It was a rough night in the St. Louis area last night, as an off-duty white police officer shot and killed an 18-year-old black male during a chase. The black male was not named, and there were few details about the event overnight. That didn’t stop tensions from going sky-high; protestors took to the streets once again, punching and kicking police cars, breaking windows, and chanting.
Teyonna Myers, 23, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper that she was the cousin of the suspect and that he was unarmed when he was killed.
“He had a sandwich in his hand, and they thought it was a gun. It’s like Michael Brown all over again,” she told the paper.
Reuters reported that the off-duty cop—who was wearing his uniform at the time—was working for a private security firm and had approached three people. The three fled when he walked up to them; police say that the 18-year-old man turned and fired three shots at the off-duty officer as he was being chased. The cop fired 17 shots at the fleeing man, and police also say they recovered a weapon at the scene.
The Shaw neighborhood of St. Louis is about 11 miles south of Ferguson.
I guess the media needed a new circus. And Al Sharpton needed a new pot to stir.
So.
Tired.
Of.
This.
Crap.
“He had a sandwich in his hand, and they thought it was a gun.”
No, they thought it was a Pop-Tart.

What I want to know is: was the security guard wearing a police uniform? Was he shooting with his police weapon? Did he identify himself as a police officer?
If not, why is every lead “White Cop Kills Black Teen? Shouldn’t it be Security Guard Kills Adult Suspect?
I know, I know. It’s rhetoric.
Reading latest updates….
Don’t know where you can get a sandwich that can fire off at least three bullets, but I’d surely like one of those!
Talk about concealed carry…..
And da noive, da noive I tells ya, of a police officer daring to return fire at someone who is shooting at him. Didja ever hear of such a thing?
Harrumph!
Vonderrit only got off three shots before his gun jammed and the po-lice fired sev-un-teen shots back at him! And while he was running away! 17 shots! #AmmoJustice
Exactly, Xavier. The reporting I’ve seen on this is awful.
Anything to support their agenda….

I do have a complaint about this incident: WHY IN THE HECK did this officer fire SEVENTEEN rounds and only wound the guy?
This is a serious and massive ongoing problem with police everywhere – they can’t hit what they’re aiming at. If a civilian did this, the gun-grabbers would be marching on state capitols. We should expect better of our police (and of our off-duty police who are security guards). The training for these folks is inadequate, particularly as it pertains to tactical situations.
LaserGrips.
OK, dumbass me – he didn’t just wound the guy. Still can’t call it “good shooting” but I was wrong on the “just wounded”.
If I fired SEVENTEEN rounds at one person, my DI would have me cleaning latrines for a month. Or, maybe I should say, “Where does that ‘cop/security guard’ buy his ammo?”
