We thought we had turned the corner on crazy with the election and inauguration of President Donald Trump. We thought that Gender Ideology was O-V-E-R. We were ever so wrong. The state of Oregon which, apparently, has a breeding program for crazy has doubled down. An entity named JD Holt, who uses the pronouns “they/them/terrapin” has been appointed to an Oregon Mental Health Advisory Board.
In the past, humans with mental illnesses have been treated abominably, true fact. But closing the facilities and releasing the patients to the streets has not made anyone’s mental health better or the world safer. JD Holt, who also goes by JD Terrapin, is proof of that. It’s important to have people who have had mental health challenges on advisory boards, but not people in the midst of a delusion.
How did the mentally ill turtle person get appointed to the board? The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) has a panel to advise on the best practices. From Fox News:
JD Holt, who also goes by “JD Terrapin” on Facebook, is one of roughly two dozen “consumers” on the OHA’s Consumer Advisory Council (OCAC). The council, established by administrative statute, is appointed by OHA Director Dr. Sejal Hathi, who was appointed by Gov. Tina Kotek, a Democrat.
The purpose of the OCAC is to advise Hathi on the state’s provision of mental health services, including through investigations and reviews of current practices.
This video is a subcommittee of OCAC, the Trauma Informed Systems Subcommittee. The meeting must start five minutes late in order to not stress out people who might be four minutes late. JD Holt is the second person to speak. You don’t have to watch the whole thing unless you are a masochist, speaking of mental wellness:
Yup, she sure did list her pronouns as they, them and turtle. Notice how proud they seem of their issues. A whole “buffet table”. People shouldn’t be embarrassed. On the other hand, mental issues shouldn’t be a badge of honor.
From Fox again:
“Hello everybody, it’s JD. I use they, them and turtle for my pronouns. I’m in the Springfield-Eugene area and I get to be part of the council,” Holt said during a Dec. 20 virtual OCAC meeting. Gender Wiki, a website that documents the list of non-binary genders, describes “turtlegender,” sometimes called “tortoisegender,” as “a xenogender identity in which one feels a gendered connection to turtles.”
“One may feel their gender is replaced by a ‘turtle,’ or their gender is best described with the use of turtles,” the site reads.
Yes, if you stuck around a few seconds longer, the next guy was Luke, Reverend Luke Walters aka Luke a shooting star. According to BizPacReview:
In a review of Holt’s Facebook page, Fox News found that Holt “has promoted ‘anarchist’ causes and encouraged people to obstruct immigration enforcement actions.”
“WHAT TO DO AT AN ICE CHECKPOINT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE WHITE and/or FEEL THE NEED TO JAM UP THE WORKS,” a Jan. 29 Facebook post reads.
Classic. Also, I found this reference to JD Holt on Facebook:
While that is a lovely, well-thought-out letter, Roxanne was precise and concise:
I swear every mental health counselor in Oregon is fking insane.
And the word “turtle” is a noun. Not everything is a goddamn pronoun, you narcissistic buffoons— Roxanne (@It_smaam) March 13, 2025
Roxanne rocks.
Mental illness is not a laughing matter, but in today’s world neither is it a badge of honor, even for terrapin-selves.

I really want these people dropped off on an isolated patch of real estate in the middle of nowhere to keep the rest of us safe from them.
We used to do that. The places were called “asylums.”
I’d be ok with calling Johnston Atoll (or similar) a “free range asylum”, though.
“Hey, look! They’re organic!”
“We could use it as a bombing range!”
“OK, first off: Keep your voice down…”
The risk with asylums is they are still too close to normal people. I want a reservation out somewhere far enough away that the only people who could get hurt are them.
Why do such issues pose such a threat to people like you? Have they made your or your family’s life miserable in some way, however small?
If you have to ask, you’ll never understand. It should be obvious to any person capable of rational thought that encouraging mental illness is not good for a society.
But you do you Sparky…
Yes, they have. They insist on trying to force me to condone their insanity and insist on forcing it down the throats of our children. Insisting on insanity and denying reality are good ways to make your entire society collapse.
Sure, you might not think it’s a bad thing to live in a world that is the combination of the worst of Robert E Howard and Monty Python, but I do.
People shouldn’t be embarrassed.
Oh yes, they should. No, you shouldn’t be embarrassed about seeing a counselor for your depression or social awkwardness. But you should damn well be embarrassed if the counselor says “Nah, go out and live your authentic turtle self!” And you should be embarrassed for your counselor, too. There is a big difference between “being different” (which is ok) and “being nucking bug futz” (which needs lithium and probably being locked up).
Roxanne rocks.
She sure does. The “pronoun” thing is a way to control other people by warping language out of all purpose. And insist on using “it” if they can’t decide between “he” or “she”. Or you can use the form I use, “she/he/it” – say it slow like you have a drawl and you’ll understand its usefulness.
Nothing like adding some impetus to the Greater Idaho movement! And I hope central and eastern Washington join in too.
Is this JD Holt thingie a male turtle or a female turtle? I don’t think turtles have LGBT++ societies.
