defenders of our liberty

defenders of our liberty

the courage and heroism of our military is blogged about often here.

as we approach the 4th of July – America’s Independence Day – they are one big factor in why after 232 years, we still enjoy our liberty.  i chose a couple of things about them to highlight today as we gear up here at home to celebrate freedom.

you may have seen this here before but it is so good (produced by an active duty marine) it deserves a replay.  turn up your sound, its nickleback.

and this incredible picture — from Sadr City, Iraq —  the last stronghold of insurgency in that country.

U.S. Army Task Force Regulators 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment Staff Sgt. Fred Hampton, of Lexington, Ky., kneels on a knee to talk with a young Iraqi boy at the future site of Regular 6 Park in the Thawra 1 section of the Sadr City District of Baghdad on June 20. examples of the greatness of our military and the values of our wonderful country:  winning hearts and minds, living in freedom.
