Roy Moore lost the recent interim senate election by about 20,000 votes to the first Democrat in 25 years. He is not giving up and claims he is battling immorality which sweeps over the land.

Wow. The battle rages on? You lost a safe seat in a very GOP state while showing everyone who you are. You did this Roy. As Victory Girl Cassy said here, this was an ugly loss. Old Roy refusing to concede calling for a crusade would be funny if it wasn’t so pitiful. And damaging to the state of Alabama, the GOP, and frankly, the evangelical movement. But Roy is not giving up.

Moore released a video on Wednesday night, saying “the battle rages on,” and vowing every ballot should be counted.

“In this race, we have not received the final count to include military and provisional ballots,” Moore said in the video. “This has been a very close race — and we are awaiting certification by the secretary of state.”

The Alabama Secretary of State does not agree and they told you so.

Alabama’s Secretary of State John Merrill stood by comments he made election night in an interview with ABC News’ Tom Llamas on Wednesday, saying an automatic recount is “highly unlikely.” Merrill believes Jones’ margin of victory will not dip below 0.5 percent, which would trigger an automatic recount. A spokesperson for Merrill said the state had a “free, fair and safe elections process,” even calling it “perfect and seamless.”

Hmmmm, immorality is all over that. Especially since, Mr. Moore, while Chief Justice had something to do with the electoral system being free, fair, and safe. Getting on his high horse about the election he lost for a safe GOP senate seat is a bit like a false witness to me.

And it gets even more creepy than a thirty-something-year-old man cruising for a date at Sbarro in the mall:

“Immorality sweeps over our land — even our political process has been affected with baseless and false allegations which have become more relevant than the true issues which affect our country,” Moore says. “This election was tainted by over $50 million from outside groups who want to retain power and their own corrupt ideology.”

It is everyone else’s fault that I lost, not my piss poor campaigning seems to be Moore’s slogan. Could the issue be your statements that were a special kind of stupid?

At a September rally, Moore invoked slavery when describing what President Trump means when he says, “Make America great again.”

Moore was asked by a black man at an Alabama campaign stop what the president means by the phrase, reports the Los Angeles Times. Moore replied:

“I think it was great at a time when families were united, even though we had slavery, they cared for one another,” he said. “People were strong in the families. Our families were strong, our country had a direction, and we corrected many of the problems.”

Gee, why did black votes go overwhelmingly to Jones? Why did pro-life whites with a conscience stay home or vote none of the above? I would have written in my dog, Connor, if these crap choices were in Michigan. Connor’s vices are he loves to chase squirrels and rabbits and tease his sister. And steal her food and cookies and bread. But he is a canine. Doing what a dog does. On the other hand, Roy Moore professes to speak for Christendom and is held to a much higher standard. In other words, putting up the ten commandments means less than nothing if his walk and talk don’t match. But here is what the Bible said in Proverbs 6:16-19

16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Immorality sweeping the land indeed, Mr. Moore. And Twitter further discusses how unfit this herald of immorality is to hold any elected office:

In other words, people voted for none of the above and the Democrats voted in Jones. This is a bigger loss for the GOP and Moore than either will admit. But back to Roy Moore and his cries for morality. Walk the walk and talk the talk is supposed to be done.

Seems to me that Roy needs a lesson in actual morality. And using words he will get: maybe people might see Jesus in him if he acted a lot less like David Duke and a lot more like Dr. David Jeremiah. He might actually be a leader of a charge against immorality. But that would involve excavating the beam from his eyeball first.

I am an optimist and pray Roy Moore and his wife can stop, step back, and put the interests of the state of Alabama above self. Because that is what a public servant is and does: they are called to serve. And they serve all the people living in their state, district, or city. Not just the ones who look and think and pray like them. A good lesson for all of us.
