Over the past few weeks I have been listening to the insanity coming out about the various scandals that the White House finds itself in the middle of currently. In case you have been living under a rock, or hiding in a cave, let me refresh your memory:

1) Benghazi-Four brave Americans died in the service of our nation because of the ineptitude of the current administration and State Department

2) IRS targeting conservative 501c4 organizations like the Tea Party

3) The CF better known as the handling by the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the Russian intelligence “heads up” about the Boston Bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev

4) The tapping of the Associated Presses phone lines by the Department of Justice (DOJ)

Seriously folks, what the heck does it take to have this turkey impeached?! I have only included the top four scandals in this post, forget Fast and Furious, the entrenched culture of striking mention of radical Islam as relates to all terrorist activities-see Fort Hood (workplace violence), the Boston Bombing suspect (attended a mosque  that has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood which is a terrorist organization), I could go on but I think you catch my meaning.

Based on these scandals, and their fall out-people have died because of all but one of them-I decided to refresh my memory about what it would take to get a President impeached. I found my answer in the Constitution-remember that document that our founding fathers created?

According to the U.S. Constitution Article 2 Section 4:

“The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”

Any public statement is perjury if it is a lie, and not necessary to “deceive an enemy.” So, though I am certainly not a Constitutional scholar or an attorney, I am pretty confident that this President has been eligible for impeachment from pretty early on.

Unfortunately, with the split in the Senate-the body that would have the power to impeach Obama-favoring his party it is unlikely we will see the impeachment of this President.  The best we can hope for is that people like Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) will continue to hold Attorney General Holder and other high ranking officials feet to the fire on issues like the ones listed above, like he did today. The incurable optimist in me also hopes that these scandals will jar more citizens to get off the sofa, put down the remote and become meaningfully engaged in the political process.
