MBS Is Generous, Trump Excoriates ABC Reporter

The pageantry was exquisite, MBS (Mohammed bin Salman) was generous and everyone was on their best behavior…everyone except for the ABC reporter and Trump lit her up like a Christmas tree.

When President Trump visited Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) last May. the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia pulled out every bit of sizzle they could. Trump believes in reciprocal tariffs and reciprocal hospitality, too. Trump to make sure that he gave as good as he got.

MBS’s car was escorted into the District of Columbia by riders on horses. His arrival at the White House was greeted by President Trump, an Army Band, Trumpeters and a flyover. It was magnificent.

Trump had Susie Wiles, J.D. Vance, Marco Rubio and Scott Bessent on his side of the room while MBS had an equal number of equerries on side. All of this was negotiated months in advance, I am sure.

During Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia in May, the Kingdom announced a $600 billion investment in the United States. Trump reiterated the investment today in the United States. Trump joked that he was going to try to get Saudi Arabia to bump it up to One Trillion Dollars. MBS then joked that in reality the investment would be One Trillion Dollars.

From Stocktwits:

President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that Saudi Arabia has agreed to invest $600 billion in the United States, with the potential to increase the pledge to nearly $1 trillion.

“We count on $600 billion,” Trump told reporters. He framed the investment as a major boost for job creation. “Because he’s my friend, he might make it a trillion, but I’m going to have to work on him,” Trump added, referring to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

“That means investments in plants, in companies, money on Wall Street… And what it really means for everybody that really counts is jobs. A lot of jobs.”

In response, the Crown Prince emphasized Saudi Arabia’s commitment to U.S. growth, stating the kingdom “believes in the future of America” and signaling plans to increase the investment to nearly $1 trillion.

The best part. The absolute best part was when ABC reporter Mary Bruce was impertinent when asking Trump and MBS questions. Real Clear Politics has the write up:

At a Monday Oval Office press conference alongside Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, President Donald Trump chastised ABC News White House correspondent Mary Bruce over her line of questioning about the Jeffrey Epstein files. Earlier in the press availability, he labeled her “fake news” when she attempted to ask a question. Trump also said he removed Epstein from his club “many years ago because I thought he was a sick pervert.”

“You know, it’s not the question that I mind,” Trump said. “It’s your attitude. I think you are a terrible reporter. It’s the way you ask these questions.”

“You’re a terrible person and a terrible reporter,” Trump added.

“I’ll tell you something,” Trump said. “I think the license should be taken away from ABC because your news is so fake. And it’s so wrong. And we have a great commissioner, the chairman, who should look at that.”

“You’re not after the radical left because you’re a radical left network,” Trump told Bruce. “But I think the way you ask a question with the anger and the meanness is terrible. You ought to go back and learn how to be a reporter. No more questions from you.”

This visit had everything we have come to expect from Trump. And, reporters should learn to be respectful.
