The two couldn’t possibly be related, could they?
Obama & Co had to sell the stimulus package to us. It didn’t really matter — they could have passed it even if it had 0% public approval and no Republicans voting for it (I don’t count the three traitors as Republicans, by the way). But of course, they wanted to appear noble and they didn’t want to get voted out of office. They didn’t want their phone lines to crash with angry callers who didn’t want to see so much debt. We were told that the stimulus package was needed to help create jobs and to help stem the economic bleeding. Supposedly, it would save or create three million jobs and keep the unemployment rate under 8%.
Well, the unemployment rate is now at 9.8%, the highest in 26 years, and we’ve lost over two million jobs — that’s a difference of 6.2 million. This chart shows that, out of fifty states, forty nine of them have been losing jobs rather than gaining them.
The only state to see an increase was North Dakota. They gained just short of 2,000 jobs. Coincidentally, they also just cut their income tax rate.
Again: could there possibly be a correlation here? Pay attention, liberals. I know it’s difficult, but stick with me here.
If you cut taxes, people have more money. Get it so far? Good.
If people who own small businesses have less money taken out of their pockets, they have more money to put into their business. Still with me? All right.
If the people who own small businesses have more money to put into their businesses, then they are more likely to hire people. Eventually, they might even start making a larger profit for themselves, thus enabling them to spend more money and boost the economy.
WOW! What a concept!
Of course, if you go the liberal route and tax small business owners into oblivion, then they have no alternatives other than to fire employees, raise prices, or shut down. And this approach is horrific for businesses. Just look at upstate New York and Michigan, two areas with strong liberal policies enacted that have become economic wastelands. You’d think liberals would learn, but of course they don’t. They just keep trying to implement the same failed policies on a nationwide scale and are then baffled when it doesn’t work.
Sounds a lot like what’s going on in Obama’s head right now, doesn’t it?

I don’t understand the mentality of raising taxes when you’re trying to boost the economy. It is completely backwards.
My state was rid of our Dem governor, only to be replaced by a Rep who decided to raise our taxes. Real smart, ma’am! Here we were, hoping for a little bit of salvation, but instead, we got more of the same. No wonder we’re bleeding jobs out our ears.
whoever wrote this is a complete idiot.
Actually, there’s another reason for the jobs moving to North Dakota.
Oil. Read about the Bakken oil formation. There’s a huge oil boom that’s expected to last at least through the next decade (BILLIONS of barrels of oil up there)
It very likely has little to do with the tax decrease. North Dakota has always been a lower cost of living state, with beautiful scenery and low crime. There has also been plenty of affordable real estate and the state wasn’t hit with the huge bubble prices.
I’ve been up to Fargo and Grand Forks many times and would love to live there!
So, what the liberals SHOULD be embracing is “Drill here, Drill now!” North Dakota is doing just that, and it’s creating jobs. Not just the jobs for the folks doing the drilling, but businesses all around reap the benefits.
Proud to say I live in North Dakota. Here in Grand Forks, there are help wanted signs all over the place. Granted, a good portion are for part time positions, but it’s encouraging–especially going into the holiday season.
Bob is right on the money. I think North Dakota is one of the best kept secrets. The winters take a bit of getting used to but it’s a great place to raise families.
I own property and mineral rights in North Dakota in Mountrail…a hotspot in the Bakken oil area. I agree that “drill here drill now” is a great theme to help a local economy. It is amazing how environmentally safe and efficient drilling is today. We need to look within our borders for increased oil exploration.
