation or three. Now, if Lara Trump wanted to win a seat in her new home of Florida, she could wait for an election, win a primary, door knock and go to barbecues and, hopefully, win a district seat. That’s how you win legitimately.

Ron DeSantis has an abundance of blessings. According to Politico, here are some thoughts Ron DeSantis has on a potential Senator and a few of his options:

“Florida deserves a senator who will help President Trump deliver on his election mandate, be strong on immigration and border security, take on the entrenched bureaucracy and administrative state, reverse the nation’s fiscal decline, be animated by conservative principles, and has a proven record of results,” he wrote.

The person he picks will remain in the role until at least 2026, which is when a special election to finish the final two years of Rubio’s term would be held. There would then be a regularly scheduled election in 2028 for a full term.

Possible contenders close to DeSantis include Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez, Attorney General Ashley Moody, former Florida House Speaker Jose Oliva and chief of staff James Uthmeier.

Nearly the entire Florida Republican delegation would be fine choices for Rubio’s seat. Brian Mast, Kat Cammack, Greg Steube, Byron Donalds and Cory Mills, to be fair Mills has often been busy saving stranded Americans at home and abroad during the Biden/Harris years. They have all worked hard and have carried the MAGA or Common Sense Republican message forward. Ron DeSantis does not need and should not pick Lara Trump for any elected position in Florida. Think well on this Governor DeSantis.

Just say no to Lara Trump.

I saw “twat spangle” in the lede and thought “It has to be Toni!” I was right. 🙂

I think they need to leave Lara Trump right where she is to push hard the next 4 years on “Trumpifying” the Republican party. (I don’t want the party to become all Trump in its principles. I want it to become Constitutionally conservative. But I want all of its electees and candidates to be based and willing to fight for right and freedom. As defined by Constitutional conservatism. Instead of the current batch of Progressive-light and Quisling “loyal opposition.”)

    Also, NO dynasties! None. Never.

Don’t you think referencing Politico to lay out DeSantis’ options is a strange choice?

Would Lara Trump be a good choice? I am not a big fan of dynasties, but if she can do the job better than anyone else, I don’t care what her last name is. All that matters is whether she is the best choice for the job. Since her home is now in Florida, she is certainly eligible.

Frankly, I don’t think DeSantis will choose her if he does not think she will represent Florida well.

I like Lara Trump. I think she’s been great at the RNC. However, I don’t really want her as my senator. There seems to be a push on X for her. Besides the people mentioned above, you can add Jeanette Nunez, Pam Bondi, Ashley Moody, Wilton Simpson, and Jimmy Patronis. I want someone who is Florida through and through.

So, either an 80yo retiree from snow country or that dude who stands in hip deep water screaming defiance at a hurricane while waving an American flag? 🙂

Ashley Moody? Seriously? No. She is an absolute dope.

She and Whatley(?) need to stay at the RNC and prepare for the 2026 mid-terms. Historically, the Pres loses seats in the mid-terms. Pres then has his agenda short-circuited and the last two years of his term will be stymied/lost. He needs four years with the Senate and House controlled by Trumpist Republicans to get his transformations completed.

    DeSantis is the man!

  • Howard Hirsch says:

Ashley is probably planning a run for governor–something to which all state AGs aspire.

However, her predecessor, Pam Bondi, would be an excellent choice, based on her loyalty to the MAGA agenda alone. She was one of Trump’s attorneys during his first impeachment trial, and that’s good enough for me.
