NEWSFLASH: Government is not there to fix all your problems, and politicians are not your saviors. If you didn’t get the memo, perhaps you should check your Inbox. Why is it that so many people in this country expect to elect politicians to fix their issues for them? They expect to be protected by the police. They expect to be educated by government-run schools. When things go wrong, they expect the government to fix them – mostly by enacting more laws and forcing the rest of us to conform to whatever whim their hysterical face cavity has regurgitated at any given moment.
In response to acts of violence, politicians are expected to enact any number of laws infringing on the rights of every innocent, law-abiding individual. (Side eye at David and the Hogglets)
Failing schools? Let’s throw more money extorted from the taxpayers at the problem and have the government come up with “solutions” that have no hope of fixing the problem that is largely brought on by apathetic parents and screeching, reactionary harpies claiming that their particular brand of victimhood is not adequately covered by whatever curriculum happens to be en vogue these days.
Poor people are suffering (even though the quality of life of the poor in this country is leaps and bounds above the suffering we see in the third world)? Politicians should pass laws relieving us of our earnings, because some people are either too lazy and passive to take steps to help on their own, or simply believe that others must be compelled into “solutions” that they find acceptable via government force.
Most people don’t mind government control, as long as said control reflects their particular set of values.
Let’s get something straight, people: government = force.
It’s as simple as that. Politicians enact laws they believe will solve whatever problem happens to exist on a micro level without considering the macro effects of said solutions, and the rest of us are expected to abide by said laws. If we don’t…
If we don’t pay our taxes, or give up our guns, or submit to a regulation with which we disagree, we will be arrested and thrown in jail. Hundreds of millions of people are dead because they refused to conform to a government central planning system – for the common good. That’s called force, people!
And by blindly worshiping the politicians who promise to force others to submit to our ideas of right and wrong, you are empowering them to use force on your behalf against your fellow Americans.
An opinion column this weekend by Maureen Dowd shows in its full, disgusting glory the deification of Barack Obama that went on for a full eight years, as the left genuflected before their God, hoping he would fix their problems.
“Change our country,” they mewled. “Give us free shit (at others’ expense),” they screeched. “Force us to bow to the world order – we’re not special,” they demanded. “Screw the individual,” they crowed.
And Obama tried to do just that. The left loved it, and the rest of us sat stunned as Obama bowed to the world’s leaders, jammed ObamaCare through the legislature using bribes and pork, mired us in a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action that had no hope of stopping a nuclear Iran for the sake of having a “win” and repeatedly used the media to lie to the American people about everything from the “Affordable” Care Act, to the crappy JCPOA vis-a-vis Iran, to the economy, to Benghazi, to the state of black people in America today.
But the left did not and does not care, because they worship Barack Obama, and he was, after all, trying to impose THEIR policies on America, so it’s OK. While Dowd recognizes the faults in Obama the President, she certainly exposes the left’s obsequious ball washing of the man, despite his obvious faults, and even Dowd is amazed at the “we were just too good, too progressive, too enlightened for the filthy masses” attitude of Obama and those who surrounded him!
But in his next breath, the president made it clear that what he meant was: What if we were wrong in being so right? What if we were too good for these people?
“Maybe we pushed too far,” the president continued. “Maybe people just want to fall back into their tribe.”
So really, he’s not acknowledging any flaws but simply wondering if we were even more benighted than he thought. He’s saying that, sadly, we were not enlightened enough for the momentous changes wrought by the smartest people in the world — or even evolved enough for the first African-American president.
“Sometimes I wonder whether I was 10 or 20 years too early,” Obama mused to aides.
We just weren’t ready for his amazing awesomeness.
When you’ve lost Maureen Dowd…
The left saw and continues to see Obama as its daddy, as its savior as its knight in shining armor. They fail even now to recognize how tepid, divisive, and at times dangerous his policies were.
When Obama left the White House in a helicopter that horrible day, I had the impression our true father was leaving & the nation was stuck with a stepfather who was going to rape us. Now I increasingly believe that the media is the mother who won’t stand up for us & defy him.

They worship him as a God, because he promised to impose the policies they demanded and use government force against the rest of us to ensure those policies were enacted. He promised them their vision at the expense of the rest of us, and they bowed before him like so many sycophantic sheep.
But if you think this politician worship is endemic to the left, you really need to open your eyes.
How many voted for the current President because he promised to make their lives better, to protect them, to turn economic and trade policy on its ear to give them their advantage and their turn?
How many Trump supporters faithfully screech “MAGA!” regardless of whether or not his policies align with conservative principles?
How many twist into positions the world’s most flexible hooker would envy to defend his actions, because he happens to be THEIR guy?
Yeah, you people are guilty too.
To be sure there’s plenty to praise this President for. The economy is doing well, unemployment is at its lowest level in decades, he has selected a top notch Supreme Court justice and signed into law a tax reform bill that will result in Americans keeping more of their hard-earned dollars.
But at the same time, daddy – in an attempt to protect his worker children and save a few jobs – has decided the best way to do so is to impose tariffs on some of our closest economic and military allies. Who will suffer?
That said, the president will be shooting the economy in the foot with his tariff proposal. Yes, he may save a few jobs in the steel and aluminum industries, and companies will be a little more profitable. But more jobs will be lost and profits will fall in the broad range of other industries that will have to pay more for the steel they use to produce everything from cars to beer cans. The evidence suggests that the economy will suffer overall.
The conservative think tank Heritage Foundation agrees.
Trade wars are bad policy, and trade deficits are not necessarily a bad thing. This is college freshman-level knowledge. But Trump’s supporters’ response? #MAGA!!
He’s the savior!
The pundits and naysayers are WORTHLESS. President Trump is the only man for the job, and he will bring America to the Promise-Land

