Today is Mother’s Day – a day that is set aside to honor mothers. But today is extremely difficult for those mothers who have lost their children, too. And the Trump administration is specifically highlighting “angel moms” on this Mother’s Day.
The “angel moms” are those who have lost a child at the hands of illegal alien violence. And there are so many prominent angel moms who have chosen to speak out after their child was murdered, that it’s hard to remember them all. President Trump did an admirable job highlighting some of them at his joint address to Congress in March (after making their stories a huge part of his immigration platform during the campaign), while Joe Biden couldn’t even properly pronounce Laken Riley’s name during his final State of the Union.
After President Trump took office, his administration has found ways to keep the stories of the angel moms front and center, in order to remind people of the disastrous consequences of the Biden open borders policy. Horrific stories now have names and faces attached to them, like Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungaray, and Rachel Morin. Their mothers should be able to hug them on this Mother’s Day. Instead, these young women are dead, murdered at the hands of monsters who should have never been allowed in this country.

Today, though, the Department of Homeland Security is highlighting the story of Tammy Nobles, whose daughter Kayla Hamilton was raped and murdered in 2022 by an illegal alien teenager who was a member of MS-13. Kayla’s murderer, who claimed credit for other murders and rapes in his native country of El Salvador, ended up pleading guilty to first degree murder in August of 2024.
Her killer on Wednesday pleaded guilty to first degree murder and was sentenced to 70-years behind bars followed by five-years of supervised probation.
On July 27, 2022, Hamilton’s boyfriend found her brutally murdered inside an Aberdeen mobile home.
The 20-year-old, who was diagnosed with Autism, was raped, tied up, and strangled with a phone cord.
DNA evidence collected from Hamilton’s clothing led to a teenage El Salvadorian national named Walter Javier Martinez, whose identity remained under seal until Wednesday.
In a disturbing twist, Hamilton’s last moments were recorded on her boyfriend’s voicemail because she tried calling him when Martinez first showed up.
Prosecutors played the recording in court. A voice believed to be Martinez could be heard apologizing to Hamilton after he killed her.
Before returning home and discovering his girlfriend’s body, Hamilton’s boyfriend witnessed Martinez walking away from the murder scene.
Turns out five days prior to the murder, Martinez rented a separate room inside the same mobile home Hamilton and her boyfriend were staying.
Detectives soon learned Martinez was a member of the notorious crime gang MS-13 with an extremely violent past.
He reportedly was smuggled into the United States illegally back in March of 2022, just four months before Hamilton’s death.
Before the plea deal, Kayla’s mother sued DHS and HHS for $100 million for not identifying her daughter’s killer as a member of MS-13 while he was held by DHS, because he had already been identified as an MS-13 member by El Salvador in 2020. Tammy Nobles also testified to Congress in January 2024 when the House was considering impeachment charges against former DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Tammy Nobles, as part of the angel moms, is fighting to make sure her daughter’s life is not forgotten.
The nearly three-minute clip shows photos of Hamilton as her mother recounts the horror she experienced upon learning her daughter was killed by an illegal gangbanger — a shock based on her belief that the Biden Administration had secured the border against such threats.
“I was absolutely shocked, I did not know what to think,” Nobles says in the video, created and released by the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) Office.
“I thought the border, you know Homeland Security under the Biden Administration was doing their job. These are not just children who are coming across the border, these are also vicious, violent gang members who come across the border and do not care about a human life.”
She later thanked President Trump and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem for working to rid the country of “these monsters” and prioritizing the safety of children nationwide, according to the footage.
Martinez, who crossed the border under the Biden Administration, pleaded guilty to Hamilton’s murder and was sentenced to 70 years in prison.
“This Mother’s Day, Secretary Noem is honoring Tammy Nobles and all the mothers who lost loved ones to illegal crime,” Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin says in a statement included in the announcement.
“Kayla’s life was tragically taken by a criminal illegal alien and known MS-13 gang member who was released into our country by the previous administration. We must never forget Kayla, and the many other beautiful American lives lost to illegal alien crime,” she continues.
“These sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters should still be with us today, and their absence is a painful reminder, every day, of the importance of a secure border. President Trump and Secretary Noem will continue to fight for the victims of illegal alien crime.”
The Trump administration’s continued emphasis on these angel moms, and the arrest of criminal illegal aliens by ICE, continue to receive large support from the American public. Contrast that with Democrats, who have decided to champion those illegals because they think it is a winner for them. Senator Chris Van Hollen and other congressional members championed Kilmar Abrego Garcia, whose case has largely dropped out of the public eye once the allegations of domestic abuse toward his wife was made public. We now have congressmembers storming ICE facilities and assaulting federal agents – and there should be consequences – all to grandstand for some pretty awful people. That the Democrats are stanning for these illegals, and ignoring the angel moms, says everything you need to know about their priorities.
May God bless the angel moms on this Mother’s Day, and may they find a measure of peace in knowing that many Americans grieve their loss with them.
