Just in case you still, inexplicably and without any semblance of reason, think that the government collecting all your metadata is no big deal, here’s this tidbit from former NSA director Michael Hayden, who agreed that the US “kills people based on metadata,” even as he defended the program saying that it’s important to “no focus on the potentiality of the program.” In other words, don’t look at what we could do, or actually do, with your info; just look at what we tell you to look at.
What’s more disturbing is, just like we’ve been telling you over and over, metadata “can tell the government ‘everything’ about anyone it’s targeting for surveillance, often making the actual content of the communication unnecessary.”
There is no possible way to spin this into a positive. There is no way to claim this is Constitutional, and there is no way that We the People should allow the federal government to have this much power. When you consider that the NSA has played a role in the drone program—providing information that led to drone strikes—then you literally have a government that is not only spying on its citizens, but using that illegally- and unconstitutionally-gained information to kill people. How in God’s green earth do we allow this? We sit at our computers and complain about it, we pass around links on Facebook, but what are we doing to stop it?
Nothing.