Enough already!
Stop worshiping at the altar of politicians!
Politicians are not there to fix your problems. They exist to promote themselves, to retain their power, to get reelected, and profit handsomely afterward through speaking engagements, book deals, and media appearances. In order to do that, they bow to whatever hysterical masses happen to want at the moment, so they can point to their “accomplishments” as proof of their responsiveness to the shrieking ignorami who cast votes in their direction!
Politicians are not your saviors. The only thing they can do is use government force against those with whom you disagree to impose policies that many times are bad for the country or are outright unconstitutional.
Politicians are not there to save you.
Stand up on your own two feet and take responsibility for your finances, your education, your children, the personal safety of your family, and your prosperity. Help create charities, give to said charities, offer a hand to a suffering person, who may need some assistance. Teach your kids to be kind, generous, and giving. Teach them to be self sufficient, independent, and strong. Stop breeding generations of sheep and teaching them that government schools, government services, government regulations, and government control should replace their own independent thinking and their ability to be accountable for their own actions.
The government is not your God, and the politicians are not your priests.
If that’s your vision of a utopia, I cordially invite you to get the fuck out of my country. I’ve lived it, have no desire to go back to it, and will spill blood to prevent you from destroying America.
Take control of your own life, and stop trying to run mine to compensate for your inadequacies.
Cheering and applauding from East Tennessee. No matter who is president my success or failure is my own doing.
I do have to disagree slightly on tariffs. Some of our trade deals are woefully lopsided and this is just an opening bid. But we met agree to disagree Marta.

They expect to be protected by the police. They expect to be educated by government-run schools. When things go wrong, they expect the government to fix them….
Because human beings really do not cherish freedom so much as they cherish comfort, continuity, and security, unless they are trained to do so. They’re fine with limited choices, someone else making decisions for them, someone else doing the scary things. Most people make for really crappy citizens (but perfectly fine subjects).
This is why I so hated Bush’s prog crap about “We know that the desire for freedom is not confined to, or owned by, any culture; it is the inborn hope of our humanity.” That’s absolute, utter bullcarp. It most certainly is NOT inborn in people.
Let’s throw more money extorted from the taxpayers at the problem
Honestly? This is a problem with most gov’t answers. Why does it continue? Because politicians and activists have a vested interest in MO MONEY! The more money the more opportunity for graft and nest-lining. Which is why limited gov’t is such a genius move – less gov’t means there is nothing there to justify the graft and nest-lining. Annnnnnd, it mostly goes away.
(As to education, removing most of the administrative overhead would reduce costs and allow more money for actual teaching.)
the rest of us sat stunned
Some of us, not so much. Some of us planned. And stockpiled.
The left saw and continues to see Obama … as its savior…
And yet, they still claim to be atheists. Again and again they bow before idols, all while proclaiming – face to ground – “We don’t worship any silly gods! We’re too smart for that!”
The conservative think tank Heritage Foundation
While they generally are conservative, defining conservatism by “absolute free trade” is malarkey. It’s just as pie-in-the-sky, ignore-reality as any progressive concept. It denies that other gov’ts already have their thumb on the “free” market scale. It ignores that things like steel and aluminum are strategic commodities that we need to be able to self-source in a pinch.
3.In 2002, the United States faced threats of retaliatory tariffs from major trading partners.
You mean on top of the price subsidies they already provided? To imagine tariffs as the only way of driving trade your way shows a lack of understanding of macro-economics. Or you’re not telling the whole truth.
Trade wars are bad policy
Says who? Mostly, people who fail to acknowledge that there will always be conflict. There is ALWAYS struggle with others. It’s bullcarp to believe that if you just let everything alone everyone will be happy and productive and we’ll all be rich.
So, the key is to managing trade wars to keep them from becoming real wars. Also, to work out mutually beneficial arrangements with folks so we can prosper. But, don’t deny they already exist (sorta like we do with the “we’re not at war with Islam” schtick – well, they’re certainly at war with us).
This is college freshman-level knowledge.
Then maybe we should have those college freshmen take a class in reality economics.
Mind you, this does not put me in the “Ooooohhhhh, Truuuump!” category. I’ve been anti-anti-tariff for a long time now.
he will bring America to the Promise-Land
Oy vey. Dude, you’re supposed to capitalize relevant pronouns when speaking of the Messiah….. *eyeroll*
Stand up on your own two feet and take responsibility for …
This is why I keep yelling at people when they say stuff like “the police are the only thing standing between us and chaos!” If that’s true, then you’ve already lost America. What’s supposed to be true is that FREE CITIZENS – WE OURSELVES – are supposed to stand between us and chaos/barbarism/etc. This country is OURS, but we have to actually do our jobs as citizens to KEEP IT.
If that’s your vision of a utopia, I cordially invite you to get the fuck out of my country.
A-friggin’-MEN!
