Rashida Tlaib Earns Antisemite of the Year Title

The Jewish group StopAntisemitism announced that Rep. Rashida Tlaib earned its “Antisemite of the Year” title for 2023 in its annual poll. It’s bad enough that a sitting member of Congress should earn this sort of accolade, but what’s even more eyebrow-raising is that she beat out a Hamas leader.

Tlaib also prevailed over supermodel Gigi Hadid who accused Israel of being “the only country in the world that keeps children as prisoners of war.” Hadid backpedaled and issued a groveling apology, but Tlaib never, ever backs down from her hatred of Jews.

As for the Hamas leader whom Tlaib defeated for this dubious distinction: he is Ismail Haniyeh, whom the BBC described as “Hamas’s overall leader.” The BBC added that, “In 2018, the US Department of State designated Haniyeh a terrorist. He has lived in Qatar for the past several years.”

So even a designated terrorist who lives large in Qatar didn’t rise to the Jew-Hater heights that Tlaib has. Let’s examine why.

Tlaib’s Greatest Antisemitic Hits

The congresswoman’s hatred of Israel and of Jews became evident when she became a member of the House of Representatives from Michigan. Remember how she displayed the Palestinian flag outside her office door? Not only that, this flag took prominence over the US flag or the state flag of Michigan, which were displayed off to the side. This was a brazen, in-your-face act of defiance.

Moreover, despite the October 7 massacre by Hamas, Tlaib keeps that flag hanging outside her office.

Here are more of Rashida Tlaib’s antisemitic actions:

• After the massacre, she pushed a video that promoted a genocidal message against Jews. She also blamed Joe Biden for supporting “the genocide of the Palestinian people.”

• Then she lied about her use of the phrase, “From the river to the sea” in her video:

From the river to the sea is an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction, or hate. My work and advocacy is always centered in justice and dignity for all people no matter faith or ethnicity.

• She made the false claim that Israeli Defense Forces bombed a hospital in Gaza. Tlaib continued to blame Israelis despite video that showed the cause to be a misfired Palestinian rocket.

• And how can anyone forget Tlaib’s cold scorn towards the reporter who asked if she had any comment about dead Israeli babies slain by Hamas?

• Plus, we also learn that Rashida Tlaib has had Hamas fundraising ties. In 2018, during her initial run for Congress, three pro-Hamas activists — Salah Sarsour, Rafeeq Jaber, and Abdelbaset Hamayel — hosted meet-and-greet fundraisers for her. Sarsour, along with his brother, funneled money to terrorism groups as well.

Nice company she keeps there.

Rashida Tlaib Hates Jews More Than She Loves America

A few years ago I read the book Midnight in Broad Daylight, which told the story of Col. Harry Fukuhara, who served as a Japanese interpreter in World War II. Despite having grown up in the Seattle area dealing with anti-Asian bigotry, and being initially incarcerated in a relocation camp, Fukuhara became an invaluable member of the intelligence community.

Col. Fukuhara knew his allegiance was to the United States. So did the members of the 442nd Infantry Regiment of World War II, the most decorated unit in US history. The members of the 442nd were Nisei, second generation Americans of Japanese ancestry, who had also been interned in relocation camps.

I also think of my grandfather, an ethnic German immigrant from Lithuania. Before the US entered WW II, a friend had invited him to join the German-American Bund. My grandfather refused, explaining that he was an American now (he became a citizen in 1927). His allegiance lay with the United States.

But Rashida Tlaib? She was born in America of Palestinian immigrants, grew up in the US, and was able to attend university and law school. Now she has the privilege of serving in the United States Congress. She’s not an immigrant. Nor has she ever been placed in a relocation camp. So you think she’d be grateful to this nation for the privileges she has received.

But no. Rashida Tlaib has greater allegiance to Palestine, a place where she has never lived. And she hates Jews more than she loves her own country.

Perfect example of why we should stop importing those that hate America! While I’m sure that the universities she attended helped develop her hatred of Jews, you can bet your bottom dollar that the seeds of that hatred started at home with her parents…

    • John Shepherd says:

Anti-Semitism exists across the political spectrum, just read the comments on any instapundit posting that has anything to do with Jews . Anti-Semitism does not have to be imported. It has been around for a very long time. If not a single Palestinian Arab lived in this country the Progressives, cheered on privately by white nationalists, would be shouting “from the river to the sea.

      • Scott says:

Agreed. And since there’s more than enough (any number is more than enough) homegrown ones, we damn sure don’t need to import more.

I was just thinking as I sit here beside the fire sipping a glass of Mead that since Allahu is not God that means his followers are hearing voices. Tailbone, here, is nutty enough I could well believe she’s a candidate for Happy Acres.

  • NTSOG says:

From what I have read I suspect Rashida Tlaib will be proud to have earned this award such is her loathing for the USA and its diverse people.

    • Lloyd says:

Agree….and Obama would be proud of her, too. His plan is to increase the size of the congressional squad with each new election.
