Mamdani Rally Draws Big Names, But Did He Tell A Big Lie?

New York City is about to get the socialism it wants, good and hard, via the hand of Zohran Mamdani.

Team Mamdani held a rally last night at the Forest Hills Stadium (which apparently seats up to 15,000 and pissed off the neighborhood because they got late notice of the event, and were told to clear the roads for the rally by the NYPD), where the big names came out to strike up the band as early voting gets underway. Yes, Bernie was there. Yes, AOC was there. And in order to kiss the ring and show her fealty (and utter cowardice) to the socialist crowd, Kathy Hochul was there.

But she probably wishes that she hadn’t gone.

Gov. Kathy Hochul was berated by hecklers screaming “tax the rich!” as she took the stage at Zohran Mamdani’s packed mayoral rally in Queens Sunday night, forcing the headlining candidate to come out early to quell the unrelenting crowd.

Hochul, who had recently endorsed Mamdani for New York City mayor despite previously voicing concerns about his tax-the-rich policies, attempted to stay on message during her surprise appearance despite the drowning boos and chants.

“Right now, our city and our state and our country are under attack by Donald Trump and our Republicans in Washington,” Hochul said from the stage, where she was flanked by state Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie.

She continued to rail against the government shutdown, ICE raids in the Big Apple, and the indictment of Attorney General Letitia James.

“Oh, you’re fired up, you’re fired up,” Hochul shot back at the hecklers as they continued to drown out her words.

“Alright. I can hear you,” she said, bringing some brief cheers before audience members lobbed more jeers.

“You want to see Zohran or not?” she asked impatiently, while mispronouncing his name.

Hochul struggled to get through the rest of her remarks, ending with a final plea to take “that energy, that passion” into 2026 midterm elections and at last earned persistent applause from the crowd.

Mamdani then walked onto the stage — well before his scheduled appearance as the final speaker — and hugged the governor, raising her hand in the air to cheers. He greeted Stewart-Cousins and Heastie before escorting Hochul off stage.

Well, Kathy, hope that was fun. You just handed a whole lot of ad campaign material to whomever your Republican challenger will end up being, AND whomever that candidate will likely get a whole year of Zohran Mamdani as mayor of New York City before the gubernatorial election in 2026. Since Hochul has now tied herself to Mamdani, she will get to bear the electoral brunt of whatever comes after he becomes mayor. And it seems all but inevitable that he will be mayor, as the polls are still showing him with a commanding lead over Andrew Cuomo (his only real competition).

And you can tell that Mamdani is fully expecting this win – and that people will be falling in line with him. He said during a podcast interview that he plans on asking the police commissioner, Jessica Tisch, to stay on – but that she will totally do what he wants.

Speaking on the Hell Gate podcast Friday, Mamdani, 34, was confronted with concerns that Tisch would stand against the type of reforms the Democratic Socialist and his supporters are pushing for, given her previous positions.

“Lots of people who support your candidacy care about criminal-justice reform and reforming the NYPD, and for the past year, she has stood to thwart that,” host Christopher Robbins reminded Mamdani as the host asked for an explanation as to why the frontrunner said he would keep Tisch on board if elected.

Mamdani quickly defended his decision by claiming that Tisch had already been working to accomplish some of the ideas he was pushing, including the formation of a Department of Public Safety.

But Robbins still appeared skeptical, as Tisch has been a vocal opponent of some criminal-justice reforms, claiming last month that spikes in crime were due to the changes passed by ex Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

The police commissioner has also backed the decision to keep the city’s controversial gang database active, as well as pushed for a crackdown on low-level offenses and opposed bail and judicial-discovery reform, as Robbins and his fellow hosts pointed out.

“So she’s going to reverse her position on all those things?” Robbins asked Mamdani skeptically. “She’s going to follow your lead in City Hall?”

Mamdani replied, “I think everyone will follow my lead.

“I’ll be the mayor.”

Mamdani then had to admit in a different interview that he has not actually spoken with Commissioner Tisch since July, so he is taking a very big gamble in asserting authority that he does not yet have, hoping that the commissioner will stay on instead of resigning. But that is how Zohran Mamdani rolls – have big plans, speak in big platitudes, roll out catchy slogans like “freeze the rent,” “fast and free buses,” and “child care for all.” And when asked how all this will happen? “Tax the rich!”

But Mamdani is here to make the socialism sound soooooo good. The government is here to give you “dignity!”

However, a new problem may be brewing for Zohran Mamdani. Remember how he was informing everyone of just how terrible and Islamophobic everyone was to his poor auntie after 9/11 in New York City, to the point where she didn’t want to ride the subway anymore in her hijab? Not only was this blatant guilt tripping from this snake oil socialist salesman, it appears that it may have all been a huge lie.

Several accounts on X have done some digging, and Zohran’s aunt, Masuma Mamdani, lived in Tanzania from January 2000 to December 2003 – and doesn’t wear a hijab. So, will the media question Mamdani about this potentially gigantic whopper? I predict that Mamdani will weasel his way out of this one with the explanation that his “auntie” was a family friend who was LIKE an aunt to him and how dare anyone question “her truth” that he is conveniently exploiting to make everyone feel guilty. Vote for him!

Right now, the Democrat party is falling into an obedient line behind Zohran Mamdani. Hakeem Jeffries has now offered up his endorsement. The stage is being set for New York City to become a bona fide socialist experiment, where only the rich can afford to escape. Mamdani’s mouth is writing checks that his butt can’t cash, but the failures will never be his fault. New York City just didn’t socialism hard enough, he will say. Meanwhile, the rest of the country will be watching this slow-moving train wreck, and will hopefully take it as a precautionary tale – not as a challenge to do the socialisming better.
